That reminds me, in the debug logs, it appears the bridge is not offering wav as an option to the upstream LMS server. I see this with both LMS 8 as upstream and with Roon as upstream LMS server. I am using 1.40.9 in both cases (with LMS 8 and with Roon), I have regenerated the config xml which now includes wav in the common sections codecs list, and my UPnP player is reporting it supports wav. It's a bug. Bugs means behaviour is not correct. The SB3 UI is a special case and has a special display function loaded for BBCiPlayer. The SB3 UI needs two special variable to be setup for 2 lines of text. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)
I did some more experimenting over the weekend and answered some of my own questions. I set up LMS 8 on another server, also running 1.40.9 version of the bridge plugin so I can compare what I'm seeing with the bridge and Roon as the upstream LMS server versus the behaviour of the bridge with regular LMS. duncsimpson wrote: > > I've done some more experimenting with the debug log enabled and I think > it is Roon that is converting all upstream content, regardless of file > type or codec, to LPCM/WAV when its FLAC compression flag is disabled, > or to FLAC when its compression flag is enabled. My observations using regular LMS and the bridge configured for passthru show the bridge is behaving consistently when comparing the bridge's logs with Roon as the upstream LMS. When LMS is offering a codec the bridge knows it can passthru, the bridge's log entries around the upstream codec and the subsequent behaviour of the bridge with regard to processing or resampling are consistent with bridge logs when used with the Roon LMS as upstream. I think this confirms that the bridge is behaving in passthru mode when Roon is the upstream LMS server. I think this also confirms it is Roon that is processing any track into PCM (or FLAC if FLAC compression is enabled in the LMS endpoint in Roon). However Roon doesn't report it is doing this in it's UI. This surprised me, because Roon typically tries to be transparent about any manipulation of the stream so the end user knows what is happening in every step of the chain they can see or control (which they can in this case). They do report that the last step in the stream is "Squeezebox Streaming" which is Roon's LMS implementation and it is the step that appears to be altering the stream in my observations. The Roon UI doesn't elaborate on this or say that this means the stream is being transcoded to PCM (or FLAC). Roon also has a "light" indicator if any step in the playback chain is materially changing the stream, however it is showing no changes when used with an LMS endpoint. For example, if I play an ALAC track, or a FLAC track, or WAV track, Roon reports in every case the track is being streamed as is, ie untouched, but the bridge and my NDX both report receiving a PCM in wav format. duncsimpson wrote: > > As a side note, when playing back DSD64 tracks from Roon to the LMS > endpoint configured for DoP, the bridge's debug log indicates the > incoming stream is already at 176.4kHz sample rate, both in case of FLAC > compression enabled or disabled for the LMS endpoint in Roon, and the > bridge is again simply performing passthru. Interestingly with FLAC > compression disabled in Roon, the DSD playback reports on the NDX itself > as WAV 2.8Mhz sample rate, whereas with FLAC compression enabled, again > the bridge reports passthru but the NDX reports FLAC 176.4kHz. I also saw this with the bridge when using LMS 8 as the upstream LMS server, ie despite having DSDPlayer plugin in LMS configured to do DoP, my NDX player reports the incoming stream is FLAC 176.4khz when playing DSD64 or DSD128 tracks. From what I can tell in the bridge's logs, the bridge is recieving a FLAC stream from the upstream server, so it must be LMS doing that transcoding. I had trouble viewing the LMS transcoder logs, so I can't confirm what the LMS server actually did. In either case the FLAC behaviour could be a side effect of FLAC reporting a sample rate that differs from the actual underlying PCM data when the given server is using DoP with FLAC instead of DoP with PCM/wav, I'm not sure. duncsimpson wrote: > > I also noticed the artist/album info is displaying on the NDX's display > as blank/unknown and the server is "Streaming from LMS". I found three things here: 1. In my experiments, when LMS 8 is the upstream LMS server, the bridge logs show the album/artist data coming through in the sq_callback logs. So I think this

Yup - I think Settings would benefit from being labelled Material Skin (per device) settings. I'm sure it's obvs to those changing it often but for occasional fiddlers it is confusing. Though I guess if you use a different browser on a device or SLX) then it'll be different. Or per interface? Bit subjective that term though ... Somehow you read my mind about loading the development version (since there was an appeal to test it), but I found that I was completely in the dark after finding the github development branch. I figured that possibly it was a case of if I had to ask how, then maybe I'm not the target audience! mr-b's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10044 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108550 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

