Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Best options for Radio streams
In general, aac and mp3 (and even flac) can support icy metadata in the stream, where the server indicate that every N bytes sent, a potential metadata update can be found, with the stream artist, title/album and very rarely the artwork url. Most players dont support the artwork url, unfortunately. This icymetadata interval of N bytes is above and independent of underlying codec. [SlimDevices: Radio] Power Supply options
Hi - I know that the Logitech spec is 18V 1A, but does anybody know if a 15V or a 24V is acceptable? Reason is that Phihong, who was making the most convenient *exact* replacement has discontinued the 18V version. The battery pack is 12V, so even w/o DC/DC, is this is 10*1.2V NiMH charged at 1.4V each, a 15V could do the job ... but I have no idea of the schematic and how the charger is made. If this is linear or flyback/SEPIC charger, the Vcc requests are different, of course. I can find 18V PSU for sure, I just would prefer to buy Phihong. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Disconnection after 10 mins
Symptoms look really the same but I've not cloned the servers - one is on Windows and the other one on a raspi. What ultimately do you think caused the confusion for the radio? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Disconnection after 10 mins
Really weird: I switched one of the radio to another LMS server, on the same network. No reboot involved, no IP change. With that, both Radio stayed connected. I switched that radio back to the same LMS server and they both got disconnected after 10mins. I tried to switch one off and the other would then stay connected (would work whatever is the one powered off). Was late in the day, so I let one off. The morning after, I decided to do better log review and I switched back on the off radio ... and now they both have been working fine for more than one day. [SlimDevices: Radio] Disconnection after 10 mins
Hi - Two of my radios started to show the same problem at the almost the same time two weeks ago: they lose network connection approx 10 mins after reboot. Icon gets red and they stop answering to ping. The radio UI becomes very unresponsive (choppy, almost unusable) and the only option is a long press of power button. I've done the usual restart of ALL my networking gears (which BTW have not changed in HW or config), I've factory reset the radio ... nothing helped. There is no IP conflict. All my other SB work fine (boom, duet, classic, touch). I've not yet looked at more LMS logs and wireshark traces, but that will be next thing I'll do. Meanwhile, as I was surprised by this very unresponsive UI symptom, I was wondering if anybody have seen that before Thanks LMS 7.7.5 - 5xRadio, 3xBoom, 4xDuet, 1xTouch, 1 SB2. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Is anybody else sticking with Squeezebox solely because of the Radios?
I have Sonos and squeezeboxes and I ended up using more the squeezeboxes. Sonos sounds better, sure but the controller and UI is, imho not at the level of LMS + iPeng. I like the radio for their display as bedclocks and the boom for the sound (I modified my booms so they have built-in batteries, something I could not do with Sonos). A chromecast audio is more to help this community rather than for my own use, hence I'm trying to understand other developers objectives. Having said that, I'm still trying to properly understand the working model/protocol of such chromecast audio devices. Seems to me, reading that example and what you wrote in other threads, that I don't need to touch anything on the device itself, no need to write a receiver app, the default one is all I want. The controls (start/stop ...) seems to be very simple, although I'm still not very clear what the device expects from the server to retrieve the audio stream/data. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Listening to US radios while in Europe ? Hiding IP.
One option is to establish an SSH tunnel between your computer in France and a friend's computer in the US. It is a general technique for appearing local. You can then decide to have a local squeezecenter running in France and to proxify its internet access to go through the tunnel. Another option (I'm using this one) is to have the squeezecenter in the US and create in France 2 port redirection 9000 and 3483 on a fake squeezeserver to the real server in the US - this second option means that all the music streaming travels through the tunnel, this is probably not what you want, but I'm using it because I want to access the exact same library from my 2nd home even when I'm away -- philippe_44 philippe_44's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17261 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85219 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
