[qmailtoaster] squirrelmail change sql password plugin

2007-05-22 Thread
Hello, I'm thinking in allowing users of our mail server to change their mail
password whenever they want through squirrel mail. I found in
www.squirrelmail.org a plugin called Change Sql Password. It is version 3.3-1.2
November 12 2005 (the newest) and requires as well the Compatibility plugin
version 2.0.7 April 6 2007 (again the latest one). I'd like to know if someone
has installed this plugin with the last version of QT and if it works fine (I'm
using fedora core 6). Any info would be appreciated, Marcos

You also have the *QmailAdmin Login plugin*
which allow you to log into qmailadmin directly and change your
password, set your routing or add a vacancy message.

Works like a charm

Disabling chkuser will set your limit at whatever the
/var/qmail/control/concurrencyincoming is. If you're talking about
bypassing chkuser by way of the tcp.smtp file, that would be a good
question. I'd assume the above was still valid, but would want to check.
You can bump the value for CHKUSER in tcp.smtp, but there is a hard
limit at 254 (if I remember right) that can be changed - it's a compile
option.

RE: [qmailtoaster] How to disable "ezmlm warning" message...

2007-05-22 Thread Dan Herbon
Here's my problem, which I have posted before. One of my servers has 500
users setup on it, 400 of those are sales people. They are all members of a
list called "sales" setup via QmailAdmin. Now when holidays come they all
setup their Out Of Office replies. When they return they receive an Ezmlm
warning with a list of "bounced" messages that were sent to them while they
were gone.

The mailing list messages bounce because their Out Of Office reply is on.
This in turn causes the Ezmlm warning to send a response to the user.
Sometimes as many as 400 ezmlm warnings are sent out in 1 day. Now I have
400 sales people sending me emails, calling me or forwarding the Ezmlm
warning panicing asking me if they "lost" email from a client or what is the
warning about, etc. etc.

It's becoming a pain because they never remember what I told them before.

You can edit those bounce messages to say anything you want. The path
for the text delivered by ezmlm is (change v2gnu.com to your domain):

/home/vpopmail/domains/v2gnu.com/newvq/text/
You can also try modifying the ezmlm delivery path (.qmail-listname) and
changing the flags. Use "man ezmlm-reject" to see the various flags.

Here's my problem, which I have posted before. One of my servers has 500

setup their Out Of Office replies.

Now I have
400 sales people sending me emails, calling me or forwarding the Ezmlm
warning panicing asking me if they "lost" email from a client or what is the
warning about, etc. etc.

my suggestion setup the milist setting like below
- Replies should go to the original sender. so "Out of Office reply"
wont looping
- increase the mailbox quota for sales people who take holiday more than
a week

It's becoming a pain because they never remember what I told them before.

Users right?? that why there is a sysadmin /techsupport in this world...

setup an internal blog / forum / website to show the frequently asked

put your description in their native languange (human languange ) not IT

vchkpw is the group and it has number 89.
vpopmail is the user. It has a uid of 89 and is assigned to group 89

These are both correct.

It has to be 89:89. You'll see that it's defined in your /etc/passwd file.

to 89 then I had to rebuild the cdb file buy running

might want to run qmailctl restart.. :)

[qmailtoaster] Bounced messages issue

2007-05-22 Thread Alex
I have a pretty active alias on my server that forwards to a group of
external email addresses. Yesterday one of those external recepients had
issues with their mail server.

So my server after a while started bouncing messages back to the senders
saying that there was a problem delivering their mail to the external
mail. These are classified I think as misderected bounces and now I am
on spamcop.

http://spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/329.html#bounces

Is there a way to stop my server from sending these bounces and just
accept messages permanently or discard silently if they can not be
forwarded?

Please help

I wonder how this question is controlled when you're using POP3 or IMAP

[qmailtoaster] tcp.smtp rules

2007-05-22 Thread Fernando Azevedo
Hi List!

I wonder if it is possible to define subnets in the tcp.smtp rules file. I
understand that I I want, for instance, allow the 192.168.1.0/24 network to
relay, I'll prepend the respective line by 192.168.1.

What should I do if I just want to allow the 192.168.1.0/28 subnetwork? Should
I explicitly list the 14 IP addresses?

Thank you all in advance,
Fernando

[qmailtoaster] qtp-restore issues

2007-05-22 Thread Aaron Spurlock
I'm preparing to migrate to a new qmail-toaster box using the QMT-ISO
(great release by the way Jake!). I've set everything up, using a custom
ks.cfg for RAID (never can get RAID to do what I want with the text
based disk utilities...).

