If you are using linux, then squeezelite offers similar features to squeezeslave and has high res support. For everybody playing with hi-rez support I needed to modify LMS to get it to send hi-rez to VortexBox Player. The default in LMS is to resample to 48k unless it's connected to a Touch or Transporter. If you ever get hi-rez support for SqueezeSlave working you will need to do the same. -- agillis rip, tag, get cover art All you do is insert the CD! http://vortexbox.org agillis Lead Developer VortexBox agillis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21140 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58740 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezeslave, 24/96 and SPDIF output options?
Squeezeslave is great, thank you for bringing this program to the world! I'm running it as part of www.squeezeplug.eu on a Goflex Net (low power consumption) and have attached one of the best and most affordable usb asynchronous dacs to it (all software and hardware is open source, check it out here http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-source/185761-open-source-usb-interface-audio-widget.html and here http://www.qnktc.com/ab_11/). High-Rez files are becoming more and more common. It would be gread if squeezeslave could pass-through music bit perfectly at higher sample rates and frequencies. -- ElEsido ElEsido's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50767 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58740 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezeslave, 24/96 and SPDIF output options?
Posted this in the General Forum but thought this might be a better spot for it: First. Love SqueezeSlave. Great work! I found myself looking for something like this because of hi-rez support. I was encouraged to see a wasapi version but upon using it, all my hi-rez material and SACD rips were down-sampled to 44.1khz. Of course, further reading shows that the limitation is within the original code of squeezeslave(correct me if I'm wrong). I use SPDIF output on my computer to an external DAC and the DAC displays what the sample rate is locked in at. My question is, isn't the point of a wasapi build to "passthrough" the audio file as is? If I launch XBMC and play the music file (using ffdshow codec, WASAPI SPDIF output within XMBC), the music same music files lock in at the correct sample sizes (ie 88khz, 176khz...etc). Is it possible to implement SqueezeSlave in a similar passthrough manner? Even the SqueezeBox hardware themselves are limited through SPDIF. The Touch maxes out at 96/24 and all other players before the Touch downsample hi-rez material to 48/24,16 or 44/24,16 . I was hoping SqueezeSlave would break the barrier. I have a Touch, 2 duets and a classic and have quite a few SACDs recently ripped that are sampled at 176/24 and 192/24. If SqueezeSlave can be implemented the way XMBC passes audio, I'll sell all my players and donate the profits to your team. I'm guessing many people would be willing to pay for a version like this because it would provide something Logitech does not currently provide. And yes, I could use XBMC but I'd have to organize multiple sets of playlists and VortexBox is not an option for me because I'm not ready to wipe out my existing media computer for a new OS -- donny619 donny619's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52001 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58740 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I have also built fanless PC (shuttle xs35v2 with ssd) + async USB DAC (Ayre QB-9) combo. I'm running Linux on it with Squeezeplay. It's headless setup using Xvnc. It plays bit perfect (small patch disables volume control on squeezeplay) and has seamless support for different sample rates and sample widths, up to 192/24. Gapless playback support is also fine. I could not really expect more. I am ally pleased with it and would recommend. -- kipeta kipeta's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=51816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58740 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I know this is very late reply, but how do you setup the server to transcode for squeezeplay? I find the ultra-slow speed playback for 24/96 files - amusing - at least for a sort time. But would far rather that the system just played the music rather than either failed to play it or caused my DAC to loose lock. :) Better yet of course, would be support for higher sample rates, and autoswitching. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezeslave, 24/96 and SPDIF output options?
Unfortunately not. Other than tracking the latest portaudio development sources and testing the wasapi version, I've done little with squeezeslave over the summer. Thankfully, I've been doing that as I've uncovered several bugs in portaudio which were quickly fixed. The original sources for squeezeslave were hard coded to support 16/44.1 everywhere so it's a major update to the code and I currently have no need to support higher sample rates. I'm planning to track down the buffering code issue which looks more like a race condition. Once that's fixed I'll release 1.0. There have been nearly 13,000 downloads of 0.9-133 and only a handful of users have asked for higher sample rate support. I think it's best to let everyone vote on the next feature(s) as squeezeslave does everything that I need it to do currently. If you'd like to start work on higer sample rate support, I'd be happy to walk through the code with you to help get you started. -- ralphy Ralphy *4*-Classics, *1*-Boom, *11*-Squeezeslaves 'Squeezeslave' (http://code.google.com/p/squeezeslave/) 'donations' (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=LL5P6365KQEXN&lc=CA&item_name=Squeezeslave¤cy_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donate_SM%2egif%3aNonHosted) always appreciated. ralphy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3484 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58740 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
