Re: [Repeater-Builder] Micor Compa Exciter/PA

2005-02-04 Thread Neil McKie

According to my Micor manual, the TLD5953A PA Board is installed
in the TLD1693E Contunuous Duty Power Amplifier on the 150.8 - 162
 MHz frequency range.

Is this what you are looking for?

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Micor Compa Exciter/PA

2005-02-04 Thread Eric Lemmon

Scott,

I believe that your PA is a TLD1683, 100 watt intermittent duty unit for
the 150.8-162 MHz band. It should have the TFD6112A Exciter Filter and
the TFD6102A Harmonic Filter, both of which are designed for the
150.8-174 MHz band.

If you intend to operate this station in the 2m band, you'll need the
TLD1682 PA, which comprises the TLD5952 PA Board, the TFD6111A Exciter
Filter, and the TFD6101A Harmonic Filter. The filters are designed to
pass the 132-150.8 MHz band.

While it is possible to modify the filters to work properly on 2m, it
takes a lot of time, money, and effort to modify the PA board for the
low split. Some dedicated individuals have gone this route, but most
vow they'll never do it again. Instructions for tuning the filters are
available in the Repeater-Builder site.

There is very little difference between the intermittent and continuous
duty PAs, other than the heat sink and a thermistor. The
intermittent-duty PAs are rated for a 20% duty cycle- one minute on and
four minutes off. It probably could run 100% with forced air cooling.
The thermistor, which cuts back power when the PA gets hot, is not used
in continuous duty PAs.

I know this isn't the 100% duty cycle configuration, but can it be run
at 100% if it has constant forced air cooling across the fins? Also,
the board appears to be the same for the 100 watt 100% configuration.
Is it possible to simply replant this board in the larger chassis/heat
sink? Assuming for a moment that I could find a dead one.

[Repeater-Builder] Micor Compa Exciter/PA

2005-02-04 Thread wn1b8

I recently picked up a Micor Compa-Station exciter/PA. I know its
for 132-174 MHz. and I believe it to be a 100 watt PA deck, but I
can't seem to find what the duty cycle is. The PA board part number
is TLD5953A1093R. It has the 14 1/2" long Micor fins across the top
of the module. The module, with the fins, is 6" high.

I know this isn't the 100% duty cycle configuration, but can it be
run at 100% if it has constant forced air cooling across the fins?
Also, the board appears to be the same for the 100 watt 100%

larger chassis/heat sink? Assuming for a moment that I could find a
dead one.

Any help and/or advice will be greatly appreciated.

[Repeater-Builder] DB-408

2005-02-04 Thread tgundo2003

Hi All!

I am in the process of buying and selling a home and the move that
will go along with it, so I am trying to eliminate anything I don't
need to move.

I have a brand new still in the box Decibel Products DB-408 for 450-
470. The box was opened so I could admire its shinyness :) and the
next day I recieved a gift of a DB-420. Always a day late. Im using
the 420 so the 408 is collecting dust.

Please contact me off the list if anyone is intrested.

Thanks!

[Repeater-Builder] Re: Autek WM-1 Computing Meter

2005-02-04 Thread skipp025

Don,

Email me direct and I'll send you the dc information.
Autek can also be reached on the web for a manual. The
paper work doesn't have a circuit diagram... they don't
supply it although I did reverse engineer out their
circuit.

It's pretty normal plug and play for 3-30Mhz operation,
just be sure to observe the sample unit's polarity.

cheers,

Different ways of looking at the same thing =c}
I would cut the jumper even if I was putting together a stock CR, just
because of the interaction, and I've seen enough cases of the PL
decoder opening (even a Micor decoder) when there was no legit signal,
which would bring up the repeater.

Right-the way I did that is definitely NOT for everybody! Especially
if someone is putting up a stock repeater.

RE: [Repeater-Builder] RG 9 and RG 55

2005-02-04 Thread Paul Finch

Neil,

I remember them, the Singer's as well, just never used them. No, I have
never used one of the Deviation Scopes. When I first started in the two-way
industry I was the only one of three that did not have a license in our
shop. My boss made me an offer of a $1.50 per hour raise if I got my
license, I did and he did give me that raise. That started a long and for
the most part very happy career in the radio industry. I still am in the
industry with my own small two way radio service company with my own 500
foot tower. I have two customers, they are both municipalities. Two-Way is
nothing like it used to be!

Old? I remember the Gertsch FM-3's ... followed by the FM-6
and FM-7. The FM-7 came out with a Motorola label as the T-1020
I think. I am quite certain I can locate one for you in case
 you are interested.

Maybe be for the Kevin Custer Museum?

Also, used to have two Radio Speciality Deviation 'Scopes.

  Want to date yourself?

I worked in one 2-way shop one time where there were only two
licensed radio tech's among the 7 or 8 employees there. I was one
 of the licensed tech's.
