Did you set the time to update data? It takes a minute or two anyway to

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Radio Paradise Lossless Streaming (Plugin v2)

2019-02-26 Thread Michael Herger

I have experienced this, and not only the RP logo, but stuck artwork
from several songs before. Tony mentioned using skip, but I have gone
back, then reselect, get the artwork proper again. I have also
experienced when I do go back and reselect, it might start from, say 2-3
songs before (i.e. I'll hear the previous 2-3 songs again).

Would this be on all interfaces (LMS web UI, devices, mobile apps)?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2019-02-26 Thread ftarz

I'm setting-up a V4.1.0 piCorePlayer system on a RPi 3B+ with RPi touch
display and the SuperDateTime screensaver V5.10.29. I'm having a
problem with getting the SDT screen saver to display weather data after
reboots. Nothing is shown until I run the SuperDateTime app and click on
Current Conditions a couple of times. After that the SDT screen saver
works just fine.

Is there a way to "seed" the weather data after a reboot so that the
screen saver just works?

Hi philippe_44,

I have been happily using Logitech Media Server on Linux for over ten
years, but unfortunately my Squeezebox recently died. So, I decided to
replace it with a DLNA/UPnP compatible Onkyo receiver and use
Squeeze2upnp instead. I have spent the last two days testing this new
configuration and it works well with only one problem, whenever the
receiver goes into standby LMS "drops" the receiver and it is no longer
available as a player... :(

Is there any way around this please?

Thanks!

Regards,

Darren

Maybe it wanders? It's gone here now. I rebooted several times, but that
did nothing. I disabled and enabled this and that (audio devices.
Apparently, I have a lot), which didn't do anything either. And now
suddenly it's gone.

I could not reproduce the pause issue. Maybe this is all just symptoms
for some other issue. I really should reinstall Windows in the near
future.

I see this behaviour though its rather odd !

Powering on the player does not produce an indication on the meter
Playing prduces indication as expected
Pausing produces indication even if volume is 0 (Via SLX GUI)

Starting again with volume at zero produces no indication re pausing
produces indication again.

Powering off the player removes the indication

If I Turn up all the audio gains to full I cannot hear any audio output

Assuming "admin" i sthe user, changing the group owner ot those
directory is not enough, you should then allow group members ro , at
least, read files.

Then the problem is that only root could see sound cards, so you should
either change file permissions (preferable) or run squeezelite as root
user or with sudo.

Interesting - the permission & group setting on these file means only
root can access them.

A bit drastic (and assuming currently the group for all files in
/dev/snd is root) but if you have an "audio" group defined and admin is
part of audio group then you change change all groups in /dev/snd
E.g. chgrp -R audio /dev/snd/*

In an earlier post you showed directory listing which I presumed was
executed with root id

Code:

  root@Akela2:/proc/asound# ls -l /proc/asound/card0
  total 0
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 13:21 id
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 13:21 oss_mixer
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 13:21 stream0
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 13:21 usbbus
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 13:21 usbid
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 13:21 usbmixer

For a hw:0,0 playback - there should be a pcm0p directory in
/proc/asound/card0

Some system have audio in /dev/snd directory. Can you do a "ls -l " on
/dev/snd as root - I'd expect to see a pcmC0D0p character device - root
owner and audio group id. There may be also be a hwC0D0 character
device.

It's definitely a problem with plugin since it doesn't even work
correctly on a Squeezebox Controller (the remote for Duet). I generally
don't put fixes in Squeeze Ctrl for errors in the plugin, since I'll
probably have to undo the fix once the plugin is fixed. Besides the
SoundCloud doesn't even handle the "defeat touch to play" menu correctly
and I can't fix that that.

2019-02-26 Thread cpd73

Never really use SoundCloud, and this might be a bug with that app, but
was playing with it and my Material skin. If I search, whichever track I
select from the results, it always plays the 1st. Tried default webUI,
and this is OK. Tried with SqueezeCtrl and this behaves the same as
Material. I've made a change to Material where if an item has a
-presetParams.favorites_url- and the command is -["", "playlist",
"add/insert/play", "menu:",...]- then I replace the call with
-["playlist", "add/insert/play", ""]-

Just thought you might like to look at this for SqueezeCtrl.

Not sure this is relevant, and can't say I have experienced this
recently. I'll stream it and keep an eye out.

This is what I get by calling squeezelite-win.exe -l:

It's already garbled here. I'm still trying to figure out why there's
two transcriptions of the umlaut "ä", but I couldn't find these device

Looks like slimserver is running as this one:
15149 ?Ss 0:22 /usr/bin/perl
/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/slimserver.pl --daemon --pidfile
/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/slimserv

The PID is running as user admin.

