Edwin,
I used to want a Fr8 so badly! I spoke with J.C. Lind in Chicago several
times about the WorkCycles line, which they carry. (Also the Pilen Lyx
which I really like.)

WorkCycles also makes the Gr8 ... essentially a lighter weight version of
the Fr8. Workcycles makes awesome bikes!

I tried the Billie bar on Saturday on the Atlantis demo. They have bring your
hands back like the Bosco without the huge rise. Vince brought out the
Albatross bars to compare.Just eyeballing them I would say that they bring the
grips closer to you two inches mote than the Albatross. Bosco are 9 inches
reach so Billie bar might be 8.81 inches? Again not precise measurements. They
have the Billie bars on a 55 Appaloosa but it doesn't have a saddle yet. Go try
them. I wanted to ask if I could buy a sample of the bars but didn't know if it
was appropriate to ask. Better just to be patient.

2018-03-04 Thread Jeremy Tavan
It's good. I've ridden cargo bikes/cycletrucks with frame-integrated racks
that don't move with steerering, and that's how the Brompton works as well.
It means you don't fight the moment of the load while steering, so steering
is lighter and less floppy than it would be otherwise. The next bike I set
up for heavy front loads will definitely be done this way.

Okay Keven it's your last day today and I know you lurk here on this
group. I'll say again in front of the whole list-serv what I wrote to you
off-list:

Even though it is sporadic, I consider you one of my true Riv friends. You
have influenced me and my family and our stable of bikes. The Riv Chica
Warrior custom would no be the magnificent bike that it is without your
creativity, experience, and gentle "push Grant; he can do it" nudge about
55 tires. I also can see you dropping gracefully, like a gull nonchalantly
off a cliff, down the top of the peak where we did our S24O and then making
me a beautiful espresso at RivHQ when we got back.

I hope your next adventure is fabulous. Maybe it's in the Outer Sunset and
I can still visit you in SF when I travel there, which is frequent. And if
you find yourself (and your family) in Minneapolis, you gotta a place to
stay.

with love,
RCW, MD

PS Hope your last official Riv HQ day is filled with love and libation.

I mean where do you begin? If you look up the definition of customer
service there he is. He set the bar on knowledge, patience and sheer
kindness. Even though he couldn't talk me out of a custom paint on my
Hilsen, he surely talked me off a cliff a few times with his common sense
approach. When the wife and I traveled to Riv Hq in 2012 he put us at ease.
When I heard Keven was leaving I had two competing emotions, complete and
utter sadness and joy that he would be closer to his family. I know that
whatever he touches in the next chapter of work will be golden because
that's the sort of guy he is. For me Rivendell will never be the same and
that shine above Riv Hq will be just a tad dimmer. All the best to you
Keven.

[RBW] Re: Keven

2015-10-20 Thread Dennis Hogan
+1 on Keven - he is very chill. I last interacted with him on a visit to
BB&H a couple weekends ago. He helped me conceptualize a new cockpit for my
Homer based on a test ride on a Hunquapillar that Roman had set up for me.
And he gave me a BB&H pin when I said that I got the last free Rivelo patch
from John for being the 10th visitor to the new store in Portland.

I first met Keven when I picked up my first and only riv - a AHH - in Oct
of 2010. It was a 65cm and apparenty he was the only one long enought to
ride and configure it for me.

I was in a similar place many years ago with two young kids and needing a
different work context - it was a tough choice but one that worked out.
Hope it does for Keven as well.

Keven was my 1st contact at RBW world Hqs. He guided me on my Ram purchase, and
over 12,000 miles later, I haven't found him to have been wrong. Nice guy, and

2015-10-20 Thread Edwin W
As many of you Riv-obsessed folks know, one of the most important things
about a good visit to Riv is that your partner enjoys it. Keven whipped up
some espresso for my wife when we visited and she left with a better taste
of Riv, literally and figuratively. Not that she wants me to buy as many
bikes as I would like, but a better taste, for sure!

Thanks for that, Keven,

Keven was very quick to reply to emails, easy going, and provided all
around great customer service throughout my many visits and phone calls to
Rivendell. He was especially super patient while I pestered about the
status of my Hunqapillar order over the eternal 3 month wait on the frame,
as well as during a later Cheviot build. I just looked at his profile on
the staff directory and can't believe he's been there since 2005, that's a
long run to work anywhere in this day it seems. Good luck!
