Re: [Repeater-Builder] Vocom VCC200 Information

2005-03-27 Thread Mathew Quaife

I'm thinking they may only be a 1 meg split, as I tuned my duplexer's and with 100 watts input I only get 60 watts back, but if I put the exiter into the duplexer's at 5 watts I get 4.7 watts back, so I believe the duplexer's are set ok. They can handle up to 400 watts. I'm going to take another amplifer and give that a try and see if the power dispersion is the same as the exciter or the amplifier. I placing bets on the amplifier.

Mathew
I know the UHF one's we use go 5 meg from tuned freg. I think the VHF one's go 1 or 2 meg only.John Can anyone tell me if the Vocom VCC200 amp is a narrow band amp? Meaning if it is tuned for 146 Mhz, will it be wide enough to goto 145, below the middle of the band? Can they make them narrow ennough to only go 1 meg? Also if anyone has any tune-up information on the amp, that would be helpful as well. Mathew Yahoo! Groups Links Yahoo! 2005-03-27 Thread Richard

I had a few requests for it, so I'll post
the link here. It's too big to Email (over
9 Meg!), so I put it on my web site. The link is in the left column, bottom. One
thing I'll mention is the the page order is messed up, soI ended up
sending it to Kinko's online for them to print (single sided). I got it in the
mail a few days later and spent about twenty minutes reordering the
pages.

[Repeater-Builder] Re: 440 4 Pole Antenna

2005-03-27 Thread skipp025

Hi Chuck,

Questions 101...

Why the larger section of welded rod near the
high side of the feed point?

Did you feed yours with a decibel type coax
hardness or a KLM power divider.

[A quick update: KLM power dividers are now
sold by M-Squared (aka M2) antennas here in
California).]

I typo'd the last Email to the other gent...
I suggested he also review the DB-408 antenna
information, which should have read the
DB-411 information.

How much did an article in 73 mag pay way back
then (if you don't mind saying)?

Cheers,

Through the years, the commercial antenna versions
of this antenna had some changes... the mount
changed from a tube to the current 1 bent bar
(which appears pretty easy to duplicate).

Charles' article shows the dipole welded to the
mount tube. The early DB versions used pressed
and rivot fits with hose clamp mounts. Might be
easier to press/rivot secure the elements if you
don't have a welder, but Charles method is much
  more hardy.

The element is 50 ohms when it has the larger section. The design is a clone
of a Signals antenna. Signals was purchased by Cushcraft some time ago. The
Decibel design uses elements that are 100 ohms.

I have always used a power divider.

Over the years I had 3 different articles published in 73,
plus a couple of other writing assignments. The first article
was three printed pages and needed some serious polishing
and made me $75, and I got smart. I took the first manuscript
and the printed article to my high school english teacher (I was
a sophomore then) and he helped me polish the later articles,
after congratulating me in front of the class (sigh).
Once my articles needed zero editing the payment was $40 per
printed page. And Wayne paid me for a fourth article that was
never printed.

Wayne's rules on manuscripts included:
1) the diagrams / schematics / photos were submitted on
individual pages - even if the schematic was of a simple
two-resistor one-transistor inverter, if it was to appear as a
separate diagram then it was submitted as a separate
piece of paper.
2) The manuscripts were to be double spaced, single sided
typewritten pages.

Since this was pre-word processor days the average was
four to 4.5 manuscript pages per printed page.

PS: for our non USA readers, the USA high school referrred
to above is grades
9 through 12. Sophomore is the second year. The grade
school is years 1-8.

I'm curious how that would convert to the AU and UK school
systems... I know they have forms... I've seen reference
to third form... whatever that is.

When you ask for most any Cushman Service Monitor Manual, please
keep in mind Cushman changed the manual from time to time. You
need to know the serial number of your instrument vs what serial
number series the manual are looking for covers.

  Hope this comment helps.