AudioStation user belongs to AudioStation group. I added admin to this
group, no change.

If I log in as admin and use the command: ./squeezelite-x86-64 -d
all=info -a 88200:1298:16:1 -o hw:0,0
I get:

[15:34:17.383644] stream_init:294 init stream
[15:34:17.385529] output_init_alsa:939 init output
[15:34:17.385682] output_init_alsa:979 requested alsa_buffer: 88200

directory
[15:34:17.387378] output_init_common:384 unable to open output device:
hw:0,0

If I sudo the command, or sudo -i first, it works fine.

The reason for the missing hw:0,0 earlier was because it was output from
the local player plugin with no optional parameters specified.

But in fact that don't seem to matter, the basic command line command
-sudo ./squeezelite-x86-64- works like a charm.

At the moment I can't look at the psot in detail but the message "ALSA
_snd_pcm_hw_open:1401 Invalid value for card" could mean one of the
parameters value is not supported but rights/access/permissions is most
likely.

Check what groups Audiostation user id belongs to ?

When LMS is runnign do a "ps" which shows full command line stuff as
before - look for some process executing something with "slimserver" in
the line.

Thanks, ralphy!

That did the trick, it plays fine from command line. :-)
However, I need to be root to execute it, and it won't load from LMS.
Looks like a rights issue to the sound device.
Do I need to change permissions of the device, or add a user to a

Yes, I changed ownership and group to admin/users both for the source
and the copy in the squeezelite directory. Chmod 0755.
Changed it back for the source after testing, it was AudioStation
AudioStation.

Ok, this is how it was:

Code:

  lrwxrwxrwx 1 AudioStation AudioStation 14 Jul 11 2018
/volume1/@appstore/AudioStation/lib/libasound.so -> libasound.so.2
  -rwxr-xr-x 1 AudioStation AudioStation 989195 Jul 11 2018
/volume1/@appstore/AudioStation/lib/libasound.so.2

There is no libasound.so.2.0.0. Is that an issue?

I made the symbolic links like this:

Code:

root@Akela2:/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/LocalPlayer/Bin#
 ls -l
  total 3248
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root  root   50 Feb 26 13:03 libasound.so ->
/volume1/@appstore/AudioStation/lib/libasound.so.2
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root  root   50 Feb 26 13:03 libasound.so.2 ->
/volume1/@appstore/AudioStation/lib/libasound.so.2
  -rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 139261 Feb 25 09:39 old-squeezelite-x86-64
  -rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 127354 Feb 25 09:39 squeezelite-armv5te
  -rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 127354 Feb 25 09:39 squeezelite-armv6
  -rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 136381 Feb 25 09:39 squeezelite-armv6hf

  -rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 2642256 Oct 29 13:45 squeezelite-x86-64
  -rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 203 Feb 26 09:36 squeezelite-x86-64.sh

Result:
Code:

root@Akela2:/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/LocalPlayer/Bin#
 ./squeezelite-x86-64
./squeezelite-x86-64: error while loading shared libraries: libasound.so.2:

You can use the 'patchelf utility' (https://nixos.org/patchelf.html) to
set the library path directly in the squeezelite binary.

Code:

patchelf --set-rpath /volume1/@appstore/AudioStation/lib squeezelite-x86-64

As it's unlikely available on the NAS I've modified one for you.

Code:

patchelf --print-rpath squeezelite-x86-64
  /volume1/@appstore/AudioStation/lib

Try replacing the old 1.6.5 binary with 'the modified one'
).

Code:

http://ralph-irving.users.sourceforge.net/files/squeezelite-1.9.0.1119-x86_64.tar.gz

I am not seeing the same issue with track progress. I see a difference
of around 11 seconds but it definitely advances in the Spotify app.
Using Max2Play on a Pi3B.

