Hi,
Ive been on this list a few years and read all your entries as well as the
ones on junkie you post. I admit you are a knowledgable man about disabled
things of all kind and you obviously have a decent iq. But the question I have
is you have some secrets that a few know on here that you dont reveal to the
masses. Ive assummed that you are not a chair user yourself, but you must
either have a wife that was or is in a chair.or you work in the medical
field. My question is

Why is this a mystery to most? Is this like a fraternity that once you put
your ten years in you find out?

I use to have this happen to me all the time. I went for lunch one day with
my mother and on the way home I was having trouble with the color of traffic
lights. ( The restraunt was only 3 miles away) and I was driving. I kept
telling her I could make it. That put an end to eating out. I was told the
same
thing...blood rushing to digest the food. I wasn't eating well, no breakfast,
no lunch and a small dinner. I forced myself to eat more and I don't have the
problem anymore. At the time I was also on prozac. This was all several yrs
ago, no longer on that drug. I really think I needed to eat properly because
it doesn't happen anymore. I understand your concern as it worried me. If we
went to dinner at family gatherings, I would have to be laid on a couch for
about an hour.

I hope by now you've looked at _www.roadrunnermobility.com_
(http://www.roadrunnermobility.com) and made arrangements with them. Be that
as it may. You
can't imagine the legal ramifications these days with DME working on
wheelchairs not sold by them. The other side is being reimbursed by CMS for
equipment not paid for by CMS. It is such a major business headache that most
DME,
"just say no."

Since Invacare purchased RoadRunner Mobility in Janurary of this year, most
of the field service is being done by them in North America. This might be
another issue with the local DME as Invacare pays Road Runner less money than
they did the DME for service work done for the provider.

You and so many others may find yourself between a rock and a hard spot
because of this. Hence it is always wise to develop friendships with local
DME's
before you need them and not during an emergency.

I sorry to read that reaction from your local dealers. I can see their

Did
you offer to take it to them for evaluation?
If you are covered by Medicare or Medicaid, you can try a company called:

out of Richardson, Tx. They offer in the house repair services and loaners.
They are the field service end of Invacare 5 Star Service Program.

I just learn recently that Invacare purchased RoadRunner Mobility in

Let us know how they do good or bad for you.

Hi,
Ive been on this list a few years and read all your entries as well as the
ones on junkie you post. I admit you are a knowledgable man about disabled
things of all kind and you obviously have a decent iq. But the question I
have is you have some secrets that a few know on here that you dont reveal
to the masses. Ive assummed that you are not a chair user yourself, but you
must either have a wife that was or is in a chair..or you work in the
medical field. My question is

Why is this a mystery to most? Is this like a fraternity that once you put
your ten years in you find out?

Re: [QUAD-L] dizzy spells

2008-07-17 Thread t crook
Hi and welcome-

I have been on the list since about '93, and have been a c5-c6 quad for 20 yrs.
next month.
My question is- what is your blood pressure running? I do (like many) suffer
from orthostatic hypotension (upright position/
low blood pressure) due to paralysis. Due to my muscle loss in the lower
extremities; I have been suffering from more low bp's over the last year or so.
I have gone through a battery of tests to eliminate health related (other than
SCI) possibilities. I had my adrenal glands tested and they were fine, my blood
work was good. My doctor put me on Midodrine, and I am feeling like the
energizer bunny. I have more energy, no episodes of vertigo or dizzy
spells. Diet and digestion can play a role in your bp like Mark (I believe)
mentioned.

I have many posts to catch up on, I just really haven't had the energy and time
to post.

Here is a link to check out on orthostatic hypotension--->

Good Luck!

Subject: [QUAD-L] dizzy spells

Hi,

I am new at this so I really don't know how this works, so here it goes.  I am
a 49 yr. old C 3-4 quad.  I can not move anything below my shoulders but I am
not on a vent.  I am going on my 24th year.  The past 2 to 2 1/2 years I have
been having dizzy spells to where if I don't tilt back in my w/c I will pass
completely out.  It happens after I eat a meal.  I have been to different Dr.'s
about this and the only thing they can tell me is that my blood is going into
my digestion system.  The only problem is it doesn't happen every time I eat.
Has anyone ever heard of a problem like this?  I also have scoliosis bad.  My
spine curves bad right in between my shoulders.  Could this have anything to do
with it?  Any reply would be helpful.

Thanks Eric. I must have missed Ron's original posting as I didn't see it

I've been around here since, I'm guessing 92 and sharing that which I've

who
knows me... knows that I've always advocated that this is your planet and
I'm merely a visitor from another planet. Thru my endeavors I've met so many
people from around the world and nationally. To those who know me and there
are alot, they realize that I'm not here for the ego, but rather to share
credible information, especially new members.

I know that Ron and I have IM in the past and I thought I explained myself
to him in private, but perhaps maybe not.

Lori is helpful at least once a year in telling members here that I'm not a
chair user and that is good for new members. I've worked with some great
organizations and the knowledge I've learned, I've always tried to share. I
continue to learn daily and do not hesitate to share that knowledge with
others.
I also enjoy being in the background where I can do my best work. Our host

hope that he continues that understanding. I don't know what else I can tell
