Re: [Qgis-user] Issue using Symbology Style

2021-09-01 Per discussione Burghardt.Scholle
Hello Nuno,

I also often use the map units to get a scaled representation. To prevent the
effects you describe, I always use the "Adjust Scaling Range" option (see
wrench button on the right side of the selection dialog). There you can enter
for example a minimum / maximum scale. The change of the feature size in the
map then moves only within the specified scale range. If necessary, you have to
try a little bit to get the appropriate values.

Hope this helps

Burghardt

Hello Nuno,

When you use map units, it means that the symbols size will change with the
scale. At some bigger map scales, they can be ao small that disappear, in other
lower scales it can be too big to fit inside a small polygon.

Unless you have a particular reason to use map units, you are better with
millimetres. A symbol with 2 mm will keep that size at all scales.

used, the letters are either visible or invisible. This does not happen on all

Can anyone give suggestions on the cause of this problem, and how to solve it?

Very grateful in advance!

Hi there,

I tried to use in QGIS 3.16 on Windows10 a old layer-action from QGIS 2.18.
If I cklick on one object the action should start an BATCH-file and gives some
attributes as parameter to the batch-file. But it doesn't work, nothing happens.
In QGIS2.18 it works fine.

If I use "Open" as type and only the BATCH-File without parameter than the
BATCH opens. If I add an parameter than nothing happens.

For example this work:
"d:\Test_Batch_Aufruf.bat"
but this doesn't work:
"d:\Test_Batch_Aufruf.bat" "Hello"

If I use a exe-file it works with a parameter.
For example this work fine:
"c:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view64.exe" "D:\50342_col.tif"

Any idea why the BATCH-file doesn't start with parameter?

greetings

I think this depends on the Ubuntu version you run... But 3.10 is the OLD LTR
isn't it?

Should you not install 3.16 now (or ask if 3.16 (or an older version) is also
ok)?

Looking at Focal:
https://qgis.org/ubuntu/dists/focal/main/binary-amd64/Packages packages are all
upgraded to 3.12 or higher..?

What does the Ubuntu repo itself serv?

Or else: compile local?

Hi Thomas,

I also get this message frequently in connection with a missing opencl.dll.
Please check if this file is located in the directory "C:\windows\system32".
Important: it must be 121 KB in size.
If this file is missing, you will get the mentioned error message. Maybe you
can copy the file from a running QGIS on another system.
For this please use the directory "%OSGEO4W_ROOT%\bin".

Hope this helps.

clCreateCommandQueueWithProperties points to opencl.

Try to reinstall the opencl package.

Hi,

It's a known issue, the root cause is that the relations/joins are stored by
QGIS using the layer ID (which is unique) so the relations are lost in case of
layer copy or save/load from a style file, the good new is that I've got a
customer that has committed some budget to fix this problem and I'll start to
work on that soon.

The solution would imply storing some more information about the layers that
compose a relation so that we can at try to reconstruct the relation by
searching for "similar" layers in the existing project before giving up with a
broken relation/join.

The same issue applies to the value-relation widget.

Hello,
I'm using Qgis 3.4.4 Madeira on Ubuntu 16.04 and it seems that the attributes
of Postgis layers are not editable if the corresponding field has a default
value at the database level.
I observed this issue with fields of type boolean and hstore.
For example, if the field "active" of the table "test" has a default value:

Table "test"
Column | Type | Modifiers
+-+--
 id| integer |
 name | hstore |
active | boolean | default true

than the field "active" is not editable in the attribute table in Qgis.

Could you please help me?

Hi,

you can rename a table (layer) in a GeoPackage using the DB Manager.

Hope, this helps.

Hy there

Maybe I don't get the simple way: How can I rename a layer of a geopackage in
QGIS 3.4.1? I'm speaking of the layer of the database (.gpkg), not the name of
the layer-reference in the layer panel in QGIS. I can create a new layer in the
Browser and I can delete it. How to rename it?
Thanks

Hi Klaus,
as far as I understand it, geopackage does not support spatial functions -
opposite to spatialite (see [1]). I mean, this topic was also discussed at the

Re: [Qgis-user] filter on joined table broken?

