Don't quite understand what this is asking for? iPlayer 0.7 supports
noweb-sqlite and I am running it all the time for this. It only shows
the menus provided by bcc xml feeds. These include the latest wma feeds
for the url for listen live.

What's missing?

There is nothing Alien specific in the code but it would be up to
Triode to add it to BBCiPlayer. I don't think there will be much ongoing
maintenance which is the main concern about plugins.

First we need to see how well it works in AlienBBC. It uses a BBC
database/WebAPI (
http://www0.rdthdo.bbc.co.uk/services/api/bbc.schedule.getProgrammes.html
) but I'm not sure how reliable it is - it has been OK for the past
month but yesterday was slow/offline.

I'm doing a maintenance update of AlienBBC mainly for 7.4noweb-sqllite
but also because non UK can listen to WMA. Part of the update is adding
"Now & Next" program info to live national stations both WMA and
RealAudio.

The BBC have changed the handling of UK vs non-UK so all use the same
URLs so you would get UK speeds on the WMA streams. When I get the
update out, it may offer you an alternative to RadioTime.

Why bother with RadioTime - why not go direct to BBC and use More Radio
-> BBC -> Radio XX.

Recently BBC have reduced all non-UK (WMA,Real, AAC) streams to 48K
from 64k.

Depending on your location, the station and whether you have RealAudio
installed RadioTime can decide to use RealAudio streams and not WMA
stream.

Same problem here. iPlayer 'listen now' works fine though. The whole
radiotime thing is just annoying now - it's meant to make internet radio
more accessible and reliable, it's worse then ever now.

Whats going on with the BBC feeds anyway? I just cant keep up, they now
seem to be a shocking 48kbps through RadioTime. I'm sure a short while
back they were 96kbps WMA and even MP3.

OK been playing...

Even with a device that's not registered with SqueezeNetwork if I first
change my source to be SqueezeNetwork then I can get these BBC streams
to play. Oh and I still don't get graphics or programme info via
this route.

However I've never had to do that in the past, and other than setting
it as a Favourite would mean I have to keep changing my source when I
want to listen to ripped CD's off my local server.

So have RadioTime.com and SqueezeNetwork changed their respective
setups this last week?

BTW couldn't find my PIN number for the device I tried this out on and
it's definitely not listed in my player list on SqueezeNetwork.

Use the BBC ASX is a fallback so that you can play a stream if all esle
fails.

The RadioTime issue sounds like a config one - you should check your
RadioTime/SN account details to make sure it is set up correct (e.g.
country)

Since you are in the UK - have you tried the BBCiPlayer plugin ? With
it you can get better quality audio feeds which I think would be more
important that stations logos.

and either the URLs are not up to date or there is some other issue.

Since there are only a few stations and you always use them it would be
better for you to create a few favorites and go straight to BBC without

Either 500 Internal Error (which I don't get from Squeezeplay), or

500 error only comes from remote server.

The error may have occurred once but SC caches it. I am not sure but if
you keep trying quickly - SC will used the cached response and so it
will look like the server is down for longer than it actually is.

You could try a longer response timeout as Windows has a long timeout
value whereas SC normally defaults to 5 secs.

I've not changed anything in my setup since getting the WHS. It only

together with uPnP turned on, as is my router.

I just find it really odd that one morning the Alarm works just fine on
Radio 2 and the next day it doesn't :-?

My friend has confirmed that he's using the same radiotime.com url's as

what to check.

Do you know the particular post in question that this other user found
the issue to be security s/w?

The problem is in your PC and/or network connection. Something is
blocking internet access getting the asx info (i.e. the mms url you just
played) from BBC. Using the URL direct bypasses the asx fetch and SC
passes the URL straight to SB. Since it plays OK - the problem is in the
ASX fetch by PC.

Another user found the problem was the Security s/w.

respective setups. The only difference being he has a boom whereas I
have the kit in my sig, none of which will stream BBC radio channels.
UK Commercial stations still work, well at least the two local to me
do.

Symtoms I get are that the channel information scrolls on the display,
but no buffering takes place and no sound to be heard.

I discovered this on Tuesday morning when my Alarm didn't go off that's
setup to play BBC Radio 2 that I have in my favourites. But even
selecting the station from the source menu's failed too.

Yours confused :-?

If the user is outside of the UK the WMA URL will fail - in which case

(RealAudio) URL as a 2nd URL in a playlist and this will then play.
It's been a while since I tested this scenario so it may have changed
but confusion arises about the playing URL as SC will show that the
first WMA URL is playing when it is actually playing the RTSP URL.

Cheers. although I' still confused as to why my friend can still access
the radio channels using the method that no longer works for me. I am
still waiting to find out the exact url he's using but he categorically
states he's not using AlienBBC or iPlayer.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] bbc radio problem

2009-05-20 Thread bpa

Within SC - there are many places where a BBC live station can be played
but whether the URL is correct/working will depend on who is maintaining
that menu item.

1. Staff Picks & More Radio which I think are SC supplied URLs.
2. Local and World - which are supplied by RadioTime
3. AlienBBC
4. BBCiPlayer plugin.

All of these sources have to track the BBC and any changes the BBC
makes to their URLs. At the moment I think Staff Picks & More Radio are
out of date but should be updated shortly.

Use 3.8 or 3.9b1

For future reference :

solution to my BBC iPlayer problem was that the plugin doesn't work
through Softsqueeze.

As soon as I got to an environment where I had squeezeboxes it worked
just fine.

HydeTheDarkerSide,

Since you have not provided any system info - I shall assume you are
just using the SC provided URLs on a 7.3.x systems.

These URLs are broken as a result of BBC changes.

If you are inthe UK install BBCiPlayer plugin and use the menu items
within the BBCiPlayer menu.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] bbc radio problem

2009-05-19 Thread HydeTheDarkerSide

I don't appear to be able to stream any BBC radio station (UK resident)
:-?

Local commercial radio streams work OK. But friends appear to be able
to stream Radio 1 for example.

However I navigate to Radio 2 for example just scrolls the channel name
with no audio whereas kestral or 2TenFM stream just fine.

Even if I use the Search feature using 'BBC' and then select from there
it doesn't stream either. Tried all my slim devices including
softsqueeze. None of them will output audio.

Any thoughts?

There seems to be a problem with the BBC URLs used in the Internet Radio

SD.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] bbc radio problem

2009-05-19 Thread bpa

No BBCiplayer or AlienBBC plugin comes with SC installation.

You had to have installed them explicitly. However they have been
updated recently and it is important to know specifically which version.

To get the version no all you need do is look at WebUI Settings/Plugins
page to get the version info.

If you are in the UK - don't bother with AlienBBC just use BBCiPlayer.

The BBC 500 internal error is usually a BBC problem and not an SC or
plugin problem. A lot of other users have encountered it - do a search
to see if they found a solution.

The 500 error normally comes up with bbCiplayer - are you sure you got
it from AlienBBC menus or was it from a Staff Picks menu ?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] bbc radio problem

2009-05-19 Thread aguess

just setting up a replacement slimcenter for someone.

fresh format, windows xp sp3 patched. McAfee enterprise 8.7i with
squeezecenter folder on the exclusions list. install of Squeezecenter
7.3.2. added one album, works fine.

only running softsqueeze lcoally at the moment.

if i try using AlienBBC to play BBC radio i get "500 internal server
error".
if i try using the iPlayer plugging, it just fails to stream anything.

if i run iplayer direct from the bbc web site it works fine.

any ideas on what i can try?

thanks.
