I'm doing a maintenance update of AlienBBC mainly for 7.4noweb-sqllite but also because non UK can listen to WMA. Part of the update is adding "Now & Next" program info to live national stations both WMA and RealAudio. Why bother with RadioTime - why not go direct to BBC and use More Radio -> BBC -> Radio XX. Recently BBC have reduced all non-UK (WMA,Real, AAC) streams to 48K from 64k. Depending on your location, the station and whether you have RealAudio installed RadioTime can decide to use RealAudio streams and not WMA stream. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63518 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Use the BBC ASX is a fallback so that you can play a stream if all esle fails. 500 error only comes from remote server. The error may have occurred once but SC caches it. I am not sure but if you keep trying quickly - SC will used the cached response and so it will look like the server is down for longer than it actually is. You could try a longer response timeout as Windows has a long timeout value whereas SC normally defaults to 5 secs. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63518 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

The problem is in your PC and/or network connection. Something is blocking internet access getting the asx info (i.e. the mms url you just played) from BBC. Radiotime will supply WMA URLs first - so if the user is in the UK they will play. If the user is outside of the UK the WMA URL will fail - in which case if the user has AlienBBC installed - RadioTime will supply a RTSP (RealAudio) URL as a 2nd URL in a playlist and this will then play. It's been a while since I tested this scenario so it may have changed but confusion arises about the playing URL as SC will show that the first WMA URL is playing when it is actually playing the RTSP URL. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63518 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Within SC - there are many places where a BBC live station can be played but whether the URL is correct/working will depend on who is maintaining that menu item. 1. Staff Picks & More Radio which I think are SC supplied URLs. 2. Local and World - which are supplied by RadioTime 3. AlienBBC 4. BBCiPlayer plugin. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] bbc radio problem
Ah found the Extension Downloader in the plugin section of settings, and once I'd gone into the settings for ED I was able to then select the BBC iPlayer add-in and yes I can hear audio from that thank-you. Try the live streams from the BBCiPlayer plugin. This uses the latest BBC streams. I sent Andy the details of these for SN last week, but it does not look like he has updated SN yet. -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63518 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] bbc radio problem
HydeTheDarkerSide, Since you have not provided any system info - I shall assume you are just using the SC provided URLs on a 7.3.x systems. These URLs are broken as a result of BBC changes. If you are inthe UK install BBCiPlayer plugin and use the menu items within the BBCiPlayer menu. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63518 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] bbc radio problem
I don't appear to be able to stream any BBC radio station (UK resident) :-? Local commercial radio streams work OK. But friends appear to be able to stream Radio 1 for example. However I navigate to Radio 2 for example just scrolls the channel name with no audio whereas kestral or 2TenFM stream just fine. Even if I use the Search feature using 'BBC' and then select from there it doesn't stream either. Tried all my slim devices including softsqueeze. None of them will output audio. Any thoughts? -- HydeTheDarkerSide 3 x Classics, 1 x Duet 1 pair Audio Engine 2's 1 x Tranquil WHS HydeTheDarkerSide's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14952 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63518 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] bbc radio problem
There seems to be a problem with the BBC URLs used in the Internet Radio menu and that is the cause of the 500 error - they need to be updated by SD. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63518 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

sorted on the AlienBBC front. thanks for clearing my mistake up. iPlayer not working, but not too bothered about that as this is for someone else and they're only used to Alien anyway (replacing their QNAP109/SlimServer with this). -- aguess aguess's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4006 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63518 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] bbc radio problem
No BBCiplayer or AlienBBC plugin comes with SC installation. You had to have installed them explicitly. However they have been updated recently and it is important to know specifically which version. To get the version no all you need do is look at WebUI Settings/Plugins page to get the version info. If you are in the UK - don't bother with AlienBBC just use BBCiPlayer. The BBC 500 internal error is usually a BBC problem and not an SC or plugin problem. A lot of other users have encountered it - do a search to see if they found a solution. The 500 error normally comes up with bbCiplayer - are you sure you got it from AlienBBC menus or was it from a Staff Picks menu ? -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63518 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

just setting up a replacement slimcenter for someone. fresh format, windows xp sp3 patched. McAfee enterprise 8.7i with squeezecenter folder on the exclusions list. install of Squeezecenter 7.3.2. added one album, works fine. only running softsqueeze lcoally at the moment. if i try using AlienBBC to play BBC radio i get "500 internal server error". if i try using the iPlayer plugging, it just fails to stream anything. if i run iplayer direct from the bbc web site it works fine. any ideas on what i can try? thanks. -- aguess aguess's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4006 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63518 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
