And while not mentioned in the repairs, the BB shell appears incorrect. Still and all, it might build up nicely. Rambouillet, Road, Homer, Roadeo, Bleriot, etc. My '95 Road Standard is a 56 measured center to top (about 54 center to center), and has a 57 top tube. This frame is maybe 2 cm smaller, the head lugs nearly touch and there's no room for a pump peg, so I'd say 54 center to top. My head tube is 14 cm, but the one in the listing lacks the extension above the upper head lug, so an 11 cm head tube adds up. It has enough headset spacers to make up for the missing extension. If the top tube is really 57, it may have been a custom geometry. Or it got changed when the frame was rebuilt. I think it's unlikely that the replacement front end has the original 753 tubing. Riv's 753 tubes were drawn to Grant's specifications with thicker walls and longer butts than a standard 753 set, and by 2003 even standard 753 was obsolete. It could have 853 tubes, or True Temper. Fork blades, probably whatever Waterford was using at the time, probably not 531. At least it still has the pretty lugs and head badge. Picky detail - note that in picture 21, the Simplex binder bolt is not installed correctly. The flats should be vertical, so the nut sits fully inside the lug. But fundamentally I can get at it, even without removing the BarSack. I have to peel back the top and approach the contents from an angle. (Peeling back the top may be more tedious with the Li'l Loafer, as its top peels toward the head tube.) With a 52cm Hillborne and a slammed stem, I'm doubt it'd work at all. Manny, Beautiful simple wisdom, thank you. I have already done some epic rides this warm season including Ride the Rockies up and down high lovely passes, miles of dirt roads and bike trails, lovely canyons. It was great. Still my favorite ride of the year so far was with my granddaughter Kiana. http://www.flickr.com/photos/79695460@N00/7432627324/in/photostream/ She has been a bicycle riding fanatic this summer. [RBW] Re: WTB: Rivendell road-style bike for 82 PBH. Rambouillet, Road, Homer, Roadeo, Bleriot, etc.
I'm also an 82 cm PBH and I ride a 56 Ram, the fit is spot on. I paid 1200 through Craigslist for the full bike 3 years ago, it had a couple of good sized nicks and needed tires, it had about 3000 miles on it when I bought it. The grease was pretty shot and i ended up paying my lbs for an overhaul too, so the entry price has stacked up some. Regarding the Romulus, it might be a tad high in this economy but expect to pay more through an LBS than a private seller would ask for. I've picked up a few pairs of Ibex Duo shorts on Ebay and used a thread puller from the sewing chest to remove the pads. Joneswares cycling shorts come without a chamois unless you specify adding one, but they seem to be taking a Rambouillet like nap at present. [RBW] seeking mixed terrain ride reports near olympia, rainier, gifford pinchot, hood, deschutes, crater lake, and klamath
Finished a contract, and it's time to leave town. Why not for a few weeks? I've thrown together the following very rough route, passing through all the parks mentioned above and otherwise... If you have any recommendations or blogs/reports that give good routes around this area, might you pass them on to me? If you live near some of these places, and would like to join, please let me know. I'm hoping for 60-100 mile days, and I like to stop and smell the proverbial roses. [RBW] Re: [650B] ISO: lycra shorts without the diaper pad...
Boure Bicycle Clothing - it's been quite a few years since I last purchased shorts from them but the padding is very thin, exactly what you're describing. I might have the least expensive of their shorts offerings. They are also terrific on customer service and very responsive on the phone. www.boure.com 1-888-889-9242JoanOn 06/24/12, Bruce Herbitterbruce.herbit...@gmail.com wrote:I've picked up a few pairs of Ibex Duo shorts on Ebay and used a thread puller from the sewing chest to remove the pads. The latest avenue I've been on has been the tri shorts direction. Since they are intended for running and swimming as well as cycling the padding is smaller, thinner and more breathable. Still not quite the old school favorite but the closest I've found so far. Re: [RBW] Re: The Poster
Such serendipity! Not wanting to spoil the surprise, I never looked at the artist's site. When the poster arrived, the style looked familiar, so I looked more closely at a poster my wife has had since before our marriage--a poster of Cafe Chez Panisse from the same artist. Needless to say it made talking her into letting my hang it in the living room an easier job!
