[QUAD-L] Seeing my spine Doctor

2015-01-24 Thread Gmail
Wednesday I'm going to see my spine/rehab Doctor. After sitting for 42 years
I'm going to ask her to prescribe a few X-Rays to determine if I (officially)
have vertebral compression fractures, arthritis in my neck and spine, spinal
stenosis.
Can anybody suggest anything else I should be checked for?
I already know I have osteoporosis, Syringomyelia and scoliosis.
I believe that being properly diagnose leads to proper treatment.
My foot droop seams to be getting worse, so I need to get some state of the
art foot drop boots.
Also, when I'm in my chair and in bed I have a terrible time getting
comfortable and feeling straight. My hips seam to be out of whack or
something.

I'll let you know what comes out From my appointment.

2015-01-24 Thread John S.
Anxiety is common with quads. I also have a lot of trouble with arthritis in
many joints. Often it is  the source of AD for me. I'll be 40 years post in
September. I hope that you do better than I have in tolerating it.
I use Valium for anxiety and ibuprofen to oxycontin for the arthritis pain.
While I don't feel much of the pain my body does. Explaining it to doctors gets
old.
Best wishes, John s.

I've used a 3 Rhoh mattress for well over 22 years. It only comes in single
size, I put a filler egg create mattress folded in half on the other half of
my full size hospital bed.
The Roho mattress comes in 3 sections that snap together and you inflate it the
same way you would a seat cushion.
I can stay in any position for over 10 hours without any redness on my skin.

I call my youngest granddaughter my insurance policy, because I want to see her

said that she didn’t make a mess, so why should she clean it up? Miss Tiffany
patiently explained that we all work together etc. etc. Et cetera. The five

the thing to do! Her poor mom and dad.

Congratulations David

What level are you? I am also lucky and have few medical issues and so far none
that are SCI related exclusively. I had arthritis before I broke my neck at age
51, but it really hasn’t spread much more. My left shoulder is bone on bone and
it sometimes flares up, but I have been able to control it with over the
counter pills. Not surprisingly at almost 76 I have osteoporosis, but with
Fosamax we have held it at a relatively low level. I am lucky enough to have an
outstanding general practitioner and works with me to keep prescription
medications at a very low level.

Staying busy and interested in the outside activities available helps to keep
my optimism up.

Keep on trucking, good for you.

Anxiety doesn't have a specific cause. It is a feeling of uneasiness, fear,
panic, difficulty breathing. You feel like you are going to explode. It is
irrational and some say it feels like a heart attack. I have had two panic
attacks in my life and I honestly thought I was dying. I do not wish to have a
third. I don't have a clue what caused them.

[QUAD-L] Quad life and stress

2015-01-24 Thread Gmail
I'm a meditation instructor and can Guarantee that's it will reduce your stress
by, at least, 90% or more.

Here is a prime example of how stress directly effects your breathing.

* Close your eyes and just breath as you would normally.

* Notice how the air goes in and out of your nose.

* Now, think of something that made you EXTREMLY angry, just furious.

* Notice how your breathing becomes shallow and your face and body tense up.

* Now, I want you to think of something that made you the happiest you've ever
been. Or made you laugh till you cried.

* Now notice how more air (and oxygen) comes into your body and your body
relaxes.

Try this exercise and let me know what you think. Bobbie
