Ciao Salvatore,

https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Enhancement-Proposals/issues/115
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/pull/6635
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/pull/33843
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/pull/33870

Spero siano utili.

A presto.

Andrea

Re: [Qgis-user] qgis server osgeo4w64 noobs question qgis server

2021-03-12 Thread Marc Millas
Hi Jorge,

I did try to describe what I did as much precisely as I can.
w10 machine with a qgis desktop 3.16.4 which run fine.
a postgres12/postgis3.1 DB
No pb to display a map (like osm standard) and to add layers out of the
postgres DB within the qgis desktop.

What I try to POC is qgis server. So, I install osgeo4W64 with all options,
and try to follow the doc:
setup the http.conf of an apache2.4
and then run requests from a chrome or mozilla browser.
you ask "is qgis server running ?"
I reread the doc and found nowhere this.
Also, in the osgeo4W64/bin directory nothing like a qgisserver.exe (or
similar)file
neither in the osgeo4W64/app/qgis/bin directory

So, please, can you explain what you mean ?

thanks

Re: [Qgis-user] qgis server osgeo4w64 noobs question qgis server

2021-03-12 Thread Jorge Gustavo Rocha
Hi Marc,

Can you ask a more specific question? I'm sorry, but for someone like me
that knows nothing about you attempts, it is difficult to help.

Is QGIS Server running or not? If not, what is the problem?

QGIS Server reads *.qgz project files. That's for sure and you will not
find nothing that says it can't. QGIS Server reads the same project
formats as QGIS Desktop.

How are you testing it? Are you writing manually the calls to the
services or are you using some client (like QGIS Desktop)? You can debug
QGIS Server using QGIS Desktop as client.

Jorge Gustavo

No, è concettualmente errato.

For me the QGIS Documentation assumes a more current knowledge of the

Something along the lines of the Washington state (US) "Map Your
Neighborhood" project. The ability to easily load personal data is
important.

For me the QGIS Documentation assumes a more current knowledge of the
technology and terminology than I have.

I've looked at the QGIS book selections but not quite sure which would
the best for my needs.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

TIA,
Rod

Re: [QGIS-it-user] Mappa valori "dinamica"

2021-03-12 Thread virtusmankind
come desideravo.

Grazie ancora

Martin,
The link that Alessandro provided was indeed the ability to revert back to
the previous discrete method. https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/pull/42193
As the pull request has a Backport 3.18 flag on it I assume that that means
that for the 3.18.1 release next week there should be the ability to turn
off continuous raster legend!

Dear QGIS Team,
I would like to create a circle whose diameter is 75 metres. I am using QGIS
version 3.16.3-Hannover.
My procedure so far has been like this:1. create a new shapefile layer ->
geometry type: polygon2. in edit mode of this layer: add circle with centre and
another point--> How can I change the radius/diameter of the circle afterwards
or is there another possibility to create a circle with diameter directly?

Re: [Qgis-user] Combing Vector Layers - With Attributes

2021-03-12 Thread Kirk Schmidt

Hi Springer

You could try joining the databases using a common field assuming the
second one does not have new point features.  However, I expect you are
adding new point features.

In that case, I usually write a little python script to generate a new
set of features in the update layer that matches those of the master
layer.  I then recalculate the values of the new features before
dropping the initial set of fields. You can use Graphical Modeler to
generate a model and access through the Processing Toolbox> Models Group.

If you send me to sample shapefiles, I can put it together if you are
not familiar with the Graphical Modeler.

Copying and pasting records from the new file into the master list
does work but if the fields are not identical, no attributes are
brought into the master file.

Is there a way to import the new records into their corresponding
fields in the master file?

I've searched for help on this to no avail.  Manifold GIS handles this
very well, setting up a field matching dialogue but I would prefer to
keep the process within QGIS.

Thanks very much for any ideas . . . .

Re: [Qgis-user] Create circle with diameter in QGIS

2021-03-12 Thread C Hamilton
Dear Madeline,

If you want to start with a point layer representing the center of the
circle, then you can use the Shape Tools plugin to create either a geodesic
ellipse or donut about the point. If you use the donut, just set the inner
radius to 0 and the outer radius to 37.5 meters. You can also pull the
radius you want to use from the attribute table. In QGIS there are multiple
ways to accomplish what you want to do so just pick what works easiest for
you.

[QGIS-it-user] Ritagliare raster ai Nodata

Buongiorno,

nodata?
So farlo facilmente in GRASS GIS (g.region zoom=) ma in QGIS non saprei.

