PT-Accessibility under windows?
Hi to the list, somewhere, some time ago, I heard something about planed accessibility of Pro Tools under windows. Just for my interest, is there something new that can be told publicly via the list? 2 years ago I tested the first just released PT 12under windows 7 with NVDA and I found it the most part inaccessible. inaccessible video-player-controls in pro tools expert homepage.
Hi to the list, perhaps some of you know the pro tools expert homepage: http://pro-tools-expert.com. That’s a large community-website, containing many phantastic and mostly well explained video-tutorials, showing tipps and tricks for the usage of pro tools. There is free and premium content. But unfortunately, the video-player-controls are inaccessible for screenreader-users. I’m a subscriber of this homepage and wrote to them several times. They promised to forward the issue to their provider. Nothing improved yet, and till the end of last year, the video-player-controls were accessible. Obviously they changed something in the layout of their site without keeping accessibility in mind. I think this site is worth taking a detailed look at it, because most of the videos are really good, the workflows are explained very detailed, and I think, we all could benefit from it, in case we could use the player. Maybe they are not aware that there is a big visually-impaired pro tools user-community. ThatÄs why I encourage you, if you find the contents interesting, to write to them and ask for accessible video-player-controls. If many of us do that, perhaps they reimplement accessibility. To get an impression of the videoplayer, here is a link to a very interesting video: https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-page/2018/05/15/tip-using-tab-with-pre-roll-to-audition-edits. You can contact them at the following link: https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/contact-us/ Perhaps I missed something and there is an accessible way, hearing and watching the videos. But I couldN't find it yet. Thanks and best. Michael -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Re: Selection Questions
Hi Rami, first of all, make sure, that „link time and edit-selection“ and „link track and edit-selection“ are enabled. You can find these options in the options-menu. The up and down-keys only work when you select while playing. So, in order to use these shortcuts, you have to press play, followed by the shortcuts you mentioned for selecting your start and endpoint. Re: relinking missing files after opening session.
Hi Slau, your workflow now works perfect for me. The solution to my problem was ridiculously simple: Accidentally, my student sent me a link to the wrong session, that only contained drums and vocals instead of the complete recording. relinking missing files after opening session.
Hi to the list, I got a session to mix it and after opening, there is a window, saying that htere are missing files. After having selected to find them manually, the workspace-browser opens to present the files and there original paths. I can select them with VO-Default-commands without any problems, but I can’t find a button to relink them. I didn’t try drag & drop-actions yet. Is there any comfortable way to do it without having to perform drag & drop? Thanks and best. Re: Question concerning edit-modes
Hi Slau, thanks for that. It worked. But there seems to be a bug tha was fixed in the latest PT 12.5.2. Because one of my students uses 12.4, experiencing the same issue, and your solution doesn’t work for him. But how ever, with 12.5.2 everything seems to be OK. Thanks and best. Question concerning edit-modes
Hi to the list, I’m working in a pro tools-session and would like to use the shuffle-mode. I can’t deactivate the grit-mode. When pressing f4 it toggles between absolute and relative, as expected. But at the same time shuffle-mode is selected as well, and when pressing f1 that should exclusively activate shuffle-mode, one of the grit-modes remains active. I’m a littel confused about this and would be glad about any help. Thanks and best. Accessibility of score-editing-feature?
Hi to the list, is score-editing in Pro Tools accessible? I’m just checking the score-editing possibilities for us and would be interested in any experiences concerning this in Pro Tools. Pro Tools 12 and updates
Hi to the list, I just installed pro tools 12 with sighted assistance to activate the product. Now, the application manager is telling me, there is an update. Some time ago I read in this list, that the application manager is’n’t accessible yet. the Avid website after logging into my account only provides pro tools 12.00. Is it possible to get the update in some way without assistance, or is the application manager the only possibility? Thanks and best. Accessibility of pro tools with windows?
