A person from wheelchair junkie just posted this on and asked everyone to
get the word out.

My power wheelchair and wheelchair van were both stolen Tuesday night, Aug
7, 2007, from the Springfield area of Western Massachusetts.

We were the victims of an armed home invasion. I had taken my Mom shopping
and come home about 8:00 pm. Sometime that evening, someone cut the screen
door and got in. They stole cash and my van keys that were on the table. We
didn't notice my van was gone until the next day.

The minivan was a 1999 Ford Windstar by VMI. It had hand-controls and a
steering knob. It had the folding ramp in the passenger sliding door.

Also, my power wheelchair was in the van. It was a blue Invacare M91 Pronto.

The police have had no luck so far in finding either the van or the chair. I
don't know if the thief just wanted a ride or if he knew it was a wheelchair
van before he took it. I don't know if he intends to strip it or sell it or
the chair.

If anyone hears anything, I have set up an email at:

Stealing, parking, bathrooms. the AB's just can't pass these gems up.
One guy who parked on the yellow hash marks between to HC spots told me I
don't need the extra space - just need to park close. (so, too bad for you.)

I think its another one of Carl Rove's plots. Nothing will change a liberal
to a conservative faster than stealing his car. That man makes Rick Nixon
look like a piker! Was home-sexual marriage a problem? No, but getting it on
the ballot got Bush reelected. Conservatives that hadn't voted since Kennedy
was elected came out to vote against gay marriage and while they were
there,, might as well vote Bush! The man is a conservative genious. The true
bain of every socialists existance. He probably has the hitler youth, er, i
mean young republicans out stealing liberal vehicles all over America!

I didn?t get it either Dan, this person just wanted to put the word out that
if you hear anything send an e-mail and nothing about giving anything.

I?m sure it?s insured but now it?s a long wait for him to get things back to
normal if that?s even possible.

The disabled kids was in the van cause the parents had somewhere to take her
early the next day and being easy to pick them up and transfer to a manual,
they figured it would be better to just leave it there and transfer in the
morning---they had just either got the van OR moved to a different home right
before this happened, so probably did not have a regulal routine worked out yet.

I think he meant they left the children's wheelchairs in the van since the
children were light enough to carry into the house and then back to the van in
the morning.
Idiotic crimes are on the rise. I guess the economy is in the dumper. I thought
it was just me struggling.
