Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2011-07-30 Thread Mod74

UPDATE:

Having tested the MP3 stream over the default FLAC it seems to be
holding onto the stream to just the Boom much better. Dare I say even
perfectly.

Takes a little longer to initialise the stream for some reason but once
it's going it's fine. Still drifts but from our conversations I think
that just goes with the territory.

Now to try linking up the two extra software/open peak/Joggler frames.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2011-07-25 Thread Mod74

Hi.

I have.

Dedicated P4 media PC
Latest nightly build of SBS
Wavin
Squeezebox Boom
2x Software players (OpenPeak frame running Rhubarbs player)

PC is connected to main router via ethernet. Second router is connected
to that via ethernet. The only devices connected to second router are
the Boom and OpenPeak frames.

At the moment I only have the Boom connected.

Playback is initialised from Zune (DRM files) and then picked up by
wavin.

Playback will be fine but drifts out around a second for every 5 or 6
hours its running. Approximately.

Over the course of a couple of days it goes up to 10-15 seconds so I
select a radio stream and then reselect wavin (via favourites button on
the boom) and it usually kicks back to 1 or 2 second delay.

Quite a lot of the time even when just streaming to the Boom alone the
stream gets bogged down and is buffering every couple of minutes.

Playback from the main SBS library (non DRM tracks) and radio streams
are almost always fine.

Is there a way to tone down the quality levels the wavin plugin
produces. I know there's command line options but i don't really
understand how they're invoked as the wavin plugin just starts
automatically when I initilise playback. That would probably help the
buffering (which really, is the main problem) but I'm at a loss as to
why it continues to drift.

Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry to be a div but where are the settings for Wavin?

On SettingsAdvancedfileTypes

Wave Input:
FLAC ^^Disabled/wavin2cmd-flac
MP3 ^^ Disabled
PCM ^^ Disabled/wavin2cmd

There doesn't seem to an option to enable MP3. If I disable Flac and
PCM does that Enable MP3 by default?

I'm planning on putting HomePlug sockets on all three boxes in the near
future.

Thanks for that. Sorry for the noob question.

LAME seems to have installed by just copying the file as per the Wiki

give it a proper road test over the next few days.

Thanks again.

Yeah, you said it drifted because software players lacked proper
timing, so I bought a Boom and it still drifts.

Is there something specific wrong with SBS or the network you can
suggest as it works fine, then difts, then comes back in if I reset it.

wavin is the only thing that does drift, and reseting fix the problem,
so I'm sorry but I have a hard time seeing the reason it drifts as
being anyting other than the plugin.

It's got to the point now where it seems to be producing too large a
stream to stream nicely (radio and normal mp3 playback is fine) so
unless I can tweak the setting I'm going to have to give up on Zune
playback and use something else like Spotify.

Cheers.

Just to say that I eventually caved (or rather my credit card did) and
I've bought a Boom. As of right now the Wavin is running near
perfectly with much lower delay and much quicker buffering. The only
thing left to check is how much it drifts over time.

Thanks again for the original plug-in, and thanks for the help trying
to get it running nice of my software player.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2010-11-09 Thread Mod74

I've just checked and both the PC and the OpenPeak ping a time server. I
also noticed one was set to 12hr and one 24 so I set them to match. If
that doesn't help I'll try changing them both to the same server, but
on the OpenPeak it's hard to tell if it's actually making a sucessful
ping to the server or not. No idea how to go about forcing frequent
updates on either device.

The problem I had seemed to stem from buffering, but it's impossible to
tell whether it's the server, the plug in, the network or the player.

In desperation I've installed the 7.6 nightly, and re-installed wavin.
Touch wood it's working nicely again. For now.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2010-11-08 Thread Mod74

Hi, sorry, me again.

I've noticed that wavin can drift out over a period of time. The two
seconds can become 7, 8 or more.

This might be because of a number of factors, different devices
connecting at different times and the PC going in and out of standby, I
don't know.

