Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: [Announce] MusicInfoSCR screensaver updated

I think it would be even better if 'Repeat Off' and 'Shuffle Off' were
just blank; the abscence of an icon is easier to see than any of the
detail.

This is optionally possible from the plugins settings (don't use the show
always options).

I have a difficult time deciphering the current shuffle/repeat icons
from a distance... and put these together as an alternative. Opinions?

Thanks for the design! But there's one important point: the resolution of
these images (as of those on my web page where you might have taken the
measure) is double the one of the player. When scaled down to the real
size of 9x11 pixels they aren't recognizable any more. There's too much
detail to be represented with the given resolution.

BUT: I like them non the less. In fact I've recently been playing around
with the original icons as I wanted to use them for the SlimRemote - and
did not like them. I might have a try at using yours in that other app ;-)

BTW: Can your plugin display icons with more than 2 colors? If so, I
might be able to produce something somewhat more legible at 9x11...

Theoretically the SB2/3 have 4 shades of grey. But I'd like to keep the
plugin as compatible as possible with older players. I tried to simply
resample the images down to 9x11, but the result wasn't very convincing :-)

Yes, I can reproduce it at will.

Confirmed - for 6.5. InfoFormat moved to a new module. Consider 6.5 to be
experimental ;-).

Crash in musicInfoScr w/svn 5259 (trunk) w/ShoutCast:

Undefined subroutine Slim::Music::Info::infoFormat called at
C:/Program Files/SlimServer/server/Plugins/MusicInfoSCR.pm line 549.

Can you reproduce this? And what version is the plugin? I'm listening to
Shoutcast streams all day long while using the screensaver.

I'd say MusicInfoSCR isn't ready for 6.5 :-)

Looks like a use line might be required since infoFormat is still
used:

Thank. I'll check this.

This is a bit embarassing but yes. On the PC, I went to the listing of
MusicInfoSCR.pm copied into clipboard, then pasted into wordpad and
transferred it my Linkstation. All other plugins I downloaded, I
downloaded using normal download -- click on a link and download window
appears to open or save -- but for MusicInfoSCR.pm it just showed the
listing of the plugin.

You could always hit the right mouse button to Save target as... the
file.

Since I didn't know about wget, I resorted to
copy paste method.

Now you know it. It's quite usefull :-)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: [Announce] MusicInfoSCR screensaver updated

2005-11-17 Thread Richie
Hi,

I've been messing around with this for the last couple of days and it
looks really useful. Now I've got a question:

Taken from the website - The available Strings can be defined in
Server Settings/Formatting/Title Format where you can add new
definitions, too, if you want to.

I added a new format Artist (Album) as per these instructions, as
I'd like to see this on the top row and have the track title on the
bottom row. However, it doesn't show up in the drop down list on the
plugins page for each player. What have I missed?

(WinXP SP2 + Squeezebox2 + 6.2.1 nightly from 2005-11-13)

Thanks for any help.

There is a problem with this, I know. Problem is that the settings are
only initialized when the plugin is so. And under some other
circumstances... What you could do is disable and re-enable the plugin in
the plugins section to get it initialized. Or switch the language to eg.
chinese and back :-). Or, worst case, restart the slimserver (shouldn't be
necessary with the workarounds).

I'll have to think about a better solution than this.

1) with progressbar selected for top right, and icons set for top
right, show always, the bar and icons overlap

Yeah, and if the part left of the icon is too long, it will do so, too. :-(

2) with a side vis, the progressbar ends the column before the icons.
It might be nice to have even one pixel separation if possible.

What's the vis?!? I don't understand (and my dictionary does not offer any
help).

actually, turning the icons off then back on seems to avoid problem 1,

Thanks might help, thanks!

For the icons selection pulldown, something like no or do not show
might be more clear than a blank (which barely has any height in
firefox.

This should be simple enough.
