Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] KidsPlay 2.2.0 on SC 7.4: Boom Preset not defined

2009-09-16 Thread smagnuson

Peter,

When my Boom alarm went off this morning (running KP 2.2.2 and SC 7.4
build 28532), I couldn't turn it off with the power button. The button
was non-functional. I did a reset on the Boom and restarted SC to get
back to a normal state. Then, I downgraded to KP 2.2.0 (kept 7.4 build
28532), and everything is now working fine. All the buttons work as
expected.

Thanks,

Steve

I'm glad to hear that. I would recommend you downgrade to 2.2.0 --
2.2.2 should mostly work (especially with the core Logitech code), but
2.2.0 will more reliably remap the buttons than 2.2.2. I'll probably
wipe 2.2.2 from my test repo pretty soon, especially since it's no good
for the JVC remotes that my child uses frequently. :-)

Peter,

I've been following bug 14007, which you opened a couple of days ago.
Today I see that Andy reverted to the old IR behavior in the recent 7.4
build (28532), so I downloaded it. It worked fine with KidsPlay 2.2.0 -
full button functionality was restored. Then, I downloaded KidsPlay
2.2.2 and installed it under 7.4 build 28532. It works, too. As
always, thanks for your prompt reply and for a great plugin.

Regards,

Steve

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] KidsPlay 2.2.0 on SC 7.4: Boom Preset not defined

2009-09-14 Thread peterw

Steve, please try version 2.2.2 or newer, in my test repository:
http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/slim7/repodata-test.xml

It seems to have the Boom button handling working in 7.4, and should
have the Receiver button handling working there, too (though I have not
tested that). It definitely has problems with JVC DVD codes -- getting
that working will take more effort.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] KidsPlay 2.2.0 on SC 7.4: Boom Preset not defined

2009-09-12 Thread peterw

OK, I believe I have found the problem. Prior to August 1st, it was
possible to "intercept" or "wrap" IR button commands pretty easily -- SC
executed an 'ir' CLI command when a button was pressed. Now SC/SBS
handles these button presses completely internally. All a 3rd party
plugin can do now in 7.4 is ask the server to let it know after the
button has been pressed, by which time it's too late for the plugin to
take any action.

I've opened a bug on this issue,
https://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14007, and at this point I
don't expect to spend time trying to work around the change in SC/SBS.
The only workaround that comes to mind at the moment seems rater
inelegant and inefficient, and I'm hopeful that Logitech will take pity
on us and restore the old behavior. :-)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] KidsPlay 2.2.0 on SC 7.4: Boom Preset not defined

2009-09-12 Thread peterw

Steve,

I've been out of pocket for a week, but I'll take a look. mnyb's theory
would have been my first guess, too, but that doesn't seem to be right.
KidsPlay should intercept all "IR" commands, and look at the button
names, e.g. IR code 0x00010025 is preset_6.down. Despite the change in
how presets & favorites are handled in 7.4, those IR code names have not
changed. So something else must've changed in the core SC/SBS code from
Logitech.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] KidsPlay 2.2.0 on SC 7.4: Boom Preset not defined

2009-09-09 Thread Mnyb

I guess here: 7.4 has introduced a new variable here.

preset and favorites are different things now.

7.3.x buttons are tied to favourite 1,2,..n yes .

Not so in 7.4 the 1-6 button has now preset's which are local to that
player and can as it is now only be set from the front panel.
(or I bet be hacked in some file but.. )

So the plugin writer have to rethink this for awhile I think .

[SlimDevices: Plugins] KidsPlay 2.2.0 on SC 7.4: Boom Preset not defined

2009-09-08 Thread smagnuson

Hello, Peter:

I upgraded to 7.4 a few days ago to coincide with an upgrade to Snow
Leopard on my Mac Mini. All of my plugins work well with the exception
of KidsPlay 2.2.0. I had presets 5 and 6 defined via KidsPlay under
7.3.3, but now when I press either button I get "Preset #5|6 not
defined" on my Boom's display.

For example, Preset 5 is set to toggle the headphone output:
kidsplaytoggleclientpref analogOutMode 0 3

The Boom's KidsPlay player setting for "How KidsPlay should deal with
users pressing the 1-6 preset buttons on a Squeezebox Boom, or the lone
button on a Squeezebox Receiver" is set to "KidsPlay routine or normal
function".Any ideas?Thanks again for a great plugin.

Regards,

Steve
