Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Work-around for SqueezeBoxRadio wifi drop-out

2021-09-10 Thread TomS

Nice to have multiple ideas/alternatives (this one, wlanpoke), thank you
for taking the time to put workarounds together.

Would it be better in your script to ping the gateway instead of the
squeezebox server (which might go down for other reasons)? I realize if
the sb server goes down you aren't playing music anyway, but still
Just a thought really, ignore as you see fit.

I wonder if powering it separately would keep it working. I realize
this removes the ease of use unfortunately. Of course other solutions
(as mentioned by others, like the TP-Link N300) are possible.

Do you mean firmware on the radios? All are running this:

Player Model: Squeezebox Radio
Player Type: baby
Firmware: 7.7.3-r16676

And LMS is 8.1.1 (Ubuntu 20.04.2)

I have not yet updated to community firmware for the radios.

I was poking around the Unifi community forum - read a few times (maybe
from the same person) that 4.3.24 is not a great firmware and has issues
with DHCP among other things. Don't know if that factors in to anyone's
issues, just reporting. Clearly it works for some of us

For my 3 Unifi APs (AC Pro, AC Lite, AC IW), I am running Unifi
Controller 6.0.43 and all are running the latest firmware (4.3.24). I
don't see a v5 firmware for my APs but perhaps you have different model
APs (?).

I have issue with one of my radios, but the other two run fine using
these APs. I do have "fast roaming" switched off in the controller. I
also have separate wifi network ssids for 2.4 and 5 ghz. I hope
whenever there is a firmware upgrade to 5.x I don't get hit with what
you are seeing.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] WiFi connection unstable/lost on three Radios

2021-02-03 Thread TomS

Interestingly, I have one Radio which started showing this behavior
within an hour of restart. I went wired on that one because I could.
That was months ago. Now another radio drops connection after many
hours, like 15-18 hours. I have no idea why - my infrastructure hasn't
changed (ubiquiti stuff). Perhaps it is a neighbor's wifi/mesh, but
nothing is super close and all neighboring signals are weak, or so says
the unifi controller. Not sure that I have many choices - I may well
buy one of those wifi dongles off of Amazon. And a third radio, very
close to radio #2, continues to work fine in the current wifi
environment. Go figure.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] snooze/sleep failing?

2012-03-01 Thread TomS

Well, I finally figured out what was happening. I have the powersave
plugin installed, which was set to turn off my squeezebox radio 15
minutes after no activity. It was the culprit turning off the unit and
thus alarm, or so it seems. I guess it didn't see a snooze cycle (me
hitting the snooze) as activity. Disabling for this device seems to
have fixed it, although likely I could just put its timeout at greater
than my alarm timeout (e.g. 60 minutes).

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] snooze/sleep failing?

2012-02-22 Thread TomS

Okay, so I figured out how to get the logs off of the radio. My snooze
problem shows up in the log every morning, at a slightly different time
during snoozing.

Here's what the log says, can anyone tell me what it means? Bug?

Code:

  Feb 22 06:07:23 squeezeplay: ERROR net.thread - NetworkThread.lua:264 Error
running
notify_playerPower:...share/jive/applets/AlarmSnooze/AlarmSnoozeApplet.lua:726:

I've also attached a fuller snippet of the log for the morning. Alarm
goes off at 6:04, snooze 9 minutes, alarm, snooze 9 minutes, somewhere
in there lua errors out.

Any help appreciated.

[SlimDevices: Radio] snooze/sleep failing?

2012-01-17 Thread TomS

I have an alarm set for 6:05 am, every weekday. The alarm is a simple
playlist on my LMS machine. At 6:05 it goes off and I snooze it via a
knob push. 9 minutes later, it comes back on, I snooze it via a knob
push. That's it, the alarm shuts itself off sometime in the second
snooze.

I am not spinning the knob when I snooze it (i.e. I am definitely
snoozing when I push the button), I have the radio alarm set to timeout
after 1 hour.

Any thoughts on why it might be doing this? I watched it this morning
do it, and I was fully awake, so I can't blame it on a sleepy mind.

Player Model: Squeezebox Radio, Firmware: 7.7.1-r9557
Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.1 - r33735 @ Mon Nov 28 15:45:08 PST
2011

Thanks,

TomS
