Window Server 8 * also targets VMware and other proprietary offerings from * hardware/software giants like IBM and HP. It will also compete with third * parties that offer cloud computing; because, it offers the cloud within an * enterprise. While it may be true that Orwell's big brother may be in the making, there are other possibilities, surely. I participated in the development and setup of a cloud computing project for NYS OTDA agency, before cloud computing became a fancy term. This project, while it changed the programming language, allowed extraordinary efficiencies. Reporting and billing for services provided by about 30 agencies from Buffalo to Binghamton and NYC used to be made on the basis of 3.5 disks with data generated by over 30 customized stand-alone VFP programs that I had to review and integrate, as well as to crosscheck with their contracts and approve or disapprove their billing requests. The cloud computing mode allowed each of these agencies to do all their reporting and billing, and allowed the review of the reports and their billing requests, totally online. In addition, some of those agencies had subcontractors themselves, therefore the new cloud computing had to accommodate the subcontractor reporting and billing as well. A long story to make a point, sorry about that. Oh, I was not the programmer, nor developer, I just made sure the business rules were implemented properly by getting input from my bureau's contract and administration people. RE: [NF] Word 2007
Hi James. I sent you the converted file. One is the word file saved in Word2003 compatible format, and the second is the same file printed to the Adobe printer, thus converting it to PDF. I could not convert from within the Word Document itself as there appears to be some incompatibility between Acrobat 8 and Office2007 in terms of the PDFMaker files. I hope it is good enough for you. The converted file looks great, actually. Both files are a direct result of conversion, not manipulation or changes after conversion. I say this, because the Word rendering of the document does not look on the screen as good as the converted pdf file version. Best regards. PabloSr -- Value, above all, persons, not things! Peace. RE: Saving and restoring data environments - and variables
I am not one to be able to give you authoritative advise, but look into the .visible property of the form, and the possibility of creating methods on the form which will enable it to be hidden without actually releasing them. Once done, you may also be able to have a method to have the form show itself. I am supposing that your data environments are not built in a way that will make them crash with each other, by using the proper alias when you call them. Good luck with this, and keep me posted, as I am also learning about all this. Others more versed in these matters will chip in, I'm sure. PabloSr -- Value, above all, persons, not things! Peace.