As a matter of fact your implementation seems smoother and faster. No perceptible difference on desktop (Win 10 + FF browser), but on my phone (PH-1 + VIA browser) the re-draws are better structured. The library implementation seems to have a bigger delay in sensing when to fetch and draw than your implementation, which attempts to do the same operation more eagerly, so to speak, giving more feedback as a result. Such eagerness may create more load on slower phones, but it feels better then the library implementation on mine. I do have a slower device on which to try this on, but first I'd have to dust it off. Later. I agree that Settings (SLX, Material Skin, and LMS) is confusing, but I don't see that changing. People sometimes confuse Material Skin and SLX itself. I definitely recommend playing with Material Skin's settings, though, lots of good stuff in there. Also, if you are manually updating Material Skin from the development branch, you will often need to clear SLX's browser cache after you update Material Skin or you might not see the changes after an update. Aha! I have a massive clue Note that the following is true whether using my RPi4 server or the Windows PC LMS I just set up to experiment on. If I have the webui open, the SB3 displays the information. The webui is causing it to be fetched and the SB3 then shows it. As soon as I close the webui, it's broken again when I select a new station. Normally the SB3 is the only thing connected. I navigate using its menus not via phone/tablet/PC etc, so there is no webui open for me. It used to work although I have not used it much recently so I can't say when it broke. If you have a boom I would expect the same behaviour (if it is the only thing connected at the time). Thanks. Some answers: I have the latest Raspberry Pi OS (as Raspbian is now called). I only built the RPi4 a couple of months ago but I have updated everything today to be sure. I have the latest version of LMS v7.9.4 and I have uninstalled and reinstalled iPlayer v1.6.9 again today. Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.4 - 1600144323 @ Wed Sep 16 04:15:19 CEST 2020 Hostname: raspberrypi Server IP Address: 192.168.0.34 Server HTTP Port Number: 9000 Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8 Platform Architecture: armv7l-linux Perl Version: 5.28.1 - arm-linux-gnueabihf-thread-multi-64int Audio::Scan: 1.02 IO::Socket::SSL: 2.060 Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.58 (sqlite 3.22.0) Total Players Recognized: 1 I tried all the main stations not just Radio 3. I mainly use it for 4/5/6/London. No difference if selecting from favourites or playing from the app menu. Re waiting for 30 seconds - doesn't matter how long you wait, the info doesn't come up unless you press right then left to go in and out of the options. This also fixes it if you do it instantly upon playing the station. The delay in settings was 15s but it was no different with 0s or 30s, so I put it back to 15s. Ignore my comment about jerky scrolling - iPlayer has always done this anyway on the VFD screens. By jerky I just mean several pixels at a time rather than smooth like when playing non-iPlayer stations or library music. I confused matters by mentioning it in this context, it's not relevant. (There are no network issues anyway. Rpi4 is plugged into the router at 1Gbps. SB3 is wireless but in the same room with line of sight and 89% strength on webui.) I've been trying to get it working for a few days so it's also not about being unlucky and trying when the programmes are changing. I have just installed the latest 7.9.4 on my Windows PC as an experiment. Fresh install, all I did was install the repo and then the iPlayer app, change the two settings to show on air text and bottom line. Went in to the Radio menu on the SB3, selected live stations. exactly the same problem. No difference whatsoever. So my RPi4 installation is innocent. I will report if I detect any problem. jd68's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30795 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109624 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Sure. I've just installed the development version and initial impressions are that it's working fine on all lists, short and long. Will report back if I encounter issues. bwaldron's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1073 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109624 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hi Craig, could you please provide more details on how to install the 'devel' version of Material skin. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/CDrummond/lms-material/*devel*/public.xml has the same content as https://raw.githubusercontent.com/CDrummond/lms-material/*master*/public.xml. Both will download the version 1.9.1. jd68's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30795 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109624 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: RadioNet plugin to enable playing stream from the radio.net service
V1.3 - Small fixes to RadioNet plugin. Radionet plugin is available through LMS 3rd party repository - V1.3 will become available when LMS repo is updated. - After a Search - fix the "unable to parse" error when looking at page 2,3,etc of search - No need to restart LMS after changing country setting. Only have to get out of Radionet menu. Clarification on Favorite behaviour If RadioNet Favorite is saved while playing on Touch or by "Save to Favorites" on older SB UI (e.g. Sb2, SB3, Transporter, Boom) - no station icon will be saved. This is LMS issue. If a Radionet station has been saved as a Favorite from WebUI or Squeezeplay/Touch/Radio/Jivelite - then "Touch to Play" on Squeezeplay/Radio/Touch/Jivelite will not work. There may be an LMS solution but if really needed now there is a workaround. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111951 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

OK you got a point - that is trying to display relevant program info with the estimated time stamp of the playing stream - it's a possibility I didn't think of. Usually only happens with skip back. Usually start delay is 15 secs but maybe if delay is set to minutes and user is unlucky to be always start playing the stream just when programs starting/stopping e.g. on the hour or half hour - but then people are creatures of habit (e.g it's Fri 6:30 - time for the News Quiz) bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109826 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I asusme you areplaying a BBCRadio 3 live. How are you playing the Station - from BBCiPlayer menu ? From a favorites ? Other ? SB3 players are dumb - the interface and all screen & remote activities are done in the LMS and nothing to do with plugin so "fiddling " left /right are just wasting time, you might as well wait & twiddle thumbs for 30 secs. Whn playing a live stream, the BBCiPlayer plugin first connects player to a stream and *once* it is playing, plugin then has to go fetch "live" program data. This can take up to 30 secs before usable data arrives but if there are network issues it can take longer. Player animation should be smooth. I have a Boom with an Rpi4 and it is smooth. Jerky usually indicates network issues. How is Rpi4 connected to network ? How is SB3 connected to network ? If SB3 uses wireless, What is the wireless signal strength for Sb3 as reported on WebUI/Settings/Information page ? bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109826 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
