It seems that one file is missing in the PowerMail user folder. Can you
check that the following files are present, non empty, and with read
permission:
- address database
- Message Database
- Server-side Database
- Setup Database

Re: Filter question

2004-02-26 Thread Rick Lecoat

Craig;

Filter only show up in the list if they have either the incoming or
outgoing check-boxes selected, since whether a filter is greyed out or
not is decided by PowerMail contextually (ie. if the message was sent by
you then filters that only apply to incoming messages will be greyed out,
if you *received* the message then the filters that apply to outgoing
messages only will be greyed).

The way to get around this is two stage:

First you need to create a STOP filter in your filter list. Create a new
filter, call it something like Stop point, set its activation condition
to 'Always, DON'T give it any actions to perform but DO check the Stop
applying filters... box. Put this filter at the end of your filter list;
the result is that any filter check will stop at that point, regardless.
Thus, any filters that you place AFTER the 'Stop Point' filter in the
list can *only* be activated manually.

Next, place your filter dealing with your redirected mail after the 'Stop
Point' filter in the list. Select both Incoming and Outgoing check-boxes
-- since you're triggering this filter manually it doesn't matter.

Now you have a filter that you can activate manually and a place in the
list to place any other filters that you want to be manually activated only.

Hope this helps;
Rick

Hi,
I have created a filter to remove redirected messages from my Sent Messages
folder. I have the Filter incoming messages and Filter outgoing messages
boxes unchecked. When I go to my Sent Messages folder, do a Select All and
try a Mail-Perform Filter pull down, I find my filter is not in the drop
down list.
I don't want this specific filter to be applied automatically - only
manually.

Is there a way I can perform this function?

Database Error

2004-02-26 Thread Victor Orly

Hi Everyone;

I just had to do some data recovery for a client of mine, and now her
mail doesn't open.

I get the following error:

A database error occurred.
Class=DB   what=100  when=3   err=43

I've tried starting PM with apple-option to fix the database but I get
the same error immediately.

Any ideas?

Is there a phone number to call CTM in Switzerland?

Thanks

Victor

Re: Delete Message = Delete Attachments?

2004-02-26 Thread Andy Fragen

Thanks Zach. It's not quite what I'm after but should work most of the
time. Sometimes I need to rename the attachment. I guess I could just
rename the original after making the alias but you are correct -- it's a
kludge.

Thanks.

Hi Andy,
You can use an alias to the file in the attachment folder to do this.
It's a bit of a clunky workaround but it does work. Simply move your
attachment out of the download folder and then move an alias to the
attachment back into the download folder (make sure the alias has the
exact name of the original). Then PM will be able to follow the original
attachment wherever it may travel.

Hope this helps...

This is a Netscape issue. I remember there being a hack to fix/change
this, but I don't remember the details. You may want to instead try using
Firebird (or whatever mozilla.org is calling this browser these days).

It's called Firefox http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

And yes -- both Firefox, Safari 1.2, MS Explorer (don't have Netscape)
works fine when clicking a mailto link over here. PowerMail opens a new
send window each time. (I've done my settings in Mail.app.)

With OSX 10.3 (Panther) you need to go to Preferences in the OSX Mail
application, and set PowerMail as your default mail app. Pretty poor
design, IMHO.

You have two options. First is to launch Mail.app and then set the email
option from there, or use a 3rd party tool like More Internet to change
these settings.

Drafts

2004-02-26 Thread Max Gossell

When saving a message as a draft, it's placed in the Out Tray. I'd like
to have it saved in special Drafts folder instead. But I can't figure out
how to do this automatically. I tried a filter...

Conditions:
  Status is Draft
Actions.
  Move message into folder Drafts

...but it didn't help (no matter if I check both incoming and outgoing
messages). Even if I mark a draft and manually use the command Perform
Filter nothing happens.

I guess a draft is neither an incoming nor an outgoing message, and
that's why the filter doesn't work. But on the other hand -- why do we at
all have the Condition Status is Draft then...?

Thanks for any help.

PowerMail's mail filter implementation is fantastic and very powerful,
applicable to mail both sent and received (user specified of course).
Almost every function of PowerMail is accessible via AppleScript and
scripts can even be called as a result of a filter. Any person who has
specific needs or automation needs should take a serious look at
PowerMail; no 'buts' about it. . . . . . .
