Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Client Cleanup v1.0
I apologize for the negativity. I've just wanted to know that the server runs and will always run without any connection with mysb.com. That was my motivation, too. I'm positive it will. I actually almost regret having introuduced the --nomysqueezebox parameter Why is that? I don't understand. As I said: the number of devices connecting to mysb ("calling home") is an indication as for how many users still use the SB. And the higher that number, the less likely management will decide to consider things dead, and shut down whatever infrastructure they're still paying for. Eg. this very forum! I'm genuinely confused by the information in this thread. Sounds like everyone else is, too. It has become increasingly confusing because little of it has to do with the plugin itself. Most is about LMS issues exposed by the plugin, but not cause by it :-). I keep mentioning the update I did on the 5th because that's when I published this plugin. "Latest" always only is relative, I know. The build from that day is latest enough. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Best way to use Tidal service on Squeezebox
What's the best format/bitrate you can get out of Tidal just using mysqueezebox.com to control your player? FLAC should be possible, though using LMS' proxied streaming could help with network reliability. Do you have to install LMS to get lossless FLAC? AFAIK not yet. Thanks for the explanation. I would also consider that metadata, but I guess that's a matter of semantics and personal taste. ;) Thank you also for the pointer to the faststart option, researching that I found that ffmpeg also comes with a tool "qt-faststart" which does just that, so the files are fixed now. AAC audio is split up into "frames" - player needs to know the start of a frame in order to play audio - index tell player where to find the start of each frame. When creating an audio file in a single pass it is easy to put index at end of file as it is only available when compressed audio has been created. To put index at start of file requires a 2nd pass. The "offending" files can be easily fixed using ffmpeg and the "movflags faststart" option. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110150 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Thank you, @bpa, seems like that was indeed the solution. I wasn't even aware it was possible to have the metadata (at least that's my interpretation of "index to the audio") at the end of the file. I just changed my players to "proxy" rather than "direct". I -think -it's a bit better, but not really sorted. Been listening for approx. 30mins and had two skips. The first one was mid song and it jumped to a short Rebecca "your listening to radio paradise" announcement. The second time, halfway through a song it stopped and another song started playing. Not if the index to the audio is at the end of the file - a streamed file needs to have index at the start (in this cae the file needs to modified by ffmpeg with faststart flag to move index to start of file). However LMS has decided the file cannot be played natively by squeezelite (assuming it is a normal buidl which can play AAC natively) so it is trty to transcode. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X
I have a working prototype version of Squeezelite-X that supports having up to 5 Additional Players. The use case for this is someone that has multiple sound cards in one PC supporting a multi-room setup. It works as follows: Additional Players are ignored if the Primary Player is not enabled. You would click the "+" button to show the Additional Players configuration screen. 26714 Additional Players are instantiated using the same configuration settings as the Primary Player, except Additional Players have their own Name and Output Device. 26715 Press "Back" to return to main settings screen, and "Apply" to apply the new settings. 26716 I'm on the fence on this. Maybe it is too niche. Maybe too many people will be confused. Maybe people will have issues that I will be unable to trouble-shoot/test. I'm looking for some feedback on whether to deploy this.
