Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Now it stopped working altogether (German data center of MYSB is done for?)
I kinda gave up reporting each time the radio shows the blue icon and needs a reboot to find MYSB again. Hard to tell if this is only caused by the totally buggy radio software or if the server still has issues. Probably both. I'm SO tired of this and the other issues. I beginning to wonder if this brand will survive this disaster for another few months. The classic SB is canceled, the release date for the Touch is completely uncertain and with it the release of a new software is delayed again and again. Anyway, the Radio is still exactly as buggy as in October 2009 when I bought it. If somebody told me at this time that I would have to mess with the same alpha software in February, for sure I would have considered other options. Now really, if the Touch shifts into April or even summer, they should at least release a 7.4.2 software to fix the worst Radio bugs ASAP. There are so many internet radios on the market in the meantime and while they might suck in other aspects, at least the basic functionality is working. -- 0xdeadbeef 0xdeadbeef's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2287 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71964 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

hey guys! sorry, i am newbie with that squeezebox stuff and I have a problem (maybe related to the connection problems (I am in germany), sorry if its the wrong thread). I got a SBR and was using my local squeezebox server in the past. But now I have to shutdown my local SBS from time to time and have to switch to mysqueezebox.com but it doesnt work (or I dont know how to do it). What I tried: Settings-Advanced-Networks-Switch to mysqueezebox.com But nothing happens and I dont know why. I also tried what was said in this thread (to switch /etc/hosts so that it points to the US server). Diagnostics in SBR shows me the US-IP now so that seems to have worked. But still nothing happens when clicking switch to mysqueezebox.com. Can it be a problem with the mysqueezebox account data? I didnt know anymore if I entered them in the SBR when setting in up but I know that I entered them in my local SBS (if that does even matter). Can I somewhere see if SBR fails to login due to wrong account data? Or any other ideas? Do this at your own risk. If anything is not working do a factory reset (pressing '+' while booting). On Windows do the following: - Download and install WinSCP (http://winscp.net) - On your Controller/Radio go to Settings-Advanced-Remote Login , enable it and write down the IP adress given there - Start WinSCP, enter the IP adress under 'Host Name', as username take 'root', as password take '1234', as file protocoll take 'SCP', press 'login'. You will get some messages, also one error message (just click it away), when everything work you will be connected to your radio/controller. - On the right side of the window you see the files on your radio/controller. You will be in /root so go one level up and navigate to /etc and double-click the 'hosts'-file. - add some lines so that it looks like the following for a US server. Code: 127.0.0.1 localhost 66.150.114.115 jive.squeezenetwork.com 66.150.114.115 baby.squeezenetwork.com Close the file and wait a short moment as it gets uploaded to your radio/controller (you will see a progress in the lower part of WinSCP) - reboot your radio/controller (long press on the power button) - if you go to Settings-Advanced-Diagnostics you should see the new IP adress I don't know if that is all that is needed but possibly worth a try. If it isn't working make sure to remove the lines you added. I'm quite pleased with my Squeezebox radio when it's WORKING, but under peak hour's the radio is totally useless. How can you be so stupid that you create a product that has the limitation that it has to connect to a server before activating all functions. Why in hell didn't they just saved the presents and the favourites locally on the unite, so it was independent on their servers capacity. The solution they have picked is totally rubbish. The best thing would be if all people who has bought a unite would return it back, because this is not acceptable. Hi, Same here. Woke up this morning and can't connect to mysqueezebox.com. My good old Slimdevices SB3 is fine and connects no probs to squeezenetwork. I can play my mp3 collection on the SBRadio from squeezebox server 7.4.1 running on a local Fedora 12 box. I can also SSH into the SBRadio. I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with my local network settings and/or my ISP's service - all IP addresses (public and private) have not changed and connectivity locally and to the internet is fine. If I select Switch to mysqueezebox.com from the home menu I get the usual feedback bleep but nothing happens. If I attempt to select My Apps from te home menu I get a MYSQUEEZENETWORK_NO_LOGIN screen. I've also tried a power down reset (power cable out and back in) but no joy. Same problem here using Duet (UK) - can't even connect to local server using the controller. Whatever is happening, you (Logitech) need to do something quickly to fix these problems. Users really will start deserting if not able to get consistant reliable service from their Squeezeboxes!!! Out of curiousity can you guys force your Radio's to connect to a different mysqueezebox.com server (say the US one?). Maybe Logitech blocks that? I was imagining either editing the /etc/hosts file on the radio itself (I haven't check if that's viable) or configuring the hostname mapping on your router if you have a router with such a feature (e.g. one running DNSMASQ). For me mysqueezebox.com resolves to 66.151.159.227. Geobytes.com thinks that's in San Jose, CA (which sounds reasonable). They cite the previously mentioned address of 89.202.121.131 as coming from Berlin. -Jeff -- jdoering jdoering's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71964 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Something like that, yes. Apparently the name servers guess from your IP address where you're located and resolve www.mysqueezebox.com / baby.mysqueezebox.com to different targets depending on that. And sv = Silicon Valley makes sense indeed, I was already wondering what it stands for. :) (As a side note, the DNS not only recognizes baby.mysqueezebox.com, but also jive.mysqueezebox.com and fab4.mysqueezebox.com, with the latter still being redirected to the test server for now. Hm, I needed two further factory resets to finally get back to what it was before. Selecting switch to mysqueezebox.com simply wouldn't work even after shutting down my local squeezebox server. Just a beep, no error message. Diagnostic screen menu showed I was connect to MYSB and registered. Still all the menu items were missing and MYSB functionality was absent. If the local server was up, the Radio connected to it without giving me any chance to switch to MYSB. The according menu items were either missing or simply refused to work. Only after the 2nd factory reset, a new menu item popped up in the select player dialog which finally allowed me to switch to MYSB again. Sadly, I am experiencing the same. After only owning a Squeezebox Radio for a couple of days this is not a very good start. Would it be so hard to make a device that is not so unnecessarily dependent on some web service to be operative? If a radio stream goes offline, we can switch to another. It's different when a missing connection to a server bricks your whole radio. Nowhere it said a *constant* connection to mysb.com was required for the radio to be of any use, just a working internet connection.
