Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] setting headphone jack to mono?
That's what I have in place now, and it does work, but I'd rather not use extra adapters if the radio can just output mono on its own. I know its not a big deal though. The other half of my reason for asking is I like tinkering with things and knowing how they work. -- PWB PWB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41141 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82837 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Why not just take a trip to Radio Shack and pick up a jack that converts the stereo signal from the headphone output to mono? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] setting headphone jack to mono?
Thanks bluegaspode. I have SSH'ed into the radio and looked a bit at the 'amixer' command and I think you're probably correct that it could possibly do what I want, but I am by no means a Linux guy and don't know what setting to change and what the syntax should be. Can anyone help me with the correct 'amixer' command to change the headphone output to mono? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Bug reports for 7.5.1.r9009
I have detected an improvement! The playercontrol on mysqueezebox.com has now worked for more than a week, without needing the daily reboot of the radio! Since no new downloads on the radio has occurred, I assume that some bug fixing of the playercontrol code must have taken place? No reboot of the radio for more than a week - amazing! Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SbS 7.6.x - patches gone for Radio?
Hi Erland, thanks for your advice. I think it was one of your plugins that I used to customize the alarm clock screensaver. I thought that I did some kind of misconfiguration on my SbS 7.6.x installation but now I know that it's not my mistake that the patches are not working anymore. I hope there soon will be 7.6 versions of your patches! Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio + External amp?
I have a squeezebox radio that I use to run my "whole house" sound system. I use the headphone jack output, and then an adapter to convert stereo to mono (because I only have a single speaker in each room) and then that signal gets split. One side of the split is plugged into a small digital amp that powers a speaker in my bedroom and one in my bathroom, and then the other side of the split cable goes into a wireless transmitter (that and the prementioned amp are inside my nightstand) that sends the sound to a wireless receiver/amp in my kitchen pantry that powers a speaker in my kitchen and one in the room with my pool table. All of this is controller using the iPhone app iPeng. It is such a great setup. I just did it all about a month ago and couldn't be more pleased. See attached pictures. If you have any questions on exactly what products I used or about the installation feel free to ask. The sound quality is actually very nice, and it was pretty cheap. The speakers were $70/pair, the amp powering 2 of them was $50, and the wireless transmitter and wireless receiver/amp were about $150 for the set. +---+ |Filename: IMG_3618.JPG | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=10812| +---+ -- PWB PWB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41141 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67652 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SbS 7.6.x - patches gone for Radio?
All patches are marked as only compatible with the latest official release, which is 7.5. I've so far felt it's too dangerous that people start patching beta releases of the firmware since there is a risk that some change in the firmware will suddenly break a patch and this could cause big problems. Beta firmware and patches isn't a good idea due to this, it's too dangerous unless you are a developer who can debug any problems that occur. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). [SlimDevices: Radio] SbS 7.6.x - patches gone for Radio?
Hi all! For my SB Radio with SbS 7.5.2 I uses a customized screensaver with a bigger clock display when the alarm was active. For this modification I used an applet called customized clock and with a particular patch that I installed via patch installer I could choose "classic clock" when the alarm was active. Today I tried latest Nightly Build of SbS 7.6.x and wanted to reinstall my clock screensaver but the patch installer did not find a single patch anymore... Is it generally impossible to install patches in SbS 7.6.x? FYI: SbS is running on a QNAP TS-509 Pro and everything else is fine. Who can help? You could ssh to the Radio and then use a command line web browser like lynx to accept the terms. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] can't connect to open wifi network
Thanks for the links, but connecting via a laptop or netbook isn't an option in this case. The radio is for someone staying in a hospital who doesn't have a spare laptop or netbook available. The hospital wifi system requires a "select terms" button click before it will grant access. I'm wondering if I can hack the software in the radio via SSH so it would send the appropriate response to the wifi network when first connecting. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I can take my laptop to the hospital when visiting to see what data is requested by the hosptial's network upon connection. -- plzdontspamme plzdontspamme's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41195 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82917 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SBR Advice please
Can't comment on all your questions but - is it load enough to say fill a bedroom or a kitchen (I don't mean party levels, just normal radio listening)? Definitely - I have mine in the kitchen and even on 75% volume it is louder than I ever need it. 100% volume is "ouch my ears" territory. The sound quality is very very good for saying it is only mono and a smallish speaker - is it really as hard as people say to get working or is that because the SBR is their first bit of squeeze kit? No - it's pretty easy - if you are not using it wireless (ie you said it would be directly cabled) then you will have no problems at all. The only issues I had were around the wireless router DHCP. It didn't seem to like multiple devices around the house (Wii, Ipod Touch etc) nicking it's IP address, so I set it as static and never had any more issues - does anyone know why the price has dropped in the UK recently, are Logitech bringing out a new model? Has it dropped? I bought mine from Amazon in January and it was the same price then as it is now (£114) Bear in mind that most of the posts on here are from people with problems - there are many many thousands more users who have no issues at all and no need to post anything I love my SBR - best bit of tech kit I've bought all year PS I don't use the alarm :) -- stevedresden stevedresden's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36189 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82923 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