2018-08-16 Per discussione Burghardt.Scholle
Hi Tobias,

I don't think you make something wrong. I can confirm your problem also with
QGIS 2.18.x.

If your data is in postgres, there is a workaround: create a view in postgres
that includes both the table and the joins. Load this view into QGIS and you
can set any filters again.

[Qgis-user] Problems with MS SQL Server 2010 and QGIS 2.18.x / 3.2.x

2018-08-14 Per discussione Burghardt.Scholle
Hi list,

I have big problems loading MS SQL Server 2010 data with QGIS 2.18 and QGIS
3.2.x. Up to version 2.14 there were no problems. With 2.18 QGIS crashes after
a few steps (zooming, moving, identifying etc.) with a minidump. Here I could
reduce the behavior a bit, after disabling the option "Draw layers with many
CPU cores in parallel". Nevertheless, access does not function completely
smoothly. Especially during intensive, longer work with the data, there are
repeated crashes.

Under QGIS 3.2.1, productive work is not possible at all. The MS SQL data can
be added to the project, but QGIS crashes after just one or two steps:

Dear QGIS-User,

in our office the last days a question came up: How can I configure the QGIS
customizationfile path on Windows in order to get a directory with an
*.ini-file for customization specifications such as I get on Linux like
/home/user/.config/QGIS/QGIS2.conf? We want to prepare a few of *.ini-files and

Do you have any suggestions?

Hi John,

I believe there is no current complete dmg-file for QGIS3-dev. But you can use
the excellent site under [1] to install QGIS3-dev using Homebrew.
Unfortunately, there are problems with the matplotlib dependency at the moment

Does anyone know how to make comments permanent in the fields of the attribute

When I open the properties of the layer and go to the "fields" tab, I can't

comments with quotes, but nothing.

Maybe I'm using this feature the wrong way. Any suggestions?

Hi Richard,

basically I think an 'Overview Panel' is very useful, if you zoom in the map
greatly. However, for a better use I wished more configuration options:
- define background Map which will be drawn with full extent for better
orientation
- minimize or maximize the red rectangle to change map scale

In its present form the 'Overview Panel' is limited in use.

Re: [Qgis-user] Can not install qgis-mapserver on CentOS 7

2017-04-13 Per discussione Burghardt.Scholle
Hi Julian,
in the past few weeks I have also experimented with CentOS 7 and QGIS /QGIS
server. My experience has shown that manual compilation of the required
software components / libraries under CentOS was necessary to get an efficient
and productive work environment. I have proceeded as follows:

· Compile Proj4

· Compile GDAL

· Compile GEOS

· Compile PostGIS (if needed, you can take PostgreSQL from the
repository http://yum.postgresql.org/repopackages.php)

· Compile GRASS (if needed)

· Compile QGIS Desktop / Server

After that you have a current running QGIS environment and can determine many
settings by yourself.

By the way: the Docker proposal from Steve sounds very interesting.

Hope this helps

Hello everybody,
I’m trying to setup a QGis server on a CentOS (7.3.1611) server, following the
official guide:
http://hub.qgis.org/projects/quantum-gis/wiki/QGIS_Server_Tutorial

I followed the instructions and added EPEL:
yum install epel-release

Then I added ELGIS:
rpm -Uvh http://elgis.argeo.org/repos/6/elgis-release-6-6_0.noarch.rpm

And finally tried to install qgis-mapserver:
yum install qgis-mapserver

But this last command did not work, because some dependencies were not met:

Error: Package: qgis-1.8.0-9_0.el6.x86_64 (elgis)
   Requires: libqwt.so.5()(64bit)
Error: Package: qgis-1.8.0-9_0.el6.x86_64 (elgis)

Hi,

you’re right. There’re for example a
"%OSGEO4W_ROOT%\bin\vcredist-2013-x64.exe". But after a normal QGIS install,
this packages will be deleted (see
"%OSGEO4W_ROOT%\etc\postinstall\msvcrt-2013.bat.done") and are no longer
available. The msvc dll's alone do not help. They need to be registered.

