Odd, my experience is exactly the opposite. Connected to MySB.com my ShoutCast Genres and Most Popular are working fine. Using a Touch i get error Userdata 0x67baf0 when choosing genre or Random 100 Tested on 2 different Touches on two different networks at two different locations. I'm on a local slimserver version 7.3.3. Shoutbox is not showing up. Neither in Web UI nor in transporter's display with remote. How can i get back shoutcast? Btw. I know its not the current release. Yeah, seems hit miss, my Genre's and subs are all working fine. My bitrate limit is set at 128k. But some of the menu items do give the userdata error. Andy, there is a Home Menu loop using ShoutCast By Bitrate 320 (or any bitrate) EDIT: Sorry, takes you back to My Apps, not Home Menu result is userdata:0x6779c0 with an arrow to the right. If I select this it takes me to My Apps on the Touch. You need a bug filed? Or is this just normal first implementation issues which will go away? Sometimes I am offered results, sometimes the error. Any chance my bitrate limit set to 128k is confusing the Choose Bitrate option? I would randomly get zero results within a Genre when I just selected a stream from that Genre 3 minutes ago, so it would say those 77 streams I was just offered within that Genre are now all gone 3 minutes later (zero results). I have no experience with IceCast but it looks like IceCast has a lot fewer offerings than does ShoutCast. IceCast lists 7,900 streams whereas ShoutCast claims 44,000 streams. Anyone know what the difference in offerings are? Maybe IceCast has no duplicates? Just curious. The Blame game continues, from ShoutCast forums. I want to address the Logitec issue directly. Logitec was alerted of the impending change to the SHOUTcast API as far back as late 2009 and early 2010. After discussions with them, Logitec chose to not move ahead with the API migration. You will have to ask Logitec why they chose not to do so. So at this time we are busy migrating current licensed partners to the new API, and are also working with Logitec to become a licensed partner if they chose to do so. IMO both parties are at fault. Logitech was getting away without being an official ShoutCast partner for many years. Kind of like getting cable TV ch's you are not paying for. The right thing to do is call the provider and tell them of their mistake, but would you? ShoutCast was well aware of Logitech using their service and never stopped them, until now. ShoutCast has a recent API change to add new benefits to their service. They are likely quite busy helping their long term partners through this API upgrade, hence why they are not accepting any new partners at the moment. Shame on Logitech if they were informed by ShoutCast of this pending eviction and did nothing. Shame on ShoutCast if they did not inform Logitech of this issue and just locked the door. Who knows where the truth lies and I'd bet there is some history between them that we are not being told about. Without knowing the inside story it sure seems like both parties are at fault, at minimum fault of simple lack of communication. For me the real shame in this is Logitech's long time official partner RadioTime not stepping up to the plate to help fill the void. Most streams on ShoutCast are also available via RadioTime. But god help you in finding those streams within RadioTime's menu's on SB players, particularly if one is searching by Genre (which I think is what most of the vocal ShoutCast users really miss). If RadioTime could implement some filtering via SB players we would not even need ShoutCast. 1. bitrate filter (was on ShoutCast) 2. sort filter (alpha or by highest bitrate, was also on ShoutCast) 3. filter out AM/FM stations (I have zero interest in such garbage, ShoutCast had very few of these) I'd be happy with #1, I'd be thrilled with #1 and #2, give me all three and I'd personally send RadioTime several dozen roses with a personal Thank You card. :) If RadioTime *really* wants more listeners through it's service here is your chance to pick up the many unhappy ShoutCast listeners on SB players. So this is why shoutcast no longer works. Just great. I'm not blaming Squeezebox at all here. Once upon a time shoutcast was a beacon of freedom on the net. Now, I go there and I can't even get an external player to come up..I just get a crappy flash player. This is not acceptable. Maybe xiph.org's Icecast directory is the way to go. Look, I'm not happy about what's going on but I will point out there is currently a huge tug-of-war going between software/hardware developers and content providers. It's happening across the board in most media formats---radio, tv, music, and movies. It is going to take a while before all this stuff is sorted out and whilst it's perhaps a bit satisfying to give voice to one's feelings and opinions, the likelihood is that it's not going to change much of what's going on. Posts like Nathkrul's really aren't productive and do nothing except feed his own trollishness and maybe incite a few others to do the same. The Googles, Hulus, Comcasts, and, yes, Logitechs, etc. of the world are going to be the ones setting the new paradigms. Hopefully they'll keep the interests of their customers at the fore during this process, but probably the best and only thing we can reaonably hope to do is sit back, have a beer, observe carefully (so you don't buy a Beta instead of Vhs), and see what's going to eventually shake out over the next year or two. It seems like there is no way of removing the shoutcast icon at the moment. Is there going to be a way of removing it in the future, or do I need to do a factory reset to get rid of it? It seems silly that you can only remove an app if it is still available. Rather than using the Shoutcast directory on your SB, if you know the direct URL to a station, you can use the SB web interface to enter that URL directly. For those that want to email ShoutCast as a listener that misses ShoutCast on their SqueezeBox player go to http://www.shoutcast.com/, then click Send Feedback. Not sure this will do much, but it's worth 30 seconds to send them a note as a SqueezeBox user. Future alternatives Andy? Anything is better than nothing. :) IceCast? IheartRadio? LiquidCompass? I am not familiar with any of these so I do not know how they compare to ShoutCast. What I really liked about ShoutCast on a SqueezeBox were four main things: 1. Large selection of stations 2. Deep genre separation, they have over 300 genres 3. Most stations ere internet only, *NOT* rebroadcasts of terrestrial AM/FM (we have RadioTime for those) 4. Groove Salad is available on SB's via the Soma or RadioTime Apps, plus in the basic Internet Radio menu (which is also RadioTime). Andy, How do we get rid of the ShoutCast menu item on our players? It is no longer in My Apps on MySB.com so I cannot uninstall it. As crazy as it sounds, maybe you could put the ShoutCast App back up so we can uninstall it? Maybe a note on the App no longer works, only here to uninstall from players? And no Install function within the App? Dunno, just bugs me to keep scrolling past ShoutCast on my players. Seems one uninstalls apps by going to the app in the App Gallery - if the have the app in ''my apps'' then the entry for that app in ''app gallery' offers uninstall action instead of install Sounds... awkward? I have a Duet and my Shoutcast is giving Unable to parse SHOUTcast data and my Accuradio gives: There was an error loading the remote feed for AccuRadio: (500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR) All other internet apps and services work fine. Yes, I have exactly the same problem. I appeared to solve it by reinstalling the last software update but now today shoutcast gives the same 'unaabale to parse date' error message.
