Re: [Qgis-user] Qgis/Postgis : impossible to open a project

2013-07-09 Thread Tudor Barascu
Hi,
If your machine on the network has two IP's.
One is the localhost IP (127.0.0.1) which is only accessible locally.
The other is the IP that you have on the LAN.
As when you added the vector layers you referred to the localhost,
and not the IP from the LAN, it is logical that when you try to start the
qgis project on other machines, QGIS tries to connect to the local machine
(the machine on which the qgis project resides).
You can make the qgis project again and reference the LAN IP instead the
localhost
or you can just open the .qgs project in a text editor and replace "localhost"
with the
IP of the machine where Postgis resides, e.g. (192.168.100.20).
Best of luck,
Tudor

Subject: [Qgis-user] Qgis/Postgis : impossible to open a project

Hello,

My windows 7 station hosts a postresql/postgis server (9.1). On this station
i succeed in saving a qgis (1.8) project with several postgis layers
(vector).

I save this qgis project on our network. So i thought to be abble to open
this project from anyelse station. But when i try to do that, i receive a
message error when i try to open the project from other stations. Please to
find below attached represneting the error message.

Could you throw light for me please? Thanks.

Re: [Qgis-user] hydro-flatenning process ?

2013-07-09 Thread Jake Maier
John,

Would TauDEM be helpful to show consequences of a dam removal project at the
coast (of Maine), where the dam removal would create reversing falls and
had consequences upstream for bridge foundations and wetlands (now
freshwater then brackish to some degree)?

What kind of input variable would I need and what kind of output information
would I gain?

Thanks for any pointers

Jake

Probably the region outline from GRASS. On the GRASS toolbar there's a

Hi Marcel,

the way to call your QGIS server is something like:
http://localhost/qgis-mapserv/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?map=/yourmap.qgs?REQUEST=GetCapabilities&SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.3
<http://localhost/qgis-mapserv/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?map=%3Cpath_to_your_map%3E/yourmap.qgs?REQUEST=GetCapabilities&SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.3>
to get the server's capabilites
be sure to know the possible requests a WMS server can reply to, see
e.g. [1]

The client accesses the server and not vice versa.

Ok, I think I understand the philosophy.

Steps to do:
1) Install QGIS server (done)
2) Feed QGIS server with a qgis project (*.qgs file)

I saved a QGIS test project with wms capabilites under
/Users/Marcello/Downloads/test/alaska.qgs

The reply of
http://localhost/qgis-mapserv/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?map=/Users/Marcello/Downloads/test/alaska.qgs&SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetCapabilities
<http://localhost/qgis-mapserv/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?map=/Users/Marcello/Downloads/test/alaska.qgs&SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetCapabilities>
in Safari is:
Configuration file problem : perhaps you left off the .qgs extension?

Does the project path need special permissions?

3) access QGIS server from a WMS client (e.g. QGIS desktop) to verify
it is running and delivers maps.

Isn't it easier to test this with Safari? In QGIS I tried to load the
alaska layer through "add wms-layer". But i couldn't connect to my
localhost. I don't know what url exactly is needed. I tried with
http://localhost/Users/Marcello/Downloads/test/alaska.qgs but its not
working. The message was:
Antwort nicht verstanden. Der wms-Provider sagte:
Eigenschaften-Abfrage gescheitert: Error downloading
http://localhost/Users/Marcello/Downloads/test/alaska.qgs?SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetCapabilities
<http://localhost/Users/Marcello/Downloads/test/alaska.qgs?SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetCapabilities>
- server replied: Not Found

4) install and configure QWC, see [2]

Where are this kind of projects normally saved in OSX? I think the QWC
files needs to be saved in the project file (in my case under
/Users/Marcello/Downloads/test)?

http://localhost/qgis-mapserv/qgis_mapserv.fcgi? I get the following

Now I try to configure and publish a simple QGIS project. But I don't
know where to put the files. I also don't understand how the QGIS Server
finds the path to the Web Client, because at the moment I have the
qgis-web-client folder in /Users/Marcello/Downloads.

Hi Marcel,

I am sorry, I do not really understand your question, so I explain
some things, maybe you can reformulate your question and people with
Mac OSX knowledge can help you then.
qgis-web-client (QWC) is a JavaScript program to be run in a browser.
To deliver QWC to the browser of your clients you need a web server
(e.g. Apache). You can put QWC whereeever your web server can access
it. QWC needs QGIS Server (a WMS server), normally you would run QGIS
server on the same machine.

