No .. Thank You, for shedding some light on your motives and motivation.
I also wish for you the best in your Doctorate journey. A suggestion for
you in your search for information. The major SCI hospitals like Shepard,
Kessler, RIC, and Craig all have grant programs for in hospital programs.
You may spend 6 months to a year at each facility and be richly rewarded
with growing pool of subjects. These hospitals have similar grant programs for
OT's, RT's and PTs.
As previously mentioned by one of our female members, the numbers of women
with SCI continue to grow. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of resources
in consulting or counseling those women as they live normal lives and age.
One of those areas is Menopause & SCI.
Once again, I thank you.

I must say I smiled at the mention of Lou Dobbs. When I was hospitalized
while back, the first time for a medical reason in more than 5 1/2 years, I
watched a lot of CNN. I always thought Dobbs was a raving conservative, but
I think he just as firm convictions.

I wanted to send him an e-mail that said "I would be more inclined to
believe that you are a "populist independent" if you didn't have to remind
us six or seven times each show that you are a "populist independent."

Take care of yourself,

Oh, yeah... "No Bias, No Bull." I forgot about that. I have to turn it down
during Lou Dobbs (unless my BP is especially low that day!) and I don't always
turn it back up in time.

As for embyonic stem cell research, I can't seem to put it into a context of
"is it right or wrong" ... Not all science meets with everyone's definition of
"ethical." But science, in this case, is using "spare" embryos that ARE going
to be incinerated as "biohazardous waste" and taking a chance at putting them
to good use.

Some people feel genetically modified food is "unethical" and that the results
of GM pollen/nectar are killing off monarch butterflies. However, we DO need
food.

Best wishes & Good night!

You were quite correct that Obama is not to be credited with this particular
approval, but I think federal money will be coming next week or shortly
thereafter. As for me, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I know there are
others on here who don't agree with embryonic stem cell research, but I for
one am glad things are changing.

As for me, CNN is my secondary source in my house. I usually watch MSNBC.
It's definitely more left in the evening, but I often find that I get much
more out of the shows than I do anywhere else.

If I were to choose a CNN show I like to watch, it would be Campbell
Brown's.
Just my opinion.

Obama is admittedly a stretch, but the coincidence of FDA approval the day

Hi Bob...

I can't dispute, in my opinion, that this is exciting news. I'm very curious
how these trials to determine the safety of injecting embyonic stem cells into
human SCI patients turn out... and how much farther they're able to go.
(Today's announced procedure is just to be sure applying stem cells won't harm
or kill a patient.)

However, it's a little early to thank President Obama. The Bush Administration
wouldn't have stopped this Phase I test from going forward in any way because
it's all being done in a privately-funded lab with no government money. In
fact, the FDA has been studying the plans and background research for this for
a while, now. The application was in months ago.

The best news is that *IF* this Phase I shows promise, the company itself or
publicly-funded universities it could work with might soon be able to apply for
Federal grant money to continue the work and collaborate on methods used once
the ban on gov-funded emryonic stem cell research is lifted.

Best wishes to ALL...
(and I'm sure we'll be able to thank Obama in the future when the lifting of
the "Bush Ban on Science" helps move many things forward.)

Hi Tom,

I took a lot of info without any to offer when I first joined the list. I was
also barely paralyzed (well barely out of the hospital). That was about 6 yrs
ago. In May I broke my back and found out that a chunk of my spinal column was
in pieces and about 7 or 8 disks have been replaced with rods and cages. All
titatium. I had 3 surgeries. The 2nd one was b/c they didn't get it all (in a
totally different spot than broken) and the 3rd b/c they put a screw too close
to my aeorta. I have plenty of titanium to play golf now :). I hope it works
out great for you. I have a question for you. Could you feel the pain from
the first spinal fusion and if so how long before it stops hurting. I had my
last surgery in July and I still have pain if I turn a lot in bed which I have
to do because I'm still stuck in the bed.

been "ok Father help me to be a stronger person and help me grow through this"
Even if I have to say it through clenched teeth I say it.

I have received numerous e-mails, just have not had the opportunity to
read them. Know they are appreciated more than you will ever know! Thank you
for the quick response.

You guys are amazing!

Just cathed in bed and it leaked ~ had to change dresses, thank you Father
for this opportunity to grow, not going to have another meltdown!.

I am going to rest and watch a video a dear friend from church just gave
me. " I may be squeezed and pressed but I am not gonna break". by Joyce Meyer.

Funny How God works!!

My backup chair just got here! Thanks Father, I did not blow it and am
stronger because of it

Thanks again everyone !!

Hi Shelly,

It's wonderful that your blessings are coming so fast to you. Sometimes it
seems only the bad times come at us, and the blessings take their time getting
here, but if you trust the blessings ALWAYS get there. Stay strong.

Called the emergency service and he is going to bring a backup for me later

Sorry for the melt down last night! Today was an experience and I am so proud

Thank You for voting. I'm sure that you realize that not too long ago...
woman couldn't. Woman struggled and some died for the right. You have
definitely earned the right!
