Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] EU : must shut down and tur on to listen to radios
I had the same exact experience on 31/12-2010 when MySB Europe went down. When MySB came up in the afternoon my radio was unable to connect until the BIG switch was pulled. However, the radio is one I just bought for my sister and I have NOT made a reserved IP for it in my router as I am just running burnin until it can be handed over; so that could be it. I will make a reservation and check next time MySB is down. Everything else have reserved addresses FYI my sister lives in Spain; Squeezeboxes are hard to find down there and way cheaper here. Created an account for her on MySB and it has been running since 23/12 until 31/12 when MySB died. -- slate Main: Duet (Audiocom) - Beresford Caiman - Carver A-500x - BW 704 Office: Duet - Technics SU-V50 - Stax SR84 Pro Server: Zotac IONITX-A, 4 GB, 1 TB WD EADS, Win7 w. 7.6 (SQLite w. [SlimDevices: Radio] Sprint Overdrive router
I bought my dad a SB for Xmas and I can't get it to connect to his sprint overdrive router. I'm hoping this is a simple solution. The SB finds the router in the list of available routers, but we only have the option to put in a 10 or 26 character password. His mobile router only requires a 5 digit password, so once you put in his 5 digit password, it waits for the remaining 5 or 21 remaining characters before it will do anything. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Pre-purchase questions
The alarm is not reliable. For over a year, it has exhibited various problems, which change randomly over time, as software updates are released. Logitech has not fixed the problem, which stems largely from the poor design, which implements alarms as a client-server task, requiring interactions between the radio, Mysqueezebox, and your local server. Some people claim that it works, which I suspect is related to their specific server and network setup and characteristics. A cheap alarm clock, next to the radio has been my solution. I would not recommend the radio for anyone needing a reliable alarm clock. -- davenva davenva's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34191 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83711 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

One more echo - the alarm is unreliable, and has been since the radio came out. It may work for days at a time, and then let you down. If you need to wake up on time every day, do not use the radio as an alarm. The design of the alarm, relying on a client/server interaction is as bad a technical design as I have ever seen. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Logitech don't care about us ! Class Action
IMHO. The internet media player part works fine, and is a very clever and enjoyable device. The alarm clearly has problems, due entirely to the design, which relies on networks and servers to provide a simple alarm function. I think that a lot of the venting here is simply frustration on the part of those familiar with good software design, who actually respect the device, but are frustrated knowing how much better the device could be with a fix to the alarm design. (Having managed software engineers, I know how crazy poor design can make them!) The obvious, and I suspect not difficult, fix is to move the full alarm functionality to the radio itself, so it works even if the network or server are unavailable. If this were done, the worst case would be the unavailability of a specific music or radio alarm due to network or server issues, resulting is a simple alarm tune or tone played from the radio. -- davenva davenva's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34191 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82804 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

After switching back to the pc, try doing something that requires a pc response, such as going to My Music. The 5 character WEP password is equivalent to a 10 character hexadecimal key (which is what the Squeezebox wants to use instead of a 5 character password). Use this site - http://easycalculation.com/ascii-hex.php - and enter the password in the text box. Then on your Squeezebox, enter the *Equivalent Hex Value* (minus the spaces). Or, if you would prefer to set up a more secure option, I would recommend switching from WEP to WPA or WPA2 (WPA2 preferred, with AES encryption if possible).