I've also eard of some packaging msvc dll's inside qgis package, but I haven't

Hi Bo,

first - thank you for pointing us to your great instructions. I have another

Hi Bo,

first - thank you for pointing us to your great instructions. I have another
question about this. I often have the problem, that on a fresh Windows
installation the Microsoft C++ Redistributable environment lacks. Does your
setup routine consider this? And will the environment be possibly automatically
post-installed?

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS server: configuration of grid shift files for datum conversions

2016-10-24 Per discussione Burghardt.Scholle
Hi Andreas,

some time ago I had a similar problem in the UMN Mapserver. There I could solve
it, in which I have supplemented the corresponding epsg entries by a further
parameter: “+nadgrids=/usr/local/share/proj/”. This
caused the data to be transformed “on the fly”. Hope this helps.

Betreff: [Qgis-user] QGIS server: configuration of grid shift files for datum
conversions

Hi,

I have to configure QGIS server to properly handle grid shift files. In
Switzerland we need to offer "old" and "new" coordinates (different datums) at
the same time with our services and the conversion needs to be done with grid
shift files or tin based interpolation.

I know that I have to copy the CHENYX06a.gsb file to my proj lib, e.g.
/usr/local/shar/proj - but how can I make QGIS Server to actually use this
file? I assume that I need to copy an additional config file or SRS/grid shift
file combinations to QGIS server and/or specify an environment variable - right?

Are there any resources explaining how I can configure QGIS server to make use
of these grid shift files?

Thank you for any pointers!

Andreas

insert the path, in which your symbol is located.
Hope this helps.

Hi Tyler,
both ☺ (i.e. http://ows.terrestris.de/osm/service? – thanks to terrestris GmbH

However, I must admit if encrypted services are used, I have SSL-Problems

following error message: “WMS: Download of capabilities failed: SSL handshake
failed”. But I'm still near the beginning of my tests.

What WMS services are you using, open data types served by OpenStreetMap and

Re: [Qgis-user] Saving/Loading styles in Postgis

2016-07-28 Per discussione Burghardt.Scholle
Hi Andreas,

To save the layer styles in a PG table is a cool feature ☺. I have no problems
to save the table with a connection based on host/database.

A hint from me: QGIS stores the style-information with the data type “xml”. For
me this made problems when exporting / importing this data. By default, the
XMLPARSER from postgresql works with the "CONTENT" option. When importing a
dump file from the “layer styles”-table you get an error message: “ERROR:
invalid XML content”. To prevent this, you need to edit the dump file. Before
the insert / copy command to insert the layer styles records you must add the
statement “SET xmloption TO DOCUMENT;”.

Strange. I can see the empty layer_styles table in my public schema. But saving
fails. Maybe it fails because my PG connection is based on a service definition
and not on host/database?

Hi,
Andreas, Styles are indeed saved in the public schema, in a table named

Just made a test and rename my current "layer_styles" table. Then I
successfully save a new layer style in PG from QGIS 2.16: a new table
"layer_styles" has automatically been created in the public schema.

Hi,

I have never used the Saving/Loading of styles in Postgis (see
http://docs.qgis.org/2.14/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/vector_properties.html#storing-style-in-a-file-or-a-database)

Do I have to create a special styling table for it to enable this?

Because when I try to save it (QGIS 2.16) I get an error message along the
lines that my user may not have permissions to save the style. However, I am
trying to save the style with a user that has full administrator rights in
Postgis.

In what schema and table are the styles stored? I assume in the public schema.
Will QGIS automatically create a styling table or do I have to create one
myself?

Thank you for any hints!

Try something along the lines of
Case when length ("name") < 15 then "name" else wordwrap ("name",15) end

I havent got my computer with me, but might be a work around.