I downloaded and ran the qtp-backup script on my original box, editing
the file and putting in my variables as I don't have qtp on this system.
It appears to have tarred everything up just fine and I transferred that
to my new box.

After a bit of wrestling, I think I have everything restoring okay, but
I do notice a few things:

1. admin.pass doesn't come back; the backup created
-qmailadminpasswd.tar.bz2, and qtp-restore is trying to restore
-qmailadminpassword.tar.bz2 - NOTE password versus passwd there. I
don't know if this is a bug in the script you are already aware of, or
if I am using mismatched scripts?

2. is it supposed to clean up after itself once the restore is done? I
have all of the file left over in /root, including the home and var
folders. I'm just wondering if this is normal, and I remove these
myself, or did something else go wonky in the script?

Thanks!

Aaron Spurlock

The password/passwd thing was probably a typo on my part. I've fixed it
on my site (v2gnu.com).
You shouldn't have needed to change the variables to run without QTP. It
was set up (so I had hoped) to run either way.
And no, it doesn't clean the files up for you - just for the above
reasons. If everything went well you can go ahead and remove the files.
I leave them there in case something didn't go correctly, you don't have
to transfer the files again to correct it.

Have a good one!

Re: [qmailtoaster] Configuration Backup

2007-05-22 Thread George Toft

I wrote a custom script that checks a few things:
- It sends a local account an e-mail, and waits for delivery (takes 0-3
seconds)

- Looks for pop errors (unknown user and password failed
- Verified processes are up

And soon to be added:
- compares the directories in /home/vpopmail/domains with
/var/qmail/control/virtualdomains

- look for values under 60 in the output of qmailctl stat

Hi Guys

I’ve been wondering if anyone’ has had much experience with doing snmp
monitoring of a qmailtoaster box? I’ve used snmp on linux box’s before,
but Im wondering if there are any specific things to look at in regards
to the toaster?

Re: [qmailtoaster] MDADM and Exim on Centos 5

2007-05-22 Thread George Toft

well, I didn't quite rework it - I just hammered it into what I needed:

=[ START ]
#!/bin/sh
#
# CentOS 4.3 dependencies for basic install
#
#
# Removes sendmail and adds all deps
#
# Removes openssl and installs it again because
# it conflicts with it's own files (?)
#

rpm --import /usr/share/doc/centos-release-4/RPM*

yum -y remove sendmail
rpm -e --nodeps openssl

yum -y install autoconf automake automake17 bzip2 bzip2-devel curl
curl-devel expect expect-devel gcc gcc-c++ gcc-g77 gdbm gdbm-devel gmp
gmp-devel httpd httpd-devel httpd-manual httpd-suexec krb5-auth-dialog
krb5-devel krb5-libs krb5-workstation libgcc libidn libidn-devel libtool
mdadm redhat-lsb mrtg ntp openssh openssh-clients openssh-askpass
openssh-server openssl openssl-devel pcre pcre-devel perl-Digest-HMAC
perl-Digest-SHA1 perl-Net-DNS perl-Time-HiRes php php-ldap php-mysql
php-pear redhat-rpm-config rpm-build rpm-devel rpm-libs rpm-python sed
setup setuptool stunnel system-config-date which

rpm -e --nodeps exim
rm -rf /var/log/exim
=[ END ]

As you can see, I added mdadm and redhat-lsb *back* into the system, and
then forcibly remove exim and its log directory.

It seems to work pretty well so far.

Same thing happens on CentOS 4.4 - just found that out last night.

I will be reworking the cnt40-deps.sh scipt later this week to not
uninstall mdadm. Hopefully it works.

Aaron Johnson wrote:

MDADM, the multi-disk administration tool in Centos 5 at least
requires Exim. Exim is removed as part of the qmail-toaster install,
thus uninstalling mdadm. This isn't so bad if you only have one
multi-disk device (/dev/md0) because mdadm is also stored on the
initial ramdisk and can load the root file system.

Mdadm being removed during qmail-toaster installation did cause me
issues because I have a seperate raid (actually multi-path) disk
mounted at /home/vpopmail. My solution was to install mdadm
manually. You can get the sources from:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/raid/mdadm/ and it is a pretty
straight forward compile/install process.

I saw that an extra module has been added to the v310.pre config. Does
this replace the buggy qmail-dk?
