This is strange - not seen or heard of this behaviour before.. What

Also the stop button in the lower right corner is not operating.

Ah ha ! Well spotted.. Yeah, just fixed this.. Been puzzling me for a while

Besides this, the program runs smoothly and is very nice !

Glad you like it.. I'll try and get a new version out at some point soon..
Got some juicy new bits which I think people may find handy..

Yes, I was suspicous too because of the - -, but I double checked:
there's only spaces between the - -.

Actually for me it seemed faster with fast scan disabled, but could be
because I had scanned the db before and maybe there's caching involved
somewhere.

Anyays, too bad the cover art downloading is disabled.. but to avoid

Is there any place where one can download a (non release) version with

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Moose 0.55

2007-03-28 Thread sjokotof

I'm having trouble getting Moose to play album/artist containing special
characters.
As it has full Unicode support I suppose it must be some setting on my
system (WinXPS P2).

I scanned from library source=folders.
When I try to play files from a folder with a lowercase 'u acute' in
its name, the Moose log shows this as %c3%ba (in bitmap cache) and also
as %C3%83%C2%BA (from filesystem) as the fragment below shows.

Any ideas what I can do to make it play without renaming folders (which
does work)?

The way the code is at the moment makes Moose a bit unusable when
turned on.. I'll have another look at it and maybe enable it in the next
release..

In the meantime the Tools-Amazon Lookup menu item uses the same
bit of amazon searching code to find the currently playing album.. The
cover lookup just uses this code to display the bitmap on the found amazon
page..

It would be worth trying the mysql scanning method - the only thing you
need to do to get it working is edit the my.tt file on the server, and you only
need to do that if your server's on a seperate machine to Moose. Full
details are on the website..

Ah ok. so I thought it would look up the missing cover art on amazon and
automatically save it to the respective album folder (or even better the
mp3tag as well), so it would slowly build up the cover library while it
played. That would be awesome :-)

But it wasn't thought to be this way, but just download and display the
missing cover everytime a song without cover is played?

Well, once I have the cover bitmap, I can add an option to save it quite
easily. It would save it to the thumbnails folder anyhow, so next time it
wouldnt need to pester amazon.

The problem saving it back to the server is mapping the currently playing
track to a physical folder. It's quite easy to find the track URL local to
the server machine, but that then needs mapping to a network share,
and it also needs to deal with shortcuts and mapped folders..

It's something I've wanted to do for a while though as it means Moose
could display ALL the bitmaps in an album's folder, so front, back,
booklet, etc.. Also any text files there, and even bitmaps for artists..

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Moose 0.55

2007-03-26 Thread Micha123

Unfortunately moose is causing a problem on my system..
when scanning the database it gets to about 74% then it stops with the
error Problem MySQL Scanning: Die Eingabezeichenfolge hat das falsche
Format, which would roughly mean something like the stream of input
characters is in an incorrect format in English.

Anyone has any ideas why this is happening?

Maybe in some song title (which is of course impossible to find in the
databse) there's a character which moose doesnt like. But theres no way
to find it without even having an idea what character it could be.. and
even if I knew it would be hard enough, since it might possible be just
in the mp3 tag.

Anyways.. this shouldnt be happening at all, so the question is anyone
has an idea how to fix it? Maybe the developper? :-)

Most happy to help with testing anything.

I'll try and get you a screenshot - but the rendering issues are not
that common, the main stuff is the remembering of positiond and failure
to maximise.

The only rendering issue I can recall right now is that once the track
progress bar kept going off the right of the edge of the window, ie it
seemed to think it was bigger than it was, probably after a (failed)
maximisation test.

Let me know what I can do to help!

Also, is there a way to have moose run an sb3 and something like

Interesting.. If you open and close the preferences dialog it makes Moose
reconnect to the server, so it's probably some bad code in there.. Must
admit I've not tested non-tags mode for a while, so it's quite likely
something's
broken - I'll look into it..

There's an option to launch softsqueeze on the PC that Moose is running on.
It's down the players menu.. After it starts, you should be able to sync it to
other players via the player preferences dialog, although it should remember
if it was previously synced, so next time things should be easier..

Ooops, well spotted.. Just fixed this (I think).. New build available
from the files section of http://groups.google.com/group/moosenews

I've also tweaked the cover chooser menus a bit.. The genre menu
will probably turn into a dialog at some point.. I've limited the menu
to 200 entries, as it takes a while to build on the fly..

Enjoy,

What exactly did you mean by this? I can still resize the rescanning progress
bar, and when it displays artwork it stretches the artwork vertically.

Ahh, there were problems with the new titlebar in the window - possibly
only affected the test versions.. It looked pretty terrible, but it's back to
normal now.. I'll sort the artwork stretching at some point..

Yup, that got rid of the error. The Library/Cover Chooser is starting
up minimized for me but is working fine after I maximize it.

Thanks again.

Thanks for this, Doctor L. Best so far - I get Tannhaüser with an
umlaut at last (as well as all the rest...)

Now all I need is MusicIP integration - RandomMix is fine but MusicIP
really sets the collection free.

Cheers

Well, I've had a few people ask if there's a dedicated mailing list for
updates and stuff - guess it saves wading through the forums, etc..

Also having google host the download should save me a bit of
bandwidth.. I'll see how it goes..

Hi Doctor.

I'm running into a problem with 0.55. When I try to open the cover
chooser I get the error

'maxValue' must be greater than zero.
Parameter name: maxValue.

I'm running it on XP. It is working fine at work on a Win2k PC pointed
at the same slimserver (6.5.1).

All previous versions have been fine on this machine. I love the new
cover chooser, very cool!

Thanks Doc.

Here's some more for you.

** Exception Text **
System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: 'maxValue' must be greater than
zero.
Parameter name: maxValue
at System.Random.Next(Int32 maxValue)
at Moose.LibraryCoverChooserParticle.CreateParticle(Color c)
at Moose.LibraryCoverChooserParticle..ctor(Color c)
at Moose.LibraryCoverChooser.CreateParticles_Albums_Paged(Int32
nMaxCount, Int32 nStartOffset, Boolean bRepopulate)
at Moose.LibraryCoverChooser.CreateParticles(Int32 nRequired,
Boolean bRepopulate)

I'll cut it off there.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Moose 0.55

2007-03-08 Thread Dr Lovegrove
Just uploaded a new version of Moose (windows slim frontend) to the
usual place (http://www.rusticrhino.com/drlovegrove).

I've also created a google-group
(http://groups.google.com/group/moosenews) which I'll cc any new
version announcements to. Not sure how it'll work out, but feel free
to subscribe and post moose-related stuff.

Right, 0.55 changes:

* Multi-byte/unicode characters now fully supported
* Library - Added dock-in-nowplaying-window ability via title-bar buttons
* Cover chooser - defaults to new whizzy layout mode with slider and
page buttons
* Cover chooser - new alpha bar for quick selections
* Cover chooser - settings remembered
* Now Playing - Double-click the now-playing splitter control to
minimize/un-minimize it
* Now Playing - Song Info menu item in context menu - currently shells
out to browser
* Now playing - Stopped buttons vanishing on resizing
* All title-bars now custom rendered
* Toast now rendered via a bitmap, so should hopefully be much smoother
* Toast tooltip uses normal toast display method
* Fixes for progress bar dialog size

Enjoy,