Hi to the list, just for my information. I haven’t heard yet, someone using pro tools with windows and screen sscreenreaders Is there any kind of accessibility? Or isn't it accessible at all? OT logic accessibility group
Hi to the list, first I apologize for this OT-mail, but I couldn’t find any helpful resource in the web: I would like to subscribe to the logic accessibility-googlegroup and I don’t want to create a google-account at the moment. In this list I was subscribed some years ago with my non-google-address, but I don’t remember how that worked. I also can’t find a name or direct e-mail-contact of the owner. So any help would be very appreciated. Best and thanks in advance. Michael -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Pro Tools Accessibility group. moving markers forward or backward
Hi to the list, first a happy, successful new year. I’M currently working in a session and would like to move markers, I created at special positions. I only found options to edit their names, but I’m not able to edit a marker’s position yet. Copying and pasting doesn’t work, because we can’t access the markers ruler in the edit-window. I would be glad about any help with this problem. Thanks in advance and best. Michael -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Pro Tools Accessibility group. Thanks to all helping me so far and pro tools in Yosemite
Hi all, I think I’m quite familiar with pro tools now and since I played around with the playlist functions, I’m quite impressed. So thanks very much to all, helping me so far. What about pro tools in Yosemite? A friend of mine is beginning with pro tools in Yosemite and has major problems. Several dialogue boxes aren’t displayed at all except the window titles. Is there anything being configured concerning voice-over-compatibility in Yosemite? I know it isn’t supported officially yet, but I read about people, using Pro tools in Yosemite, having no problems. another question concerning clip list (re: deleting fades)
Hi again, first of all thank you for your helpful hints concerning my fades-question. Fortunately, I’m a little further with my problem and found out, that I can’t delete a fade in of a clip after having consolidated clips (alt-shift-3). I also found out that the original clip without the fade still remains in the clip list. To recover it I would like to move this clip into the edit-window, but I don’t know, how to do that. I tried to move the mouse to several clips, but my sighted wife told me that it is only possible in pro tools to move the mouse around the clip list, as long as the whole clip list is in the visible area of the screen. My clip list of the session contains many clips, because I did some editing. The VO-Commands for moving the mouse obviously only effect the visible area and I didn’t find a way of scrolling. So how can I navigate the whole clip list and move clips to the edit-window located outside the visible area. I would be glad about any help and sorry for the long explanation. Re: another question concerning clip list (re: deleting fades)
Hi Slau, thank you very much first. In my next session I will try your idea duplicating tracks and working with different playlists. Unfortunately for this session, the problem starts quite at the beginning: Of course I could have asked my wife to do it for me. But I will have a lot of work with pro tools in the future and wanted to find an accessible workaround first. My clip list is very long and contains about 90 or even 100 clips. Interacting with it lets me audition the first clips by moving the mouse and selecting it without problems. But my original clip is anywhere near the end of the clip list in an invisible area of the screen. Moving the mouse to the clip lets VO speak the correct clip name, but when pressing alt left key for auditioning, Pro Tools loses focus and my VO-Cursor is located on the desktop, the menu-bar or anywhere else. Obviously I can’t move the mouse outside the visible area and so auditioning my original clip either. Do you have any idea in this case? Thanks again and best. Re: another question concerning clip list (re: deleting fades)
Hi Chuck, just that’s the problem. Moving the mouse VO-CMD-f5 works at the top and till the middle of the clip list. But at the bottom of the clip list, VO-CMD-f5 doesn’t perform the wanted action and moves the mouse anywhere instead, to the menu-bar or to the desktop. Alt- left click doesn’t play the selected clip, but locates the cursor outside pro Tools. Re: another question concerning clip list (re: deleting fades)
Hi Chuck, I didn’t know this app yet. Thanks for that. I will try this app and see, if it is possible to move the mouse-pointer from outside Pro Tools to the clip list, because the VO-command doesn’t seem to work. Deleting fades.