So I was wondering is there a command line to stop, flush and then
restart the service? And could that be included in a batch file. I say
batch as that's my only reference for storing commands, I've a feeling
there's more modern ways of doing it.

I checked the wiki and nothing in the comand line reference leapt out
at me. I guess I could kill the process in Process list, or restart the
Squeezserver, but that doesn't seem very elegant.

Thanks. Again.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2010-11-08 Thread Mod74

There's definitely a few factors at play, but if I swap from the stream
to a library track on the device, or close and re-launch it, the stream
stays out by more than it was.

If I stop squeezeserver then start it again, reconnect the player the
stream is back down to 1-2 second delay.

I don't know exactly what element causes it, but being able to quickly
restart wavin seems to be the shortest shortcut to getting things back
in sync?

Yes, there's 3 players synced.

Playing from the normal library is fine, it's only wavin that tends to
drift out. Any idea what the SBS sync settings should be changed to,
currently they are:

Radio Station Buffer seconds: 3
Radio Station Timeout: 5
Maximum WMA Stream: No Limit
Sychronised Players Startup Delay: Blank
UPnP Client: Disabled

Library Stats: Enable
Artwork resampling: Resample
ArtworkPrecching: Pre-cache
Server Priority: Current
Scanner Priority:0
Max Playlist length 500

OPML Browser: Disabled

FileTypes
Wav:
Flac: Sox
MP3: Disabled
PCM: native

WavIn
FLAC: wmadec/flac
MP3: Disabled
PCM: wavin2cmd

Thanks.

I'll try that, but previously I've had three running at the same time on
the same network.

I've just noticed as well that there are two and sometimes three
wavincmd.exe entries in the Process manager list, I'm sure before there
was only one.

If it's double lauching could they be overriding each other?

2010-11-04 Thread Mod74

Hi,

I appreciate the advice and realise it's done on your own time, so
thanks.

However, I think I've just discovered that it might not have anything
to do with wavincmd at all.

I've tried playing a several songs via the main library and I got two
songs playing on top of one another with a 2 second offset.

I checked and there's only one apparently squeezesvr.exe in the process
list.

I was also initially problems with connecting to the library even
though the PC said it was running.

Going back to do some more re-boots/testing, but if anyone knows why I
might be getting two pieces of normal playback at the same time, please
shout!

Right, so I've just turned Start Automatically off, re-booted and
methodically tested when the player could connect, and finally launched
Sserver manually.

Normal playback is fine again, wavincmd is fine.

I don't know how I ended up with two running at the same time, didn't
think it was possible, but I've learnt a lesson and it might help
others.

Sorry for assuming it was a problem with wavin and jumping straight in
this thread without more testing, but thanks again for your help.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

I've sorted now, but for ref the player is an O2/OpenPeak frame with a
build of the player on it.

Rebooting that still produced two streams. Not sure exactly what player
sw it's based on, I think the Touch.

It seems almost certain I'd somehow got two instances of Squeeze server
running. Dunno how, maybe Windows allowed me to do it as I'm logged in
as a proper administrator rather than the built in admin account.

2010-10-26 Thread Mod74

Hi,

I have this working and if I start the audio on the PC then the audio
on the device (Joggler running Squeezeplay) then I get audio after 2
seconds.

I've been through the Wiki and every page of this thread looking for
settings that might reduce the delay even further...or is about 2
seconds as low as it will go?

I've got a dedicated machine so can afford to give it as much
processing cycles as it needs.

Also, I've notcied that using the webinstaller it puts the plugin in
the AppData/Local/Squeeze/Cache folder? And soletimes it sems to forget
that it's there. Should I move it to the main Squeeze folder under
Program Files? (Win7, latest version of SqueezeServer)

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Seens as it's currently working I won't try to

Did someone say it was possible to put the stream into a Playlist to
have a different name displayed? Does that let you specify an image to
be displayed at the same time?

Thanks for getting this out there, I really appreciate it. It's letting
me run a touchscreen WMC front end AND pick up my Zune Pass DRM
