I am also able to open files fine with a REMOTE SQUIRRELMAIL with config
setup for DOVECOT imap.

So it seems it is a configuration or version problem in squirrelmail
install of qmailtoaster.

White list for what? SpamAssassin, Spamdyke, something else...?

[qmailtoaster] Domain Keys problem?

2011-08-10 Thread Mustafa Toraman
Hi all,

I need help about domain keys on QMT. For a long time, still I cant find any
solution to sign emails with domain keys. I have read the topic related about
disabling domain keys due broken keys since 2008. Then I tried a few patch for
it but there is no result.

Anybody using DKIM with QMT and what about results, could you pass
DKIM-Signature validation... any feedback would be great.

Also if there is anyone willing to share any updated tutorial to enable DKIM
properly that , he can save my day :)

Kind regards,
Greetings from Turkiye.

thanks very much for your reply

the problem is that this issue is happening on a random basis of different

gmail users from ukraine sent email to my client and it bounced back. this
is happening regularly

and in one case my own clients could not send out emails.

Oh, and before abandoning sanesecurity entirely, it could very well be
that there are some signatures out there that should be removed. It
would benefit the community to identify these and notify the signature
maintainers (via the sanesecurity list) that they need to be modified or
removed. Provided, of course, that your users aren't phishing. ;)

I realize it's a little extra work, but I think the best way to resolve
this would be to get the offending signatures removed. You'd be
providing better service to your customers as well as helping other
sanesecurity users by doing so.

eric

i will report the issue to sanesecurity but i cannot take further risk on
this and have disabled sanesecurity on my server.

All i did was stop qmail, simply rename the relevant files / directories,
restart qmail. So that if required i can enable it in future.

the problem is that there is no way to control sanesecurity in the current
installation -- ie either the email is accepted or rejected. In
spamassassin we can set scores and have a middle option called "possible
spam" where email is marked as spam but not rejected.

the worst issue was that one of my client who is a construction company
was sending a simple PDF file with construction drawing and it was
rejected as junk

thanks for your help

Re: [qmailtoaster] how to add domain name to white list

This can be more complicated than you might think.

You'll want to put a whitelist_from or whitelist_from_rcvd entry in your
local.cf file.

On a Centos 5 install, this is located in /etc/mail/spamassassin.

More information about whitelist_from and whitelist_from_rcvd can be
found at
http://spamassassin.apache.org/full/3.2.x/doc/Mail_SpamAssassin_Conf.html.

The complication is here:

If you add a line like this:

   whitelist_from *@deom.com

all email with a from address of @deom.com will get a -100
added to its spamassassin score, effectively preventing the message from
getting blocked by simscan. But the 'from' address is easily spoofable,
so this can lead to more spam getting through.

The preferred option is whitelist_from_rcvd, like this:

   whitelist_from_rcvd *@deom.com deom.com

This means that any message with a from address of @deom.com,
coming from .deom.com, gets the -100 treatment. This should
prevent messages getting by where the 'from' address has been spoofed by
a spammer.

The trick is determining what server(s) messages from deom.com should be
coming from. You can do this by looking at headers from previous ham
messages received from deom.com senders. The last 'Received: from'
header before the message got to your toaster will probably include the
information you're looking for.