[Qgis-user] Label Formatting - Wrap on character with "wordwrap"

2016-05-18 Per discussione Burghardt.Scholle
Hi all,

my System: Ubuntu 14.04, QGIS 2.8.7 / 2.14.2

I want label a layer with long attribute values. The label should wrap after a
number of characters. For this I use the function "wordwarp" in the expression
string builder (e.g. "wordwrap("name", 15)"). In the output preview the
wordwrap is displayed correctly. But in the map all the words with less than
(e.g.) 15 characters will be hidden and the wordwrap will not be displayed.
Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone give me a hint?

Best regards
Burghardt

Hi ,

I don't display the legend of the WMS. A merge of different legends between WMS
and other layer's does not take place in my case.

[Qgis-user] QGIS Server - Export to PDF - Legend

2016-05-03 Per discussione Burghardt.Scholle
Hi all,

my System: Ubuntu 14.04, qgis-server 2.14.1 / 2.14.2

My QGIS project contains a wms layer from UMN mapserver and different
shapefiles (Polygon, Line, Point). My print template contains the map and a
legend for the shapefiles. If I turn on the wms layer, the export to PDF does
not work. I get an Apache 500-error. If I turn off the wms layer, the export to
PDF works fine.
Well, if I now turn on the wms layer and remove the legend only for the
shapefiles with line- and point-geometry from the print template, the export to
PDF works fine also. The legend of shapefiles with polygons is always exported
to PDF. Is this a bug? Can anyone help me?

BTW: I tried different wms layer and had always the same problem.

Thanks in advance and best regards
Burghardt

[Qgis-user] QGIS Server - Export to PDF graphics

2016-04-29 Per discussione Burghardt.Scholle
Hi all,

my System: Ubuntu 14.04, qgis-server 2.14.1

I've created a print template in my QGIS-Project. The legend contains several
image files (logos etc.). An export to PDF from the Composer is working
properly. But if I use the print function in QGIS Server using the QGIS
WebClient or the OL3 Mobile Viewer, the image files are only sometimes exported
to PDF. The other contents of the map / legend are shown reliably. I have
already tried several graphic formats (png, jpg etc.). Am I doing something
wrong? Perhaps someone can give me a hint. Thanks in advance

Hi,

There will be a start-workshop next week (Monday). It has been decided to
develop QWCII from scratch and use ReactJS and OL3. It will be a while until it
reaches feature parity with QWCI and the OL3-mobile viewer.

So - until then there will still be some development on QWC I - but most likely
no big things.

Greetings,

Andreas

Hi,

AFAIK there are plans for a QWC II, but it is unclear when it will be
"released" as official successor. And I don't know either, if any concrete
development has already started or if there is a roadmap available. Currently
it seems to be a lot of testing and playing around with several solutions
and looking for funding - is that correct?

So to me QWC I is still alive and people develope on it.

Hi Bob,

It is much easier - you don't have to fuss around with zero size or
transparency.

Just uncheck the "Symbol" checkbox and your symbol will disappear. See attached
screenshot.

Hi,

It may be that this checkbox is only available at certain renderers - I think i
tested with the rule-based renderer.

I think it is around since a couple of versions. On Windows, the symbol is more
on the left side - not centered in the symbol dialog.

Hi Andreas,

hm, in which QGIS-Version you have made this screenshot :-)? I work with QGIS
2.12.1, where it can't find that option button.

Hi Bob,

It is much easier - you don't have to fuss around with zero size or
transparency.

Just uncheck the "Symbol" checkbox and your symbol will disappear. See attached
screenshot.

I tried to set QGIS_AUTH_DB_DIR_PATH and the error message in the Apache log
disappeared. I still got the "WMS configuration error" message though. It
turned out to be the map parameter. In 2.8 you did not have to give the map
parameter when there were only one .qgs-file was present. In 2.12 it is
obviously mandatory. Thanks for your input!

Hi Henrik,

This is due to the new authentication system in 2.12 [0], and the support I
added to Server. When running Server, projects loaded that contain an
authentication configuration (instead of clear text username/password) for
accessing a secured resource, e.g. WMS using Basic Auth and HTTPS, need to be
able to access the new 'qgis-auth.db'.

