Cipro, is a very powerful chemical. If you remember a couple of summers ago
when white power threats and US Mail were in the headlines each night. At
that time our country was trying to stockpile enough Cipro for the entire
population. Back then, we were really behind in production.

Hence, when you have a major infection, the strongest medicine is used or
recommended. What happens when your body becomes used to such medication?
Learning to fight and maintain bacteria control at the home level is most
important. Create an environment for bacteria and you will have lots of it.
Creating a hostile environment for bacteria and you will be healthier and
use less medicine and have sight effects from those meds. lol, did I hear
someone mention apple cider vinegar and honey?

Best Wishes

[QUAD-L] Typos using Dragon NaturallySpeaking

2007-11-14 Thread Lori Michaelson
My goodness! I am usually in a hurry to get my e-mails out so I do not
always proofread my e-mails with a fine toothed comb before sending them
out. In my last e-mail regarding vans (and Crow River lifts) Dragon typed
out "I list to leave you" when what I said was "I was too lazy to" *Huge
difference* and I cannot believe I did not catch it as I was watching the
words go across the screen.

I have noticed recently that others have had the same problem but I am able
to decipher what they really mean. Like almost all programs... Dragon
NaturallySpeaking always wants you to update but it is never any better than
the previous ones.

Thank you, W, for unthawing my brain or memory bank. I list to leave you to
go through a bunch of websites in hopes of finding the name in question
(Crow River). So Braun bought them out, huh? Not surprising since
corporate takeovers have been the "in thing" for the last 25 years or
longer.

My Braun Entervan only has about 62,000 miles on it for almost 10 years so I
imagine I will be keeping it until I am forced not to. Again, there are
pros and cons to both of them and it's too bad that I cannot afford both
sizes! Well of course taking into consideration insurance, repairs and so
on.

I have two questions. One or most of you given for respiratory infections and
UTI's? I feel like I might be having both of the same time. Trach suctioning
is smelly and so is the urine. The nurses I used to use say they don't have
any nurses to come to my house to take cultures. I called my insurance and
left a message in the case manager, but of course she was not in. I have been
working on trying to get a nurse for several weeks.

I called the doctor and they gave me some names and I suggested Levaquin, but
they prescribed Cipro.
Sorry about the bold but I can't get the bold to shut off with Dragon or my
splint.

I will greatly appreciate your knowledge with what they use for you.
Thank you.

I don’t get a chance to post here often but I had to add my 2 cents to the van
thread! I have a 2006 Sprinter – 158” (longest and tallest) with the 5 speed
turbo diesel engine. It has 48,000 miles that I put all but 4000 of them on it
in the last 18 months. It has lots of power and keeps up on the biggest hills
(we picked it up in Portland , OR and drove it home to Florida )
It gets about 20-21 mpg-diesel. I love it! Sure isn’t the prettiest but it has
lots of room and drives great! I’ll be finishing the interior into a modified
motor home to have sleeping, generator, refrigerator and basic accommodations.
I need all the room in it to transport dogs. I run a service dog program so am
on the road a lot. My last van was a 1993 Ford E150- it has 216,000 miles and 3
engines and 2 transmissions. I hope to keep my Sprinter for 500,000 miles! I’ve
seen them with that many miles. The ugly duckling can be a swan;)

Ok, Wheelchair. Why aren't y'all making eyes at that 5 cyl dodge sprinter? It

crysler, its a minivan by Mercedes! Front wheel drive. Already got headroom.
I'm surprized no one has mentioned them when looking for a personal vehicle.
Your right on one thing John, I just looked it up on the netIT AIN'T
PRETTY! That's plain ugly :-) So far I'm really happy with my Dodge Grand
Caravan SXT. I like the looks, the smooth ride & of course the stereo system:-)
One thing that has me a bit concerned is when I'm backing up on the ramp my
wheels do a lot of skidding when wet & snow season is right around the corner.
It has slits on it, I presume for traction but I'm not impressed with that.

Re: [QUAD-L] Vans what to buys what not to...

2007-11-14 Thread John S.
I feel the same way, Joan. I haven';t got a van but I did take a driving class
and I'd have a heart attack if I drove. I scare me!I'm lucky enough to have a
transit board that gets so much federal money they have to provide some system
for us crips. It needs improvement but it is fun at times. You gotta give them
some slackuhm,,because after them there is nothing! It is cheap and you can
take anyone person with you free.
You have to have an ID card to call them and get a ride and you need to give
details about when you might want a ride home. I would have a member card even
if I had a van. Its worth it as a backup.I hate the long waits but I take dark
glasses and headphones with soft jazz on a cd, and a hat with a few dollars on
the inner brim. For those of you who haven't tried begging :D , it is sort of a
rush. I have a good time most days but I do take valium when I go on trips.
May all your trips be safe and don't forget your luggage.

Since I have had to buy all my own vans-OK just 2-and I did not have a
settlement or any extra money to speak of, I found that the best way for me
(you need to realize that I have never been car crazy, if it looks nice and
runs safely with enough power for our mountainous area I am happy) was to go
with a converted RV van. I found a 1990 dodge van, ¾ ton, that had been totally
rebuilt. This was in 2003, and it cost me $4500. I got my lift from Ebay, with
shipping and installation it was $1250. Each year I budget X number of dollars
to maintain it and/or improve on it. I will never be able to drive, and I do
miss being able to see out, but I like my reliable and inexpensive van. So each
of us has our own way of getting around.
Joan
