I have this board (the one on the RIGHT) in a high band MASTR II station operating as a 2M repeater. The board on the LEFT is out of a sister station, which I have information on. I can not find information on this board (RIGHT) doing a search of the LBI's on the RB site. A Google search only comes up with a MASTR Exec II vehicular repeater, which none of the boards in it resemble this board. It appears to have a preamp built into it, and is part of the receiver IF section, but that's about all I can figure out looking at it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! [Repeater-Builder] Re: Recommendations for a Voter Link
We have used the LDG RVS-8 voter with great success. http://www.ldgelectronics.com/c/252/products/5/19/1 It is an 8 channel voter and does not need a 1950hz tone to operate, and is within a ham's limited budget. In fact it works so well, one was installed for a local sheriff's office. They have 4 remote sites plus the main site. Not a single hick-up with the system in over 3 years, and it provides 100% handheld coverage for the deputies on VHF. As far as links go, there is a number of ways to do them. But to get you started, visit this link, lots of good info to get you going: http://www.repeater-builder.com/rbtip/remotereceivers.html In short, use flat audio for your links (no pre or de-emphasis), use the same type equipment whenever possible, and keep the hang times short. A good sounding remote link should sound the same, or as close as possible, to the main input. Makes the voting process smoother, and adjustments easier. Good luck! Hmm... My first post didn't make it through... Anyway.. We use, with great success, the LDG RVS-8 voter. They have 4 remote receivers plus the main site on a VHF repeater. It has been working flawlessly for 3 years, and gives the deputies 100% handheld coverage of the county... Lots of good info here: http://www.repeater-builder.com/rbtip/remotereceivers.html In short, use flat audio on the links (no pre or de-emphasis), use the same equipment whenever possible, and keep the hang times short. Thanks for the help on this so far all! OK, I get email digests (a lump of messages in 1 email) instead of individual emails for each message. My email client is Hotmail, which I can and do sometimes use Outlook Express. In the emails, there are no attachements to click on to open. When I click on the title of the message, it takes me directly to that message on the Yahoo group. On the group there is a box that says there is an attachment, but nothing is actually attached. It even says the name of the particular file, just no attachment! I'm stumped... Maybe I can try looking at them through Outlook and see if that makes a difference. I even made sure Hotmail was not blocking any inbound attachments, and I can not see any type of filter that would prevent it. Thanks again all for your help!! Hello all, I've created 2 folders, and uploaded a few files to them They are DB-224 and DB Antennas. These are for passing along files relating to the Decible DB antennas. If the moderators could move some of the other files that are scattered around the files page, it would make it alot easier to find them Thanks and enjoy!! I have a Motorola Micor and a GE Ranger service manual available. Does anyone need one? They are both complete with pull out schematics! Thanks! Steve KD8BIW
[Repeater-Builder] Re: Service Manuals
Forgot to post this, the Ranger manual is for the VHF-High band series. The Micor covers all models. [Repeater-Builder] Re: RFS TDE-7780A
We just built a portable repeater for our county... Motorola R100 UHF running 15W with a set of Celwave 6 cavity dupes. Antenna is a Ringo AR450 in a bag with a set of fiberglass mast poles, and some LMR400 feedline. Depending on the length, you could use RG8X or similiar. Would stay away from RG58 unless it's going to be a really short run, pretty losey at UHF and above. Good luck, and send some pics when you get it all done! I have seen several of the RFS TDE-7780A listed on epay. Do these work reasonably well in the Ham band? My freqs are 445.800 - 440.800. I hope to have 15 to 20 watts out of the MVP after conversion. Two last questions, what cable does the collective recommend for the antenna feedline, between the duplexer and the antenna? Any recommendations for a antenna? The plan is to deploy this repeater when additional radio coverage is needed by placing it on a mountain top or high structure. It would be self contained in an Ammo can or two. [Repeater-Builder] Scom 7330 Ideas
Hello all, We will be upgrading our controller to a Scom 7330 soon, and i'm looking for any unique and interesting ideas for programming, options, etc. Did you do something odd, different, or just plain cool with your controller, i'd like to know. These are capable of so much, i'm looking for ideas. So far, I'm using 2 ports, 1 for the repeater and a 2nd for a control receiver. I think I would like to link to a local 440 repeater, but not sure. I'm open to ideas and suggestions. Thanks! Steve KD8BIW
[Repeater-Builder] Re: DB224-JJ Dimensions Wanted
Our G7 is 1/2 wave from the tower (about 24). That seemed to work best for us. The tower is guyed with a 19 face. Think it's a Rohn, but that is of no concern. So far I am pleased with it's performance, just looking to optimize coverage as much as possible w/o remote receivers. Right now getting about 80% of the coverage we would like. If I can get to 90-95% I would be happy. To be honest, I want 110% coverage(who doesn't! HiHi)!! As far as the dimensions of the elements, I have them at home, I will send them out later on. Thanks all!! How far from the tower is your G7-220? - Original Message - From: skipp025 To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com Sent: Friday, January 08, 2010 11:56 AM Subject: [Repeater-Builder] Re: DB224-JJ Dimensions Wanted I'm looking for a DB224-JJ. They are becoming hard to find, even from manufacturers. I would also consider a Hustler HD6-5 or something similar to that. If someone has the dimensions for the 224-JJ Loops and maybe the spacing distance... I think I can get them made. A local (to me) Ham has made a metal forming jig for loop antenna materials and is currently cranking out 440 loop antennas like crazy. I could get him to re-size the jig and crank out some 224 MHz loops with their mounts. Anyone have the JJ info available? I'm currently using a Hustler G7-220 side mounted, which works OK, but looking for something that could be top mounted. I've got a G7-220 Tower Top Mounted and it works killer (good). Having problems getting coverage in the areas I need due to shadowing from the tower. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Changing the spacing of the antenna to the tower would modify the pattern. s.
[Repeater-Builder] Re: Remote Receiver site
Small weatherproof box with 2 Moto (or GE)mobiles, 1 VHF and 1 UHF. 2 weather tight N connectors, and weather proof 120V AC pass through. Mounted on tower and run AC power up. 2 short runs of coax to antennas. ID with a Comm-Spec ID8. Strip ID at repeater site with a audio notch filter used in tone remote applications (2150hz). Could even put a small AGM battery in box for back-up power.