Hi to the list, I’m working in a session containing several clips. Accidentally I added a fade to start in one of these clips, but didn’t notice this mistake at once. I saved my session, opened it later and noticed this fade in. How can I get rid of it now. I selected the clip pressing ctrl-tab and opened the fade-sub-menu, but the delete-command is unavailable. Any helpful information would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance and best. Michael -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Pro Tools Accessibility group. OT accessible spectral-editing and cd-burning-software.
Hi to the list, sorry for being a bit Of topic. But I’m looking for an accessible spectral-editing and also for an accessible cd-burning-software, to burn redbook-conform audio-CDs on the mac. These mastering features aren’t possible in pro Tools. I looked in the web and read that adobe audition can do these jobs. But as far as I’m informed, it isn’t accessible for us with voice-over. I know, this topic isn’t pro tools-related, but I don’t know an international pro-audio-mailinglist for general questions like this one. So any experiences and help in this case would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance and best. Importing Data from clip list again
Hi to the list, I know, I had problems with this topic about one and a half year ago and got a phantasmic tutorial. But in PT 11.1 with mac OSX Maverix 10.9.1 I’m still unable to import data from the clip list to the session, without creating an additional track. Here my steps: . having activated spot mode, ignoring mouse-pointer in the VO-settings 1. Navigating to the clip list, interacting with it and selecting the right clip. 2. pressing VO-cmd-f5 to move the mouse to the cursor. 3. pressing VO-f5 to verify my selection results in a beep. 4. deactivating cursor-tracking and pressing vo-cmd-shift-space to star the drag - drop procedure. 5. bringing up the item chooser, typing the name for the right track and pressing „enter“. 6. Pressing vo-cmd-f5 and vo-cmd-shift-space for dropping doesn’t bring any result. This method worked in prior versions of PT and Mac OSX. Now I have no idea, how to solve the problem. Any help would be very welcome. Thanks in advance and best. Michael -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Pro Tools Accessibility group. Question concerning audioprocessing
Hello to the list, first of all a happy and blessed new year for all of you. Hopefully it will be a successful year in particular for our efforts concerning accessible Pro Tools. Currently I've got a problem with audioprocesing. I'd like to add a delay to a special part of audio in my session. I tried the following steps: 1. Selected the part of audio, I think 3 bars, with the numpad commands. 2. Opened the Audiosuite-Menue from the edit window to adjust the settings. 3. after adjusting my settings and clicking the process-button I get the error that no audio was selected. I don't understand this message, because I definitely selected audio-material before opening the menu. Running Pro Tools 10.3.2 and OSX Lion 10.7.5. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance and best. Michael
Re: Tempochanges in Pro Tools 10
Hi Slau, thanks for that exact step-by-step-description. I will try that. Thanks and best regards. Michael
Tempochanges in Pro Tools 10
Hi to the list, i'M currently working in a session that was recorded without a click. So the musicians could't be absolutely exact concerning the tempo. Setting the tempo in the event/menues to a constant BPM doesn't work correctly, because the music gets a little faster or slower within the song. Is there an accessible way to make the session tempo and the click track follow the tempo the musicians are playing? Thank you very much in advance and best regards Michael
Re: importing clips without creating a new track
Hi, thanks for this detailed description. Most of what you told me works very fine. But after choosing the track name and releasing the mouse on it, the material is imported at the right position. But unfortunately, there's also created an additional track. That's what I would like to avoid. Best Michael
Re: moving audio within a track
Hi Christopher and Brian, thanks a lot for your help though my question was nearly 3 weaks ago. Now it works. Best Michael
moving audio within a track
Hi to the list, I'm currently working in a 2-track-session containing a music and a speach track. I Now I would like the audio in the speachtrack a little forward. I want it to start at a time of about 6 or 7 seconds instead of the music that has to remain at the beginning of the track. Unfortunately I didn't manage to do this by moving the selection to the left or to the right by the nudge-value. What do I have to do instead? Any help would be very appreciated. Best Michael
