Re: Fwd: [QUAD-L] Question

2016-03-18 Thread Dr.Ron and Sharion Austin
You need to distinguish between fluoride in water (1PPM) which is very
effective in reducing decay in teeth that are developing in bone. ( after
age 6-8 fluoride in water does very little) Topical fluoride(gels, rinse,
varnish) helps to a much smaller degree the teeth that are erupted.
I have not heard any one in the dental community recommend fl for 'burning
mouth syndrome'. One etiology is a vitamin B deficiency. However, there is
not any agreement on other possible causes. So the "Earthclinic" article is
as good as most dental literature on the syndrome.
Ps. I'm a dentist practicing 37 years

Re: Fwd: [QUAD-L] Question

2016-03-18 Thread Carolyn Boyles

Fluoride is not an effective dental remedy, despite what the dental
community will cram down your throat that it is. The government
needed a way to get rid of all the excess fluoride so they put it in
drinking water, claiming it would improve the dental health of the
country. Getting one of those WaterPik, HydroFloss, etc. treatment
units for your teeth is very helpful. I have terrible teeth and
gums. Tooth powder is almost more effective than toothpaste (see
IPSAB tooth powder below). Closys mouthwash is also very effective.

Here is a link I found to cures for Burning Mouth Sydrome:

http://www.earthclinic.com/cures/burning-mouth-syndrome.html

If you want some truly effective remedies for tooth problems
(disclaimer: I'm not associated with the company I'm recommending; I
just buy their products), look up The Heritage Store on the
Internet. You will find powdered IPSAB tooth powder, gum rinse, and
other related products. Read up on Edgar Cayce and you will discover
how he came up with all these cures. If you suffer from frequent
kidney stones and bladder infections, buy the watermelon seeds
powdered and make tea out of them. It works well making the tea with
a Mr. Coffee iced tea maker. The seeds are very bitter so you will
need to add a lot of sweetener to the tea. Use with tea from a
company like The Republic of Tea (TROT) because you don't want to be
drinking storebought tea since it contains things that actually
cause kidney stones. If you want a recommendation on the types of
tea we use to dissolve my husband's chronic kidney stores, e-mail me
off loop and I'll tell you which two teas we use from TROT.

Billy, great info, my friend. I appreciate you taking the time and effort
to enlighten me. Very helpful! And how did you get off that plane?

Larry,

I am my C5 25 years post, and I been on cruises many times. I would like to
think that the airlines have gotten better in caring for power chairs and
their passengers. Sadly, it is an adventure in and of itself.

Cruise ships especially the new ones, are wonderful in handicap
accommodations. Handicapped rooms are half again the size of a regular room
allowing for room to maneuver the wheelchair. Get a room with a balcony.
The newer ships allow you access to a balcony so you can actually look at
the flying Fish. Elevators are large enough for a power chair to enter and
turn around to exit.

I recommend you Google to find instructions on how to get the most out of
flying. Do not read posts older than two years because I don’t think
they’ll be relevant.

A caveat: I have had nightmarish experiences with airlines. Breaking
chairs, leaving chairs at places of embarkation (I once flew from Vancouver
to Newark, first-class bulkhead seats). My wife exited the plane and was
told that my Permobil did not make the flight! There I sat on the empty
plane in a first-class seat while the cleaning crew was preparing the
flight to England. On second thought, I should have just stayed on the
plane. It worked out and I got my $13K back from Continental for my family
group’s round-trip airfare by writing they had ruined my Alaskan vacation.
Boo-hoo boo-hoo.

You have time. Detailed planning and understanding what to do on each leg
of the itinerary should allay your fears and help you to enjoy the trip of
a lifetime.

Bon voyage

Fwd: [QUAD-L] Question

2014-10-29 Thread Larry Willis
Billy, a similar thing happened to me. My tie-down malfunctioned and the van
drove itself into a tree. Like you, I was awarded $250K but received only 100k.
It seemed like everybody I ever met had a claim to it. That was still the most
money I have ever seen..before or since! Sigh. Poor, broke, and pitiful.

I have a serious insurance question for you guys. I have private health
insurance through the Kentucky Retired Teachers Assoc. I just learned that
it will pay only 70% for 2015. That leaves a whopping 30% to come from me.
Is it possible or even worthwhile to get a supplemental policy to cover
the 30%? Or do those only apply to Medicare? At age 65 I will switch to
Medicare automatically. I am 62 now. My peeps got any wisdom on this?

This problem seems to be a lot more common than I thought. It makes sense that
sitting for years would make a person grow crooked (not to mention crazy). I
think it is a serious issue that we need to keep each other informed about. It
seems that age adds a new problem to our lives every week. Nay -- every day.
God bless, my friends. Larry

comando huh?  i like it.  and here i thought i was the only
one.  undies pinch off my texas cath too so easy decision.  my doc
keeps telling me to start wearing undies as the synthetic pants aren't good for
me.  he's ok for aspirin and uti drugs but other than that - my dog knows
more about quads.  luckily, i don't need a lot more - although i do have an
interesting story about the neurologist he referred me to recently.

Will I wear long skirts because I had a
problem with wearing panties. They were to close to my cath and made me bleed.
So now as they say in the Army. I'm going commando.

maybe just wear decorator panties that read, "what are YOU looking
at?"  then see who gets a red face.  i have that problem but i
wear long pants so i don't care.  maybe a scoop top would fix the
problem?

Hi
everyone,I'm really enjoying my power chair but I have a
problem.  My seating position is less than "lady-like"  ie:
my knees are as far apart as possible in the sitting position.
The chair fits me well, but there aren't any side guards like in my
manual chair.  I think these guards help keep my legs
together.  I feel really uncomfortable sitting like this, any
suggestions? My brother uses a bungee cord to keep his knees together
when playing quad-rugby, I really don't want to resort to that
  ;-)Thanks,River
