How disappointing - two days after my last post the SB radio shows
similar problems again. Although the nil issue didn`t happen again so
far, the connection to mysquezebox.com was interrupted several times.
Annoying...

Well, my radio seems to work again. i hope i promise not too much - but
today the device played music the whole day without any problems.
Hopefully logitech fixed the server-issue at last. but even if the guys
did so - the next problem is coming soon, that´s for sure. Cause it´s
not a trick - it´s a logitech :-/

i'm in spain and suffering the same problem.

i was away for a few weeks and when i returned a few days back my radio
updated to the latest version SW. after a day of weird behaviour it will
not even switch on, just gets stuck in an interminable loop at Free

Ironic.

But annoying and pathetic. My Touch did the same thing but starts, then
behaves oddly.

Come on Logitech, lift your game.

Thank you for the information.
Hope it's true, but I wonder why this issue appears exactly with 7.6.1
!
Does 7.6.1 use mor mysb.com ???
Is it just a accident ? Or is there a link beetween 7.6.1 and mysb.com
?

What is very disapointed, is the lack of information, we can only wait
and hope... We have no official explanations.

Thanks! That's the best information we've seen about this problem so
far.

Interesting choice of words, adapted. Logitech are using Amazon's EC2
virtual hosting for this service. I thought one major selling point of
this was that it's very easy, simple and quick to add extra capacity.
End of the week? Setting easy targets or wot?

Still I suppose it means the service is getting more popular...

here is the logitech forum. And a call to support to log the problem

I sympathise with users who turn up here 'whining' - it's no wonder they
do given the useless level of support given by Logitech Support
Specialists - the latest which this user received was the old
'chestnut' of reboot router, use fixed ip, and check wireless strength.
When others pointed out to the Specialist that the issue has been
ongoing for days and experienced by many others, they posted that they
were not going to help any more. What sort of support is that?

My report vvia the official problem report route has simply disappeared
into the dark hole that Logitech support operates.

newbies and non-geeks are unaware that this is not an official forum.

That's why I occasionally remind people that this is not an official
forum (and even give them links to the official forum). I'm not a geek
either (nothing about my day job has ever had anything to do with
computers or technology). But I've been lucky in my SB universe as
things just work. This said, I understand there are problems and there
are folks around here that try to help. But we need specific data to
narrow things down. This junk doesn't work doesn't provide any data.

p.s. the old chestnuts of reboot router, used fixed IP, and/or check
wifi strength have solved hundreds of users' problems in the time I've
been hanging out here.

I do think there is something going on with Mac users and maybe lion,
although I've seen a few posts from such users today reporting that all
is working fine with 7.6.1. But without folks reporting specifics, it
is hard for someone to help by noticing what the difference is between
the users having problems and the users experiencing no problems.
That's my point.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio down again.

2011-08-30 Thread Triskel2

In am in Italy (not my fault, and I HATE Berlusconi).

My system:
AMD Athlon 64x2 4200+
Windows XP Pro SP 3
2 Gb RAM
2 routers (Zyxel NBG-460N and Netgear DG834GT)
Connection ADSL 2+ (20 Mbps, 500 feet from the central)
Squeezebox Radio (latest FW)
Squeezebox Boom (latest FW).

My problem of the day (today, one hour ago and before, randomly):
Radio and Boom disconnected, then reconnected, then were playing but
the screen was saying impossible to connect, then disconnect, then
reconnect but the menus were incomplete and changhing at every
restart.
Same strange behaviour for Squeezebox.com on the net via my PCs (three
different, wired and wireless).

I've tried to:
reconnect, restart and power-recycle the Boom, the Radio and the
routers; connect Radio and Boom to my 2 different WLAN, then to LAN.

Results: bizarre and variable behaviour.

Now: everything restarted and is working fine (the web page too).

Help and suggestion required.
Thanks.

All the best.

I love Italy (was there in May and have visited many times). But back
to your issue. A couple of things. I assume you're using 7.6.1 official
version? Also, you have two routers, so I assume you have DHCP turned
OFF on one of them (having two different routers BOTH handing out IP
addresses can wreak havoc!). If both the above are true, it may very
well be that your problem truly is simply the flaky European mysb.com
servers.