Unfortunately for other readers of the thread - they'll find it a bit
off-piste.
> Seems we need to go with the script option, no luck with step 1 or 2.
Not quite done with step 1 or 2 as there are variations still to be
checked.
Please confirm
- you changed ownership/permission etc. of the libasound file when in
the squeezelite direcotry ?
- there was no file or directory with a name starting with "ld" in the
/etc directory

Instead of copying the libasound file the file can be soft linked to a
file in the squeezelite direcotry however it is important that it is
linked to the right file.
Are there multiple libasound files lib direcory - check by doing a "ls
-l" command as follows

Code:

  ls -l /volume1/@appstore/AudioStation/lib/libasound*

On my linux syustem I get the following

Code:

  @minitower$ ls -l /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libasound*
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Dec 19 04:25
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libasound.so -> libasound.so.2.0.0
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Dec 19 04:25
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libasound.so.2 -> libasound.so.2.0.0
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1075496 Dec 19 04:25
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libasound.so.2.0.0

Note the current libasound is libasound.so.2.0.0 - all others link to
it. Similarly on your system you need to find the "higher" versions
(i.e. libasound.so and libasound.so.2) and replicate the files as links
in the squeezelite directory something like the following.

Code:

  ln -s /volume1/@appstore/AudioStation/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/LocalPlayer/Bin/squeezelite-x86-64/libasound.so
  ln -s /volume1/@appstore/AudioStation/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/LocalPlayer/Bin/squeezelite-x86-64/libasound.so.2

Do a "ls -l" afterwards to check the link are correct - then check if
squeezelite can be run without the LD_LIBRARY_PATH ?

I made the script work, used the wrong shell, /bin/bash instead of
/bin/sh.

Possibly.
Is there an "id" command - if so then find the following
What is the groupid of admin ? ("id -g admin")
What groups does admin belong ("id -G admin")

You did a check for the audio group a while back - Is admin in the audio
group ?
Time to check the Alsa devices permissions.
ALSA devices are in the /proc/asound directory.
If you do a "ls -l" on /proc/asound I expect there is a file called
"Streamer" whic is linked to directory card0
If you "ls -l" /proced/asound/card0 - there should be files somehting
like

Code:

  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 10:13 id
  dr-xr-xr-x 3 root root 0 Feb 26 10:13 pcm0c
  dr-xr-xr-x 3 root root 0 Feb 26 10:13 pcm0p
  dr-xr-xr-x 3 root root 0 Feb 26 10:13 pcm1p
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 10:13 stream0
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 10:13 stream1
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 10:13 usbbus
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 10:13 usbid
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 26 10:13 usbmixer

What are the permission & ownership of the card0 directory ?
What are the permission & ownership of the "pcm*" directories in the
card0 directory ?

Thanks Michael for the latest fix much appreciated.

Have noticed in latest version, using Connect the track progress
indicator within the Spotify app on the device I use does not progress
and just shows track duration when connecting to one of my squeezebox
players. The web interface and Orange Squeeze do show track progress
correctly in this case. If on the same Android device (Samsung Tab4
tablet) I play something on the device itself the progress indicator
works, not a problem for me music plays fine:) but thought I would
report in case others see this too.

This is brilliant, I am learning as I go. Thank you so much for your
kind assistance and patience, you are a great and very helpful person!

Seems we need to go with the script option, no luck with step 1 or 2.
I made the script work, used the wrong shell, /bin/bash instead of
/bin/sh.

So, this is what I have:
The script file is in the local player folder, it contains this:
#!/bin/sh

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/volume1/@appstore/AudioStation/lib
/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/LocalPlayer/Bin/squeezelite-x86-64
-d all=info -a 88200:1298:16:1 -o hw:0,0

It works from command line.

The binary is the new one that works.
Rights for all files are admin/users. I didn't change the original ones
installed by LMS, they had the same ownerships.

-rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 139261 Feb 25 09:39 old-squeezelite-x86-64
-rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 127354 Feb 25 09:39 squeezelite-armv5te
-rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 127354 Feb 25 09:39 squeezelite-armv6
-rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 136381 Feb 25 09:39 squeezelite-armv6hf
-rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 133764 Feb 25 09:39 squeezelite-i386
-rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 2642256 Oct 29 13:45 squeezelite-x86-64
-rwxr-xr-x 1 admin users 203 Feb 26 09:36 squeezelite-x86-64.sh
root@Akela2:/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/LocalPlayer/Bin#

The right issue seems to be with the audio device, running the script as
admin gives:

[09:43:29.142435] stream_init:294 init stream
[09:43:29.144389] output_init_alsa:939 init output
[09:43:29.144496] output_init_alsa:979 requested alsa_buffer: 88200
alsa_period: 1298 format: 16 mmap: 1
[09:43:29.146061] ALSA _snd_pcm_hw_open:1401 Invalid value for card
[09:43:29.146163] test_open:281 playback open error: No such file or
directory
[09:43:29.146189] output_init_common:384 unable to open output device:
hw:0,0

So, how to fix this, and how to make the script run at startup?

Thanks!