Re: [Qgis-user] Create circle with diameter in QGIS

2021-03-12 Thread Christine
Dear Madeline,
you may start with a point layer : the point(s) as the mid point(s) of your
circle(s).
Then you can draw a buffer of a certain distance with the buffer tool
(geoprocessing tools) around your point(s). In case of a buffer for points
the distance is the same as the radius of the circle you are searching for.

Attention: the segments parameter controls the number of line segments to
use in oder to approximate a circle when creating rounded offsets. More
segments mean a closer approximation. Be aware that a shapefile cannot save
a true circle by nature but only an approximation to a circle with straight
segments.

With the multi-ring buffer tool you might create more than one buffer at a
time around your point(s), so you could get as many rings (circles) around
your point(s) as you like. Certainly you have to determine the distance
between the circles you want to get. The output of the buffer tools have
automatically a polygon geometry.

Regards, Christine

Re: [Qgis-user] Create circle with diameter in QGIS

2021-03-12 Thread Andreas Neumann
Ah - and don't forget that you need to finish the circle with the
right-mouse button!

So the steps are (more or less):

- enable editing

- enable advanced digitizing tools (the button with square and ruler)

- enable the circle tool (e.g. "Add Circle by a Center Point and Another
Point" tool)

- click in the canvas to set the circle center

- press "d" for distance and enter your radius (e.g. 5)

- press right mouse button to finish the circle

Hope this helps,

Andreas

The shortcut "d" (distance) is your friend. When this mode is activated
you can enter distances (like your radius) with the keyboard and QGIS

You need to invest a bit of time to understand all the construction

Hi Alyza,
I wonder how you managed to download a 3.18.0 installer from from
https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html and exactly what
installer you have downloaded.

In fact, currently the download of the QGIS 3.18.0 standalone installers for
Windows (and macOS) is disabled from the normal download page
https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html and they are only
available for testing purpose through the https://qgis.org/downloads/ page
with the advise that is better to wait for a QGIS 3.18.1 release (that will
be released the next week).

It is not even possible to install QGIS 3.18.0 using the regular OSGeo4W
Network Installer at the moment.

Anyway, the Windows installers are digitally signed with the "The Open
Source Geospatial Foundation" certificate issued by DigiCert SHA2 Assured ID
Code Signing CA and they also came with a sha256 hash so you can check for
tampering or download errors.

If you check the installers available on https://qgis.org/downloads/ using
the VirusTotal web services www.virustotal.com, you'll find that no
antivirus software on that platform is detecting
QGIS-OSGeo4W-3.18.0-1-Setup-x86_64.exe as a virus or containing any PUAs.

If you double check that you downloaded the installer from
https://www.qgis.org/ and that it is digitally signed with corresponding
hash but your antivirus detects it as NirCmd Adware PUA, then you can try to
use, only for testing purpose (with the advise that is better to wait for a
QGIS 3.18.1 release), a new testing MSI installer for QGIS 3.18.0
QGIS-OSGeo4W-3.18.0-1.msi wihch is also available on
https://qgis.org/downloads/?C=M;O=D and is digitally signed and which
doesn't use the NirCmd tool in the installer.

Best regards.

2021-03-12 Thread Martin Bittens

Hello Sebastian,

thank you for your response. Yes indeed, for me the coloring style you
showed would be an option. This style is what I get in GRASS GIS as
well. But,

what I would prefer in QGIS is this (as provided by QGIS 3.16.4 LTR):

So I hope that in future QGIS versions, the user will have the choice
between the different display options. As far as I understood the
discussions in the links you sent there is something going on in order
to add an option for selecting the new  or the old display style.
Unfortunately, I am not an expert in that programming stuff and
therefore I don't know how to apply what there is explained. I will wait
and see what the next QGIS versions offer for displaying raster gradient
legends. And I will keep the QGIS 3.16.4 LTR with special care not
loosing the display style I showed above.

Martin

Martin,
I agree with your assessment.
I assume the assumption of the designers (thank you Nyall Dawson et al
for all of your amazing work) was that if you were displaying a
continuous raster you would want a continuous legend as well.
As shown by your issue and in the links I shared with you the reality
is that this doesn't fit all use cases.
I am considering writing up a feature request to address those issues.
Unless you want to?
To help me understand your use case more would a legend that was
continuous but had numerical values at each "break" work for you? An
example of this is in this tutorial

Sebastian, Bernd,

thanks a lot for your response. I checked the links Sebastian
sent. As far as I could see displaying data in the legend as a
continuum is a new feature in QGIS 3.18 which replaced the
previous method displaying data in the legend as categories (as
QGIS 3.16.4 is still doing - fortunately. Otherwise it would be
difficult producing maps in ongoing projects in a consistent
layout). And obviously there is no option available switching
between the old and the new display method. Personally I think it
was not a good decision giving up completely the categorical
display in the legend. In particular if you would work with
multiple colors and a large range of values, there is no way to
allocate map colors to the corresponding values, or vice versa.

