[SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm length too short

2009-10-14 Thread JM2009

I am using SqueezeNetwork and the Alarm-Timeout of my Radio is set to 60
minutes.

If an alarm is activated I can hear the stream only 10 minutes. Then
the radio goes off.
When I press then one of the favorite-keys, I hear again the
alarm-stream for 10 Minutes. Then the radio goes off again.

For me it seems, that the radio is still in alarm-mode, but that there
is some kind of sleep-timer active

Has someone an idea?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm not working, when Ethernet-cable disconnected

2009-10-14 Thread JM2009

The box is connected via copper-cable to the Internet.

As far as I understood, the box should check the status to the
SqueezeCenter or SqueezeNetwork. If the status is down an
"emergency-tone" should be created instead of the configured
alarm-stream

Unclemat, Maybe you have not given it enough time to actually get use to
the functionality. It is an awesome device. Give it the 30 days you have
to try it. Learn its idiosyncrasies. It took me a while to learn the
Boom but now I know it. Same with the Radio...I am still learning it. So
far I think it is awesome. Bugs??? Well...all products that I am
familiar with that involve wireless and internet take some public use to
iron out the kinks. With user feedback,in time they get ironed out. This
is what I am finding out with Logitech...they will work it out. IMHO

Dialing in the Wi-Fi password and the MySqueeze.com stuff was indeed
painful but I was up and running in about 10 minutes.

Sounds good for a small device.

When I dialed into Music Library > New Music, I noticed that SBS 7.4.0
had inexplicably broken a single CD down into 3-4 segments of 2-3 songs
each again. However, I guess that one is for another thread.

Deciced. I am sending mine back.

I came back home today, attempt to turn it on ended up with weird
behavior, blank context menu, music not playing. Needless to say the
Boom next it to it works without a hitch.

It's a crap as it stands now. I might give it another chance in a year

another Boom.

Having lived very happily with an SB3, Boom and Transporter and
controller for over a year the radio has been a great addition. I really
enjoy the interface and its inspired me to sort out my album art tags
and address some of mistakes I have in the organization of my music
collection. Really with 7.41 the bathroom radio has been used a lot and
is now synced with my bedside Boom so I can follow NPR in the morning or
listen to a randomly selected set of music as I get started for the day
or retire for the night. I think this is going to be a big hit as the
initial gremlins are worked out and a others like me find it just works
out of the box...no hassle!

I actually have a last.fm account, but I found their "radio" so
unreliable (skipping, stopping in the middle of a track, playing totally
unrelated songs because there happen to be two bands with the same name,
etc.) that I hardly ever listen to it. I mainly use the service to get
event recommendations, and keep track of the events I have attended.
Don't know the other services though, maybe I'll give them a try.

toby10;471799 Wrote:

No, not at all. I already get so many spam mails each day that I would
not even notice if there were one or two more ;-)

I just don't want a device that is associated with an online service in
such a way that it becomes useless if that service is discontinued or
suffers a major downtime.

Unfortunately that seems to be the impression that you get from the
Radio when you first turn it on and it insists on connecting to
SqueezeNetwork. If I had already bought one before reading this thread,
I might have put it back into the box and returned it at that point. At
least there should be a note in the users manual how to set it up for
entirely local operation, IMHO.

I must admit that I have never been particularly good at understanding
management decisions, but I really wonder what the reasoning is to make
a product deliberately hard to get when people want to buy it.

If this was a collectors' item maybe they would be able to realize a
higher price for a limited edition. But if Logitech Germany doesn't come
up with a red one I will just buy it from said Dutch store, or forget
about the Radio altogether and get a used Boom on eBay. In either case
they sell one unit less, so where's the point?

First impression: very impressed. Sounds amazing, and display and user
interface are great.

Actually, I'm so impressed with the display that I'm wondering whether
to 'replace' one of my SB3's with a Touch. The Facebook app really
begins to work when there's a display like this has (and the Touch has).
I also like it for the album art and the little icons against radio
stations, and even radio progs for e.g. BBC iPlayer.

I'll be buying a red one too, if I can. Oh, and a couple of batteries.

Yes, I'm sure there are a few bugs to be found, and I am finding it a
bit tricky to switch between SBS and squeezenetwork (or whatever it's
called now), and to know which of these the radio is actually connected
to, but I'm happy with this thing so far.

Well done squeeze people.

Dave.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] How do I get the Radio to connect to mysb.com?

Got the radio today and it is fantastic if a little bug ridden. I too am
unable to connect to mySB.com. When I connect to my iMac (Squeezebox
Server) I am unable to connect back to mySB.com. I have edited the home
window so the option is there but when I select it, it just blips at me
and does not move. I did a factory reset and it went back to mySB.com
but once again I could not get back after accessing music on the iMac.

I have tried the suggestions above as well.

The Mac is not on 24/7 so I rely my mySB.com for the various alarms.

Annoying as the SB3 and 2 Booms have been fantastic.

Any help much appreciated.

[SlimDevices: Radio] On/off connection to ReadyNAS

2009-10-14 Thread cidlockie

Sorry to register just to cry for help on the first post but I'm new to
all things Squeezebox and I'm having a bugger of a time setting it up.

I've managed, eventually, to get my new Radio (and the new Duet...) to
'see' my ReadyNAS Duo over the wireless network. I know it can see it
because if I go to the 'Music Folder' menu, it find the folders on the
NAS.

Unfortunately if I go to either the Artist or Album folder, it says
'Empty' every time. There's nothing wrong with the files on the NAS,
they have proper id3 tags and everything (they're mp3s).

Strangely as I started typing this, it now won't let me get into the
Music Folder menu anymore - it now says 'Problem connecting' in there.
It was working earlier, I changed nothing...

I can get internet radio to run fine on both the Radio and the Duet by
the way.

Has anyone else seen anything like this? I've got 7.4.0 of
SqueezeServer running on the NAS I think. Basically I'm just wondering
if I'm doing something stupid or whether this is the type of thing
that'll get ironed out with software releases.

Cheers,
cid.

2009-10-14 Thread Ikabob

I have said and will say again that I am thoroughly enjoying all of my
Squeezebox products. My recent purchase (SB Radio) is in the kitchen and
is playing when I go down in the morning for my 5:30 coffee. The sound
from all the products is very good and powerful. The Radio functions
very well as far as I am concerned and I am finding that the bugs in 7.4
are becoming fixed more and more with each "nightly build". I am very
impressed with the support we get on these forums and the techs who seem
to monitor our concerns and work on a remedy as soon as possible in most
cases. Many companies do not allow forums of this sort for fear of bad
marketing strategy but Logitech encourages participation on the forums.
This means to me that they DO want there customers to be 100% satisfied
with their products and they are dedicated to that goal. I stick with a
company that cares and , I believe , that this is a company that will
strive to satisfy and bring the best products to its loyal customers.
So, do not abandon those radiosthey are awesome instruments of en
endless sourse of music, sports, talk, et cetera.

I definitely appreciate the Logitech products. I have faith in
Logitech.

Just received a Red and Black from my UK distributor today - got the Red
one running on the desk now - very nice indeed !!

They still have stock of both - so if anyone is still struggling in the
UK to source one let me know.
