[qmailtoaster] Re: Qmailadmin weirdness

2024-06-09 Thread Chris
Found it. When setting the domain defaults using
/home/vpopmail/bin/vmoddomlimits I had used NOQUOTA on the parameters
regarding the number of accounts, aliases, forwarders, etc. While it
looked like it worked, this was the source of the missing menu items in
qmailadmin. Once I re-ran the vmoddomlimits command against my domains
qmailadmin started behaving as expected.

2 characters not there comes a message to correct password. :(
That I need to run in a production environment QMT6/Dovecot :) I like the

I haven't tried to get it working. I like the idea though and would
consider including it in the stock QMT. It would need to be in the form of
a patch though that could easily be omitted in case someone needed to build
without it. Anyone care to create a patch file for this?

What's not working with it? Perhaps I can see what's wrong if I know the
 symptoms.

I think mantis (bug tracker) has been fixed, but not the qmailadmin

The undefined index notices are because the script has not checked if
the $_POST variables in question had been set, and initialised them
accordingly. It's quite common, and won't cause any problems.

Your php error reporting seems to include notices. Try changing it to
error_reporting = E_ALL  ~E_NOTICE in your php.ini. Restart apache
after that, and see if the errors still appear.

The notice on line 10 of admin.inc.php is to do with the fopen
statement. It should read $fd = fopen ( $file, 'r' ) instead of $fd =
fopen ( $file, r ). PHP has made the correct assumption in this case and
literally translated it to 'r'. Again, not an issue in this case, but
you can make the substitution if you desire.

Also do you have Qcontrol installed? Can you try to add/delete users via
Qcontrol?

Do you have your MySQL backup? As a last resort you can delete your
vpopmail database and import it from your sql file.

So I'm tracing my steps and following various forum threads on the

Nothing works. Restarts for qmailtoaster, Apache, and MySQL all fine.
Can login to mysql, can use command line commands for vpopmail, I

I wrote this original post but I'm replying from this email that I have
to use since my system isn't processing email. Interesting that this one
got through, as I never received it to the original address. So this
email may be somewhat tied to my other post about upgrading clamav and
email no longer working. Amazingly, I might have been right about that
since this email went through after I upgraded Webmin, and after I
upgraded qmailadmin. FYI I mentioned in my other thread that I fixed the
qmailadmin 500 internal server error by creating a symlink to the
libmysqlclient.so.15 in /usr/lib. I created symlinks to the others while
I was there, even though this alone fixed it:

cd /usr/lib
ln -s mysql/libmysqlclient.so.15.0.0 libmysqlclient.so.15

I still don't know why I needed to do this, since /etc/ld.so.conf
includes this line:

include ld.so.conf.d/*.conf

and ld.so.conf.d/*.conf points to /etc/ld.so.conf.d/mysql-i386.conf,
which includes this line:

/usr/lib/mysql

which is the directory that includes libmysqlclient.so.15 (symlink to
libmysqlclient.so.15.0.0). Smelled like a permision issue to me
yesterday, and still does.

getenforce command indicates disabled.

I've also just noticed squirrelmail is down (blank white screen). Log shows

PHP Warning: require_once(../config/config.php) [a
href='function.require-once'function.require-once/a]: failed to open
stream: Permission denied in
/usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/global.php on line 92

href='function.require'function.require/a]: Failed opening required
'../config/config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in

So squirrelmail and qmailadmin not working: fairly certain a result of
the Webmin upgrade, v1.410 to v1.490, as nothing else interesting going
on prior to that.

Webmin is modular and self contained within it's directory. You can
easily uninstall it to confirm this. I think you'll find that it is not
your problem.

If you think it still is e mail Jamie on the Webmin list. he is very
knowledgeable and promptly replies.

I really don't know. My toaster's (still) working, and the only
difference I see with mine is:
[r...@doris ld.so.conf.d]# ldd /usr/share/qmailadmin/index.cgi | grep
libmysql

libmysqlclient.so.15 = /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.15 (0x00246000)

mysql version:
[r...@doris ld.so.conf.d]# rpm -q mysql
mysql-5.0.45-7.el5

Did you upgrade anything recently? CentOS 5.4 just came out recently. I
haven't upgraded anything to that yet, but hope to do so this coming
week (on test servers first).

I can report that a 5.3 - 5.4 upgrade (yum update, no special notice taken
to QMT at all) worked and doesn't seem to have bothered my toaster any.

I'll be updating the toaster to current this week and let the list know if

(Empty .qmail files are treated as if they contain the default delivery instructions specified in defaultdelivery or on the qmail-start command line.) This is accomplished by populating the file with nothing but comments.
For example, a .qmail file containing only:

#or:# throw messages away undelivered
will efficiently throw messages away without delivering them.

In QMailAdmin, did you select a default catchall account? The bounces will go there. If you set it to delete the bounces, then what you're probably getting are double bounces. The server will try and send an error message
back to the user letting them know the message bounced, and since it's a bad email address they bounce back to your server. They bounced twice, so they're a double bounce. That would be my first guess. Otherwise, send the

The vpopmail package provides many libs used by the other packages. If
you change that package (in any way) you will have to recompile the

It is recommended that you remove the packages first and then install.

 --enable-tcprules-prog=/usr/bin/tcprules \
 --enable-tcpserver-file=/etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp \
 --enable-make-seekable \
 --disable-clear-passwd \

So it looks like I disabled that in vpopmail, could it be done in
qmailadmin as well? If I removed qmailadmin and rebuilt it with
--disable-clear-passwd would I have to remove all of my packages and
 start over?
I ask because that I cannot do. My email server is running great
 besides this minor qmailadmin issue.

It won't adversely affect your install. However if you had already

qmailadmin to work after rebuilding.

Can you send me the changes applied to your vpopmail? Just what is
different, not the whole thing.

So, to get to the point I am currently at, I rebuilt each package

SO, that is why I am asking, will I hose my server if I rpm -e

I will.

Thanks Erik-

It won't adversely affect your install. However if you had already
rebuilt against the customized vpopmail, then you probably won't get
 qmailadmin to work after rebuilding.

Can you send me the changes applied to your vpopmail? Just what is
 different, not the whole thing.

 Thanks,
 Erik

I havent rebuilt anything in the past few weeks.
I was stating during my last install of the toaster packages, I
rebuilt each rpm, and applied the --disable-clear-passwords config for
  vpopmail.
So, to get to the point I am currently at, I rebuilt each package
--with cnt40. qmailadmin is the only thing that does not work since I
  copied over the domains folder.

SO, that is why I am asking, will I hose my server if I rpm -e
  qmailadmin-toaster.rpm?
because at the current time, my mail server works great, except for
qmailadmin, therefore I will not remove qmailadmin if it will
  adversely affect my server.

Sorry I should have been more clear.

   Mike,

I'm a little confused. Are you still having problems after rebuilding
everything? If so, is it still the qmailadmin problem mentioned
   before.

   Thanks,
   Erik
