I had this experience once with PM and occasionally with other
applications. What seems to work for me is to do a Restart (not Logout/
in). This was with an Epson C80 and OS 10.2.3. Let us know what
worked.--Ira

Given that the current PowerMail builds allow the user to not use HTML
viewing, I see no reason for future builds to not continue that tradition.

I dislike most HTML e-mail byself. I do think it would be nice to have
real formatting in messages, but it's almost always abused. It would be
nice if a only certain subset of HTML could be supported (B, I, A, and
maybe a small subset of CSS; no tables, images, objects, or positioning
though) but I imagine that Safari's support for HTML and CSS elements
can't just be "turned off" like that.

Yeah, I agree, I want the default option of having it off too. The
current implementation is so bad though that upgrading to WebKit would be
an improvement from any perspective. Sometimes the less clueful of my
friends send normal messages in HTML, and quote-replying them is a pain.
I'll look forward to being able to drag-select and copy from within the
preview pane.

could you tell us what criteria you use for reliably identifying HTML

Actually, the WebKit SDK is already available through ADC online (I just
downloaded it). So in theory, with some tweaks, PM could begin
supporting sane HTML rendering on 10.2 starting today.

Plus the fact that there are changes to the motherboard all around, too.
Faster DRAM, up to 1GHz front end bus speed for the processor(s), 8x AGP
slot for the video card... Just dropping a G5 upgrade into one of our
current G4 systems would not get the benefit of all the possible speed
increases!

I'm looking forward to saving up money to buy one of these!

Yeah, well, it looks like this IS the real screaming speed increase. I
was emailing a tech-savvy friend of mine (I wouldn't know backside cache

I *do* continuously use large photoshop files -- I can't wait to get one

Just saw the release. Didn't realize it was out. Looks impressive. Still
will wait till the new computer is out in the market 6 months and the bugs

Yes, just to expand upon what Barbara so helpfully pointed out:
I regularly find that when I call up the print dialogue, instead of the
radio button to print "All" pages being active, the one below it is
active instead. This is the one that specifies a range of pages for
printing, and it generally specifies pages 1- -- which causes many
printers to go a bit ga-ga. Clicking the radio button to print "All"
pages instead resolved this particular problem and it doesn't normally
reoccur unless I relaunch powermail for some reason.

However, I've seen this in other apps as well so it is not a PM-specific
issue, but more something connected to the OS's printer calls; although
many apps never exhibit the problem at all, so it may be that PM and a
few other apps are not hooking into the OS entirely correctly (not that I
wish to cast doubt on CTM's code).

Of course, this may not be what Robert was talking about at all, but it's
the only regular printing problem that I've had from PM (and due to it's
not-immediately- noticeable nature, it took me a while to spot the problem).

Hope this helps;
Rick

printing question

2003-06-24 Thread Robert Price

I am new to this list. Have used PowerMail for past 3+ years.
Question: I am unable to print on one of my printers from PowerMail.
Printer works with all other applications (photoshop, word processor,
browsers, etc). Am able to print with another printer from PowerMail. The
details...

Printer with problem - HP 5000 using Airport.
When trying to print the printer reads:
79.00FE
Printer Error

Printer that works is an Epson via wireless.
Mac OX 10.2.6
Powermail 4.1.3 (was having same problem with previous 4.0 versions) Have
not been able to use the HP5000 printer for several + months). Have
replaced application, preferences, printer in Print Center numerous times
trying to isolate problem. No change.

Using a Powerbook Ti 400 which up to several months ago worked with
either printer.

Any ideas or help on is greatly appreciated.
