Re: PowerMail crashes with 10.4.1
Bingo!! Thanks Jerome! Yes, I was also having problems with StuffIt crashing everytime I tried to open a .ZIP or .SIT download. I downloaded the latest StuffIt Expander from http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/download3.html deleted previous versions, and now PM is up and running again. Obviously, a notice needs to be posted as others are likely to encounter the same. best, -merrill On 5/29/05, PowerMail Engineering [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Karel Gillissen wrote: Install Stuffit? Yes, it looks like a problem with StuffIt. PowerMail can run without StuffIt, but the Mac OS migration assistant (I don't remember the exact name) leave it partially installed. You can either reinstall it, or de- install it completely. Jérôme - PowerMail Engineering - I've never seen any search engine work this fast on this much info before in my life Scott T. Re: Searching in Replaced Database
time for maintenance: quit PM. launch PM with option-command keys down - reindex database. ---marlyse former message(s) quotes: - I had to erase my main drive due to problems unrelated to PowerMail. Re- installing PowerMail in the new setup I copied over the PM Database from a backup disk. Now, I cannot search this database. Any suggestions? Using 10.4.1 and PM 5.2. Re: PowerMail crashes with 10.4.1
I think there are different things going on here for folks. One person solved the problem by trashing the Custom Dictionary, but that wouldn't work for me, I don't think, because my Custom Dictionary is 0 KB. In any event, I was also having problems with TextEdit (which I discovered because Jerome asked me if spelling was working in TextEdit). Not only did spelling not work with TextEdit, but if I typed a sentence ending with a period, a second period would be added when I added the space. I did an Archive and Install, and found the problems reappeared when I installed Logitech Control Center. (Disclaimer: Jerome says that this is not a problem for him.) I did another Archive and Install, and found the problem also occurred when I installed Default Folder X. So as long as I don't install those two apps, PM is working fine (so far).
