Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2014-11-08 Thread Ron Olsen

I am having a problem with Spotify search.

Running LMS 7.9.0 - 1414161650 @ Sat 25 Oct 10:01:00 BST 2014 from
Squeeze Community repo on VortexBox 2.3 (Fedora 20), with Spotify plugin
v2.3.9.

After entering a search term, the following message appears (after about
35 seconds):

Error reading headers: Server closed connection without sending any data
back at /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/Net/HTTP/Methods.pm line 306.
...propagated at /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/Net/HTTP/NB.pm line
32.

Updated LMS to Squeeze Community testing version LMS 7.9.0 - 1414759442
@ Sat 1 Nov 09:26:24 GMT 2014
and get same error message on Spotify search.

Any idea what's wrong?

 Thanks

1. On the LMS web page, find the album using the Spotify plugin Search

2. On the album line, click the M icon on the right.

3. Click Add Album to Library.

4. The Album will show up in your Spotify plugin library.

I hope Andy can arrange a testing session with developers on the Sirius

 Hi Pippin,

The resampling trick did work, the big album art in the Now Playing
resume normal, however, the small album art when browse in Album still
not good. Do you know where to control the resolution of this small
 album art?

Just wonder why the same music library, same iPeng, same SB3, same
SqueezeCentre but running in Windows has no such problem.

FYI, I use iPeng with SBS on a VortexBox Appliance and the artwork
displays just fine on iPeng, both the large now-playing artwork and the
small thumbnails in the Albums display.

Here are my SBS Settings:

Settings-Advanced-Performance-Artwork resampling: Resample Artwork
(Slower, better quality)
Settings-Advanced-Performance-Artwork Pre-caching: Pre-cache
artwork
Settings-Interface-Thumbnail Size: 100

My iPeng settings:

Big Cover Art: off

My advice:

1. Make sure you have SBS and iPeng set up with the above settings.
2. On the SBS: Go to Settings-Basic Settings-Rescan Library, select
Clear library and rescan everything, and click Rescan.
3. When the rescan completes, go to iPeng-iPeng Settings and select
Flush Cache.

This has always worked for me.

What machine are you running VortexBox on? Is it a VortexBox Appliance
or a PC? If a PC, what kind? How fast is the processor? How much memory?
Is your artwork embedded in the music files, or in a
cover.jpg/folder.jpg file in the album directory? What size is your
artwork?

I have no embedded artwork and use cover.jpg/folder.jpg files
exclusively. The smallest are 300x300; many are 500x500 and 600x600.

I have bsolutely no issues with artwork display on iPeng with SBS on a
VortexBox Appliance.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-02-03 Thread Ron Olsen

I've come across a problem that appears with iPeng and also with the
Duet Controller: I can't add a Rhapsody album to the end of the
playlist.

With iPeng, I go to my Rhapsody library, select an album, set iPeng in
the + mode, and tap Add all. I check the playlist and nothing has
been added.

I go back and set iPeng in the | mode, and tap Add all, and the
songs are added after the current song in the playlist.

I see similar behavior with the Duet Controller. Trying to add all
songs from a Rhapsody album to the end of the playlist does not work;
adding all songs after the current song does work.

Adding all songs from a Rhapsody album to the end of the playlist does
work from the SBS web GUI. (I'm running SBS 7.4.2-r29963).

I'm guessing that this is actually an SBS/Rhapsody bug and not a
problem with iPeng, since the problem also occurs with the Duet
Controller. But I thought I'd mention it here to see if there are any
workarounds that could be developed for iPeng to fix the problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng poll: Do you use Album art touch to play?

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the
results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73237

Question: What do you think about quot;touch-to-play-albumquot; for
cover art in iPeng?

- I don't use this and it disturbs me
- I don't care

I agree that iPeng should be geared toward long-term efficient use and I
find it does that very well.

But I just checked the native Music app on my iPod Touch -- it does NOT
play an album when you touch the album art -- it just shows the track
list for the album. Thus the behavior of iPeng differs from the native
Music app in this respect.

Sorry, with that comment I meant the Play Shuffled behavior only.

The point is that the native Music app does not destroy an existing
playlist when you touch the album art -- if a goal of iPeng is to be
consistent with the native Music app, then the touch album art to play
album and destroy playlist feature should be deleted, or at least made
an option and not the default.

I, too, have blown away playlists accidentally by touching album
artwork. I think the best solution would be to make this an iPeng
setting. Default setting: touch album artwork clears the playlist and
plays the album. Turning off this setting: touch album artwork displays
album tracks. Those of us with fumble fingers will be much happier with
this setup.

I recently bought an iPod Touch (running iPhone OS 3.1.1) and downloaded
the iPeng app (9/28/09). I'm running SqueezeCenter 7.3.3 in a system
with three Duets and and Transporter.

I find that the display showing the players and the music sources
sometimes doesn't scroll when I flick the screen on the iPod Touch -- it
says frozen in one spot. Sometimes scrolling works, but most of the time
this display is frozen and won't scroll.

Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong?

 1. Note time
 2. Try a station
 3. Copy into a plain text file *all* log entries from noted time until
end of test. Zip file and attach to a post.
I turned on the above logging options and looked at the resulting log.
The key log entry:
[09-05-18 04:46:03.4219] Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper::checkBin
(260)couldn't find binary for: mplayer.sh

I checked
/var/lib/squeezecenter/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Alien/Bin/mplayer.sh
and found that the permissions were as follows:

# ls -l mplayer.sh
-rw-r--r-- 1 squeezecenter squeezecenter 1295 2009-05-06 20:08
mplayer.sh

I added execute permissions:
# chmod +x mplayer.sh

I retried the test, and everything worked as it should.

Perhaps execute permissions should be added to mplayer.sh to prevent
this problem.

I'm running SqueezeCenter 7.3.2 on Gentoo Linux, and just installed the

When I try to play a stream (for example, Guy Garvey's Finest Hour in
BBC 6 Music), I get the following error in

I see the artwork for the show on my SqueezeCenter web interface, but
nothing plays due to the above error.

I get a similar error with every other stream that I try.

However, the following command works and plays the stream on my
computer:

mplayer

Any idea what's going wrong and how to fix it?

2007-02-11 Thread Ron Olsen

In SlimServer-Server Settings-File Types-File Format Conversion
Setup, do you have the box checked for Windows Media - Windows Media
(built in) ?

XM Radio Online is a Windows Media (.wma) stream. You can play it using
the built-in wma decoder on the SB, which will be done if you have the
above box checked.

If you don't have the above box checked, then you will need mplayer to
decode the wma stream on the host. Mplayer is part of the AlienBBC
plugin, which should be installed for this approach to work.
