does the same if I select the album, select the track, hit play, and

I would assume I can select one track and hit play, but it doesn't work

No - iPlayer Radio works for both UK and non UK. Non UK listeners get
the same slow (typically 48k) links but now using better quality codec

You post is a little contradictory ?

If your connected directly to msb.com sync can not be expected to work
.

If you are listening trough your server sync should work .
Does it work with local files ? try that .
It should work with radio streams to, when you are listening to radio
trough your local server AND syncs then the server is in reality only
using one stream from the web station and proxies it to your multiple
players.
But to rule out the server/network stuff try with local files first.

If you are listening directly trough msb.com every sb gets it's own
stream even if they are on the same radio channel and as the players
are controlled from afar all things can and will happen regarding sync.

I think it shall work exactly the same with all players, be able to

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Sync is very slightly off.

2009-10-23 Thread awy

There is a bit of misinformation here.

Sync does work with mySB.com but only for music services, such as
Pandora, Rhapsody, Napster, etc. That is, services that deliver discrete
tracks, one after another, rather than a continuous stream.

For radio stations it will not work usefully. It will actually keep
them exactly the same time apart :-). This is because each SB connects
independently to the stream source, but it turns out not to be at
exactly the same time. mySB has no way of working out what the
difference in time might be.

Sometimes a useful technique can be to keep restarting the station
until the two players start up sufficiently in sync.

It is also the case that sync can be not quite so tight with mySB but
that depends upon many factors. Often it is as good as a local SbS
(except for radio).

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio randomly disconnects from router

2009-10-23 Thread jay_cee_in_da_house

The music drops out or the wifi signal drops out (as indicated by signal
strength indicator on lower right)?

I had some loss-of-wifi-signal issues with my Apple Airport Extreme
router. It would show 3 bars for a while but would then lose the signal
entirely and wouldn't get it back even if I unplugged the radio and
moved it right next to the router. I think there is definitely some
firmware issues there that need to be cleaned up. The radio should be
able to recover much better from a lost-signal type situation.

Anyway - There was definitely an underlying signal strength issue in my
case. I ended up buying an Airport Express, and enabling WDS (which was
amazingly undocumented with the latest hardware - I had to hold down
control keys to find hidden menu items. Shame on Apple) and my Radio has
been rock-solid ever since...

[SlimDevices: Radio] Lost Subscription Stream

2009-10-23 Thread abysmillard

I updated to Squeezebox Server 7.4.1 yesterday and then updated the
firmware on my Squeezebox Radio. The radio appeared to work OK after,
but when I tried to return to a radio station after logging into the
server, I got a message that there was a problem and that I should reset
factory defaults. I did this, and almost everything works fine (except,
of course, that I had to redo all of my settings).

What doesn't work is that I have a premium subscription to RadioIO, and
have the app installed on the radio. Since the update, I am no longer
able to access the premium streams. I can find them in the menu, but
when I select a station I get the RadioIO tagline on the top of the
screen and the RadioIO logo in the center of the screen, but no sound. I
tried uninstalling the RadioIO app from mySqueezebox.com and
reinstalling with no effect. I removed my RadioIO account, uninstalled
the app from mysqueezebox.com, confirmed that it was not present on the
radio, and then reinstalled from msb.com and reenabled my account.
Nothing I've done has enabled me to access the premium streams again.

Does anyone have any ideas? Could this be a bug introduced with 7.4.1?
Thanks!

[SlimDevices: Radio] Weather Radar?

It seems to me that this unit is perfect for weather radar display.
Isn't anyone coming up with an app for that? Here we've got a nice color
display and it'd be great to see what's going on with the weather any
hour of the day or night. Earlier text-only apps should not make use of
this nice display.

[SlimDevices: Radio] preset and favorite bugs w/server 7.4.1

2009-10-23 Thread vintage veloce

Ok, So I have Squeezebox Radio and have setup www.mysqueezebox.com and
the Squeezebox Server 7.4.1. The radio itself says its release 7.4.1
r7915. The hardware version is 5.
What I find is that when I switch from Internet Radio to podcasts from
the server the favorites change and/or are erased. I actually suspect
they just change based on whether the radio thinks it's connected to the
Internet Radio (and then it uses squeezebox.com to save the favorites)
or the SqueezeboxServer (and then it uses those favorites). Also
switching between the Internet Radio stations and the podcasts from the
server seems to delete all of the Preset button settings. The presets
don't switch, they are deleted. How inconvenient.
I found an advanced setting on the web interface to the Server for
squeezebox.com called mysqueezebox.com Integration. Supposedly this
would control synchronization between mysqueezebox.com and the local
server. But the settings appear to have no effect on the favorites or
presets.
So as far as I can tell, the presets and settings are broken if you use
both Internet Radio and Squeezebox server.
Carl

PS:
I want to also note that there are just two many control panels for
this device:
- the front of the actual radio
- my squeezebox.com
- my squeezebox.com remote control
- the squeezebox server control panel
- the squeezebox server web advanced settings control panel
- the squeezebox server web remote control
And determining what should be used to do what? Well, who knows? Is
there a guide somewhere?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] I live in San Francisco - Where can I go buy one NOW?

2009-10-23 Thread Goodsounds

In the SF Bay Area, the East Bay commute routes (in any direction)
consistently rank near the top of the Worst Commutes lists the
newspapers periodically prepare. And that's nothing new, it's been that
way for a long while. Most people don't have to put up with quite as
much abuse as the East Bay folks do.

BUT, so long as everybody is happy where they are, and have the right
equipment to listen to the music they like, that's all that matters.