I don't think most people really expect 'help' as such - they really
just need confirmation that there is a problem outside their remit.
It's been obvious since yesterday that this is Logitech specific
problem.

Why they run a support forum which is so US-centric given they're a
global outfit is beyond me - to the extent that their own Support
Specialists say it's not a problem in the US ...

ps: where is the quote button???!!!

I only got some response by badgering them ... not something I really

I don't think most people really expect 'help' as such - they really

It's been obvious since yesterday that this is Logitech specific

Why they run a support forum which is so US-centric given they're a

lower right hand side of message window has a quote button. Yes, I
agree completely that it is often the lack of transparent, truthful
information that is a bigger problem than the problem itself. I have
the same complaints at airports when travel is all messed up. It seems
they rarely just tell us what the real issue is. They'd rather limp
along giving us only bits and pieces of info.

For example, if Europe's mysb.com servers are acting up, they should
simply post on their website forums (at least) that Some European
mysb.com servers are down. We are working on the problem and will post
again when we have resolved. At least people will know that the
problem is not their own setup. When my cable TV goes out I like the
fact that if I call the help #, they can tell me that the cable is down
in my area. Then I relax. Not my specific problem and move on to a book
or something. But if they say, we don't know of any outages in your
area then I'm bothered with checking connections, testing different
TVs, etc. etc. All a pain, simply because I don't have good info.

Long answer, but yes, I agree with your point completely.

It works for me ? I've rarely experienced these elusive breakdowns
myself.

I've been listening to shoutcast via mysb.com on my SqueezePad, I'm not
home so I have not conected any real squeezebox, just my iPad.

So it has gremlins, seems to depend on country isp moonphases ?

I suspects, the simplest answer, server load . evenings weekends and
holidays and upgrade time , then it seems to drop people ?

DNS issues further up in the net isp and above, not at the end user
? It has occured in the past.

wonder if upgrades are done in some stagered way or if just everyone
downloads the player upgrade simultainsly ?

Unfortunately, I've found that the corporate idea of support is to send
me an email with a survey on tell us how we did but to never actually
provide much support. When things work automatically everything is
great. But once I have problems with my IT support at work, AC/Heat
unit repair, my utilities, my phone, my cable, my paycheck (HR), or
anything else that requires human intervention, I'm usually doomed.

i suspect that they are soo understaffed so that no one is overseing
the server 24/7 at really bad outakes like around xmas and such, our
devs have been writing something here a couple of days after the fact ?
?

i thougth modern systems could sms or email the persson having the
watch in case of failure15 minutes later a twitter message should be
out 30 minutes later a short note on both forums ?

The lack of fast info is a bigg problem , many users seems to push to
many buttons while this happens and actually wrecks thier setup , while
just let it be and wait may have been better ?

2011-08-29 Thread abyrvalg

I am sick as a dog of Logitech and it's stupid bugs. I have sold 2 of my
Duets because I had enough, and kept Radio for a bedroom, but after the
last update it is simply going crazy. Every day, sometimes several
times a day:

1. It loses it's name, becomes nil
2. It loses all the menu, except 2 items - my music and setting.
Everything else is gone.
3. It loses presets.

Rebooting Radio does help sometimes, but sometimes it does not. Last FW
version was more or less stable (if you forget about nil from time to
time), but now this is simply over the roof. I would happily get rid of
this junk, but I am a paid subscriber to one station and I don't see an
alternative hardware radio that correctly plays with it.

GRR.

Welcome to the club! Same problems observed. I guess the programmers are
back from summer holiday or something...

One remark: This time it's not only the radio, it is also the
www.mysqueezebox.com server that is falling apart again and again.
Everytime the server drops out, we have no preselected stations and no
radio streaming.

I guess we are in for a few weeks of beta testing, just like the other
times. I wish they would debug their stuff on a closed circuit, rather
than downing all their customers.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio down again.

2011-08-28 Thread uffe

Are we again getting a period with downtime? The last couple of days I
had several dropouts (and also uploads of new software versions). Today
also the mysqueezebox site had dropped out (504 Gateway Time-out
nginx/0.7.67).

Is there again a long period of debugging ahead?

Last time I saw that, it took a long time to get a stable service
back...

comes in periods, around software updates to the radio and to the
