Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotify Protocol Handler - play Spotify on all your Squeezeboxen

2016-12-25 Thread Michael Herger

Actually forgot to mention an important info.. I will still be the only
one using spotify via the LMS (LMS on RPi via piCorePlayer). There wount
be other family members on this LMS.

I guess "wount" is "won't"? Then you should be fine, yes. I think the
limitation that was mentioned was something like you can't easily switch
account among the various family members. You could somehow access your
other members favorites, but that's it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotify Protocol Handler - play Spotify on all your Squeezeboxen

2016-12-25 Thread Michael Herger

Just a little notification for those struggling with playing Spotify on
synced players: Doesn't seem to work with this plugin. If you only use
SB Radio and Touch, remove it.

That's a very odd piece of information, as I initially specifically
created for this very purpose: overcome the buggy synchronization of
Spotify for SB Radio/Touch... It was my primary use for it, not
streaming to unsupported devices. But whatever improves your situation
is fine :-)

That has nothing to do with Squeeze Ctrl. That's a limitation of
whichever squeezebox you are using. Different squeezebox models have
different capabilities.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problems with file types on both iPlayer and iPlayer Extra

2016-12-25 Thread bpa

That error has nothing to do with your problem.

Describe your system and player - "unable to play filetype" usually
means your player cannot play AAC and LMS is unable to transcode due to
wrong setting or faad not being available. This is probably a general
problem on your system not a BBCiPlayer problem.

If it is really a BBCiplayer 1.5.2 problem - please post on the thread
for BBCPlayer 1.5.2.

More details - on waht are you trying - do you get any programs ? or
are programd listed but do not play ?
What are your BBCiPlayer and Extra settings ? There are some
combination of settings which prevent programs playing ? (e.g. using HLS

read your recommendation for 7.9 over 7.8. I tried 7.9 and, sure enough,

Hello Michael,
thanks for the quick reponse. I tried to find something here with
"spotify protocol handler" and "family" as you suggested, but I was not
able to find some (to me) clear info..

Actually forgot to mention an important info.. I will still be the only

problem to use the brilliant protocol handler, right?

As you see, I am still scared to switch to the family abo, since I was
just able to get the regular spotify account running in LMS (and thats
s good!) :-)

Anyone else using "spotify protocol handler" and the spotify family
suscription maybe..?

Thanks again!
Kind regards,

Jojo

Thanks!

My music library is on a 6TB USB drive hooked to a mac mini. I have the
library in JRiver Media Center 22, iTunes, and LMS so anything I want to
play there is a way. It just bothered me so that I couldn't figure the
MP3 thing out that I just had to figure it out no matter that I'll never
use it.

I have multiple players at home.

- One built into a tube headphone amp on a Raspberry Pi with HiFiBerry
DAC Plus Pro
- On the Mac Mini w/ Schiit Bifrost
- On a Pi Zero which is a wall calendar in the kitchen- why not use
squeezelite to stream talk radio through those TV speakers
- Bedroom system Pi with Schiit Modi2 to Bottlehead Crack
- Squeezebox Radio
- Jivelite player with iqaudio dac and amp in an old '50's radio.
- Jivelite player in a 3D printed case. (probably mount in the garage
someday with in wall speakers).
- Couple other unfinished pi projects
- back up LMS server on Ubuntu Server.

So basically everything I own has LMS on it;)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Couple of squeezelite on mac questions

2016-12-25 Thread hagensieker

I am using squeezelite via the Local Player plugin in LMS. Is it
preferable to disable this and install Ralphy's 1.8 squeezelite for OS
X? Any advantage whatsoever?

Also I run Sierra 10.12.2 and cannot figure out how to add MP3 support.
The rudix project as mentioned in the Local Player notes doesn't seem to
support Sierra.

To be completely honest here I run LMS server on my Mac and all my Linux
and Raspberry Pi machines run the latest squeezelite. I still listen to
some talk radio streams that are mp3 and can't listen on the mac. But
the Mac is hooked to the killer audiophile vacuum tube system and not
likely I'd ever listen to talk radio on it.

Still, making it work interests me, if that makes sense.