So, I hope that the next QGIS version will include an option which
allows selecting the method how to  display the data, as continuum
or categorized.

[Qgis-user] Access database via cmd

2021-03-12 Thread Karl Magnus Jönsson
Hi!
Good news! Thanks. I wonder if you tried to connect to a PostGIS database from
command line. As a parameter. In graphical mode it works and looks like:

'postgres://dbname=\'geodb\' host=servername port=5432 user=\'user\'
password=\'pwd\' sslmode=disable key=\'UNIK\' estimatedmetadata=true srid=3008
type=PolygonZ checkPrimaryKeyUnicity=\'1\' table=\"pri\".\"byggnad_\" (geom)'

If it's possible in cmd I don't know how to format it properly.

es. i numeri civici).

Grazie a tutti.

overlay_nearest(  layer:='strade', expression:="name")[0]

Re: [Qgis-user] Combing Vector Layers - With Attributes

2021-03-12 Thread Bo Victor Thomsen
You can use processing algorithm "refactor fields" on the layer(s) that
have fields to be changed. This operation will give you a temporary
file/layer the same number of columns and -names as the original layer,
but with column type(s) redefined by you.

Afterwards you can merge the temporary file/layer with the other layers

Just be sure to have the latest (functioning) version of QGIS installed:
3.16.3. From the error message you included, I suspect you have an older
version of QGIS installed. I tried to merge 2 layers using QGIS 3.16.3
and the result was a new layer that contained the merged layers. If
there was a data discrepancy the result values were null's (but no
run-time errors)

Hello Ms. Andrea,

Good Day.

Thank you for the inputs.

We have downloaded the on this website https://www.qgis.org/en/site/ using by
clicking the "Download Now" for Version 3.18.0 which we were able to download
the "QGIS-OSGeo4W-3.18.0-1-Setup-x86_64" installer with a file size of 390 MB,
this installer was downloaded last February 25, 2021.

We are looking forward for the stable release of QGIS Version 3.18.1 next week.

Hi Alyza,
I wonder how you managed to download a 3.18.0 installer from from
https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html and exactly what installer
you have downloaded.

In fact, currently the download of the QGIS 3.18.0 standalone installers for
Windows (and macOS) is disabled from the normal download page
https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html and they are only available
for testing purpose through the https://qgis.org/downloads/ page with the
advise that is better to wait for a QGIS 3.18.1 release (that will be released
the next week).

It is not even possible to install QGIS 3.18.0 using the regular OSGeo4W
Network Installer at the moment.

Anyway, the Windows installers are digitally signed with the "The Open Source
Geospatial Foundation" certificate issued by DigiCert SHA2 Assured ID Code
Signing CA and they also came with a sha256 hash so you can check for tampering
or download errors.

If you check the installers available on https://qgis.org/downloads/ using the
VirusTotal web services www.virustotal.com, you'll find that no antivirus
software on that platform is detecting QGIS-OSGeo4W-3.18.0-1-Setup-x86_64.exe
as a virus or containing any PUAs.

If you double check that you downloaded the installer from
https://www.qgis.org/ and that it is digitally signed with corresponding hash
but your antivirus detects it as NirCmd Adware PUA, then you can try to use,
only for testing purpose (with the advise that is better to wait for a QGIS
3.18.1 release), a new testing MSI installer for QGIS 3.18.0
QGIS-OSGeo4W-3.18.0-1.msi wihch is also available on
https://qgis.org/downloads/?C=M;O=D and is digitally signed and which doesn't
use the NirCmd tool in the installer.

Best regards.

[Qgis-user] Combing Vector Layers - With Attributes

2021-03-12 Thread Springfield Harrison

Hello All,

I have a master database (point shapefile) of trees to which I need to
add new records frequently.  The two files have different (but similar)
attribute lists.  I need to combine them and add the new attributes into
the appropriate SHP database columns.

Copying and pasting records from the new file into the master list does
work but if the fields are not identical, no attributes are brought into
the master file.

Is there a way to import the new records into their corresponding fields
in the master file?

I've searched for help on this to no avail.  Manifold GIS handles this
very well, setting up a field matching dialogue but I would prefer to
keep the process within QGIS.

Thanks very much for any ideas . . . .
