Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Unable to parse ASF audio error
Thank you Garym. LMS is what used to be called Squeezebox server, right? I have never used that method because I didn't want to leave my PC running. I believe I'm just interfacing with the MySqueezebox.com website, which has always worked for all the applications I use. Do you recommend running LMS? re Phil Hendrie, it's still really enjoyable in small doses, but not the same as in the days of unsuspecting callers. ---- frb63's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36148 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103828 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

It doesn't work on Squeezebox. Has anyone identified a link that works as the RSS feed when copied into Squeezebox's podcast app? Is it not working on TuneIn because they use the same kind of faulty RSS feed? If so, should my question be directed to the Phil Hendrie program itself? [SlimDevices: Radio] Unable to parse ASF audio error
Hi all - I've cross-posted this question on the Logitech forum, so forgive the redundancy: I've been listening to the Phil Hendrie podcast on Squeezebox radio for years with no problem, but about a month ago it began failing consistently with the above error message. I use the podcast utility on MySqueezebox.com with the following URL copied in: http://feeds.feedburner.com/theworldofphilhendriepodcast I've also tried a few variations of that, but nothing works. I can't say for sure if this is the same RSS feed that worked previously. Finally, I've also noted that the Phil Hendrie podcast has stopped working in the TuneIn app as well. Can anyone help with this issue? Certainly not for the sound. Although the alarm is indeed a minor feature within the SB line as a whole, I would argue it's the PRIMARY distinguishing feature of the radio. I'm not a programmer, but doesn't basic diagnostic logic suggest that you go looking for the problem in code that changed between 7.4 and 7.5? Honestly, if were me, I would start over with version 7.4.2, then (carefully) try to build from scratch whatever new functionality was introduced in 7.5 - TESTING ALL THE WAY. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Auto-dimmer
Time to revisit this issue. I have researched some of the brightness discussion during the 7.5.0 development, but can't find where a decision was made regarding the proposed 30% brightness increase when a control is touched. 7.5.1 does not fix this defect. I can't imagine they would intentionally disable this feature. Wouldn't one assume that the average user wants a display that is dim while sleeping but temporarily bright while operating? Anyone else totally frustrated by this??? Any developers monitoring? please comment. Still digesting the other 7.5.1 fixes. Thank you Brucegrr, Erland, Bluegaspode, PeterW and MPower for injecting the right blend of understanding and pragmatism into this discussion. There's no question Logitech has screwed up this product, and there's equally no question that ad nauseum complaining won't help them fix it any faster. IPhone and EAP: I hope someday you buy a product outside your area of expertise, based purely on marketing promises - maybe a car, or a vacuum cleaner - and it fails to perform its basic functions. [SlimDevices: Radio] Auto-dimmer
I have now successfully rolled back to FW 7.4.1 after installing squeezebox server (thanks for the help, Toby!). The internet streams are MUCH more stable, though there is still an occasional drop-out within the first 30 seconds of play. The alarm is still buggy - comes on then stops almost immediately, but thankfully it no longer goes to that busy disco loop. Here's an issue I haven't seen mentioned: under 7.4, the auto-dimmer works perfectly in a dark room, but the display also lights back up slightly when you use the controls (i.e. change the station, set the sleep function, etc). Then about 30 seconds after your last adjustment it dims again. This was an EXTREMELY useful feature. Under 7.5, once the screen dims it stays dim and you really can't see what you're doing. I have literally had to turn a lamp back on in the room just to operate the radio. Has anyone else noticed this loss of functionality? -- frb63 ---- frb63's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36148 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78788 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

[SlimDevices: Radio] Mediafly podcast sequence
I wonder if anyone else shares this problem: I have the Mediafly News & Politics channel saved as a preset. The newest podcasts appear at the top of the list; some of them such as CNN news are updated multiple times per day. Until quite recently (probably the 7.5 firmware but I can't be sure), I would touch the preset and it would start playing from the top of the list. This way I could instantly get the latest news update. Now it begins playing on the podcast following the one I last streamed, which might be well down the list and therefore older.
