Hi John,

Make sure your track is selected and the option for linking track and edit
selection is checked. Make your selection and either cut or delete. depending
on your edit mode, the results will vary.

2014-01-02 Thread John Gunn
Hello Chuck,

Thank you for the below instructions.

Now In PT11.1 even though shuffle is selected, and if I under edit check undo I
see clear although my selection I wanted to cut is still there.

Under preferences I had to check playback follows scrub or something like that.
Can you or anyone else give me what preferences to check/uncheck?

Take care and thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Editing with a virtual instrument track

2013-12-23 Thread Poppa Bear
Hey Chuck, this is Nate/Poppa, , that is the clerification that I was looking
for. To go one step further, the , Shuffle, slip, or grid should theoreticly
work the same with audio as it does with midi? Also, in Johns case, not being
able to get the midi clip to shuffle/slide over the cleared section it was more
than likely because grid and shuffle were both selected? Is that the likeliest
problem?
Hope I made that clear as mud.

  Hi John,
You can use your f keys 1 2 3 or 4 to select edit modes.

Also when holding down shift and then hitting your f keys you can select both
grid and slip or shuffle.
This is a fast way to combine edit modes! :)
This is what probably happened to you the other day.
If grid gets stuck in a selected state, use your mouse and command click on

  Sklau,

I might have not explained very well. Even though I hit F1 for shuffle
F4 meaining grid mode is also selected even after hitting F1 for shuffle mode.

I only notice this behavior when using virtual instruments. Audio
sessions work as expected.

Re: Editing with a virtual instrument track

2013-12-22 Thread CHUCK REICHEL
Hi guys,
This is not a bug!
I don't have the exact key command but grid is often used in conjunction with
slip or shuffle to save time in editing.
When using tic based tracks like "MIDI" and "instrument" tracks, it keeps
things on the grid so to speak! LOL
I'll look for the Key command when I get some time.
If memory serves me right shift is used when using both of the modes together.

relative grid mode will also stay selected at the same time. In my PT 8 when
I select shuffle, grid mode or any other mode will become unselected.

Sklau,

I might have not explained very well. Even though I hit F1 for shuffle F4
meaining grid mode is also selected even after hitting F1 for shuffle mode.

I only notice this behavior when using virtual instruments. Audio sessions
work as expected.

I also noticed in the edit cluster grid is also selected. If I VO-shit-m

session I don't have the above behavior.

I suspect because virtual instruments are MIDI but if any one has a
suggestion I'd appreciate it.

Re: Editing with a virtual instrument track

2013-12-22 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi John,

Well, I'm pretty sure that, at the very least, the Edit window should probably
be open but, beyond that, it should work fine.

I'm not sure if there's a conflict with other keystrokes that would affect the
tool selector. I think that, with any tool selected, the normal keyboard
commands will work since you're not using physical mouse clicks. Those keyboard
shortcuts are global. You might want to look at the Pro Tools Shortcuts pdf to
check the shortcuts for tool selection. I don't remember what they are since
it's never been an issue.

HTH,

Slau

Slau, do you need to be in any particular window for these commands to work.
Also, I noticed that I have been accidently changing my "selecter tool" to
"trim to end of incertian", is that because I am perhaps hitting a toggle
command on accident that I am not aware of?

Thanks