Hi Jake,

I had a plugin in preparation that amongst others does exactly what you
want: within an editing session cut out from polygons in editable theme with
selected polygons from another theme.
The plugin is called DigitizingTools and is planned to contain more tools in
the future. I uploaded it to the plugin repository just now, feel free to
give it a try and report any problems.
It is marked as experimental (because it is not well tested right now) and
only works with current master (aka QGIS 2).

Dear Jake,

you can use the topological editing. In Settings/Snap options dialog
enable topological editing, check Avoid Intersections for the editing
layer and optionally set a tolerance for snapping.

After it you have to draw only the missing part of the a new polygons.

Re: [Qgis-user] Qgis/Postgis : impossible to open a project

2013-07-09 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi,

You seem to use "localhost" as a servername. If you use a different
machine, localhost means something else.

You should either use a central PostgreSQL database in your network and
address it by its name, or you must have the exact same PostgreSQL setup
on the other machine.

Alternatively you may use a PostgreSQL service name, where the service
definition is defined on each machine and can point to different servers.

Re: [Qgis-user] cut several segments into a polygon

2013-07-09 Thread Bernhard Ströbl

Hi Jake,

I had a plugin in preparation that amongst others does exactly what you
want: within an editing session cut out from polygons in editable theme
with selected polygons from another theme.
The plugin is called DigitizingTools and is planned to contain more
tools in the future. I uploaded it to the plugin repository just now,
feel free to give it a try and report any problems.
It is marked as experimental (because it is not well tested right now)
and only works with current master (aka QGIS 2).

1. Select all of your clearcuts in the stand.
2. IN the QGIS menu go to Vector -> geoprocessing -> difference
3. Both the input and the difference layer will be the name of your
shapefile with the stand in it.
4. Uncheck "Use only selected features" under Input Vector Layer
5. Make sure "Use only selected features" is checked under difference layer
6. Create an output shapefile and run.

You should have a new stand with multiple "holes" cut into it so you get
the right acreage.

Re: [Qgis-user] where to install qgis-web-client on Mac OSX 10.8.4

2013-07-09 Thread Bernhard Ströbl

Hi Marcel,

the way to call your QGIS server is something like:
http://localhost/qgis-mapserv/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?map=/yourmap.qgs?REQUEST=GetCapabilities&SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.3
to get the server's capabilites
be sure to know the possible requests a WMS server can reply to, see
e.g. [1]

The client accesses the server and not vice versa.

Steps to do:
1) Install QGIS server (done)
2) Feed QGIS server with a qgis project (*.qgs file)
3) access QGIS server from a WMS client (e.g. QGIS desktop) to verify it
is running and delivers maps.

4) install and configure QWC, see [2]

[Qgis-user] Centos Raster Anomalies

2013-07-09 Thread Hillers Heather

Hello,

I have built qgis 1.8 final release from source on Centos6. When I run make
check, I get failures in qgis_rasterlayertest and qgis_rendererstest. These
failures are the result of raster anomalies that do not match the expected
raster anomalies stored in testdata. Attached are the raster anomalies, which
in many cases are similar too (but a bit worse than) the expected windows
anomalies. The anomalies are as follows:

Landsat_875_result_diff.png
Landsat_basic_result_diff.png
Raster_pseudo_result_diff.png

I added these raster anomalies to tests/testdata/control_images/[test case],
and that did eliminate the unittest failures as a result of anomalies not
matching any expected anomalies. However, my unittests still fail after the
anomaly match as a result of bandStatistics

).mean == 4.5' returned FALSE. ()
   Loc:
[/pse/edv/hil/src/qgis/18release/qgis-1.8.0/tests/src/core/testqgsrasterlayer.cpp(177)]

When I ran qgis_rasterlayertest through gdb, this mean value was found to be 4.

Qgis is linking yum installed libpng 1.2.49.

1. Are the anomalies a feature of the system, and just need to be added
to testdata, or are they manifestations of a bug?

2. What can I do about the bandStatistics error? Is this going to cause
bad behavior in qgis, or is only going to effect image quality?

3. Might this be coming from a library dependency?

Thanks,

MonsterMushroom