The auth configurations are encrypted using a master password and stored in the
qgis-auth.db, which by default is located at ~/.qgis2/qgis-auth.db for a
desktop QGIS user. To enable Server support, I added two environment variables
to overcome the problems associated with automatically loading projects [1],
which are not yet fully documented:

* QGIS_AUTH_DB_DIR_PATH - Directory where an existing qgis-auth.db is located
or created if not present. This directory needs to be *writeable* by Server's
FCGI process user (which may differ from Apache's).

* QGIS_AUTH_PASSWORD_FILE - File path to file with master password as first
line. This is similar to password files used by database servers. The env
variable is read during QGIS startup, then removed from the env variables
space, so it is not available later on to the FCGI process or any Server
plugins. Since all auth configurations are encrypted, a master password is
required to access the qgis-auth.db, if a loaded project uses auth configs
stored in the qgis-auth.db.

What you have found is possibly a bug: the QGIS_AUTH_DB_DIR_PATH is now
required to start Server, even if no loaded project make use of the new auth
system. This is not really a bug if one considers the auth system setup
mandatory from 2.12+, like it is on Desktop. At the minimum, a
missing/non-writeable qgis-auth.db directory should throw a warning and not an
error, allowing Server to launch.

Please try setting QGIS_AUTH_DB_DIR_PATH to a directory writeable by the
Server's FCGI process user and see if Server starts normally. Then check that
qgis-auth.db is created in the directory.

Here is how to set the env variables for the FCGI process in Apache [2,3].
Note, setting them at the Apache process level will not work.

Dear list,

I have a problem with opening a ESRI Personal Geodatabase with Annotation
Layers in QGIS 2.8.1. I have tried to open it as vector layer:

* as "Datei/file" using "MDB" and also
*  as "Datenbank/database" using type "ESRI-Personal-GeoDatabase",
Might I have chosen an incorrect database connection? How do I fill the entry
mask properly to make it work?

I got the following error messages:
* first message: "ungültige Datenquelle/invalid data source"
* second message: "Verbindung fehlgeschlagen/connection failed".

Is there even the possibility to open a ESRI Personal Geodatabase in QGIS?

Many thanks

[Qgis-user] Mobile Client - symbol color changes

Dear list,

when I use the mobile client with colored svg-symbols and arial images at the

Hi Jürgen,

yes - perhaps, your guess may be true, but under qgis server 2.8.1 I had no
problems. Only since the version 2.8.2 I have these problems with the QMC -
mainly with grouped layers. The QWC makes no problems.

Re: [Qgis-user] Drawing order in mobile client

Hi Andreas,

yes, of course I looked immediately at the json files. The grouped layer in my
QGIS project I respond in QMC as one layer. Up to version 2.8.1 those grouped
layers were presented in QMC in the correct drawing order. Now I have to
completely turn around the QGIS project. This looks not very nice in QGIS
desktop :-). Of course I could also disperse the grouped layers in the json
file. However, this makes a lot of work and creates unnecessary maintenance -
imho. BTW - I create the json files manually.

No, the network request I havn't checked not yet. I'll fetch it later.

[Qgis-user] qgis-server vs layer id

2015-04-09 Per discussione Burghardt.Scholle
Dear list,

I enjoy working with templates for QGIS projects. This brings when working with
QGIS Desktop many advantages, but leads to problems with the QGIS Web Client.
When I save a project file under a different name, the id of the layer,
unfortunately, is maintained. If I use both project files in the qgis-server,
this creates problems with caching of layer. That is particularly evident when
identical layer named differently or otherwise be symbolized.
This topic is discussed on several occasions in the past [1,2] and has been
referred to as bug or limitation. In [2] it's said that the combination of
project name and layer ID could be a solution for the problem. Up to and
including version 2.8.1, the change has not yet been carried out. Is there an
effort to change the creation of the layer ID in a future release?

Kind regards
Burghardt
