out it's ident every 15 minuets and as far as I can see although the id

[Repeater-Builder] MSF5000 help please?

2008-03-11 Thread dave_g7uzn
Hi All, Let me first of all say that I don't know if the 5000 I have
is working or faulty! It is not complete as I only have the control
tray and the vco/rf tray (no psu or pa).

It's a uhf CXB secure capable version.

This is what I have done in an attempt to read the code
plugConnected 12v dc to the relevent wires on the 9 way sil
socket and 5v dc at the relevent wires. The 6 way molex is
unconnected as is the 40 way ribbon connector to the remote board.

When I switch on the psuNothing
When I put the toggle switch to 'reset' the led display says 8.8.8.
the secure fail led illuminates, as does the leds on the remote unit
fail,line ptt,fail soft,trc encode.
I have changed some of the jumpers to tell the unit that there isn't
a secure board fitted but it didn't make any difference (I have
restored them to their original position)

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the alarms out so I
can read the code plug please (that exercise failed as well!)

Thanks in advanceCheers Dave UZN

9 way power sil socket ...red,white,brown,black,blue,orange,green

40 way ribbon to remote control

I don't have a manual so don't know where to shove some dc to check the

Why would they come knocking on MY door...surely they would knock on
the persons door that sent it?

This is the main reason why Motorola are largely avoided in the UK
due to the 'closed door' attitude. I would bet that I would have a
real problem finding an authorised dealer willing or now able to
program a 5000 for me. I wonder how many Motorola repeaters
throughout the world have had their proms 'tickled' by borrowed s/w?

Hi Steve, I would be very happy to empty the beer barrels of there
contents! Seriously though there is a company in the UK that make
filters out of barrels but they only work down to about 68MHz due to
the lengh. I have a set and they would make an excellent 70MHz duplexer
but we don't have 4M repeaters here!
As far as oxygen cylinders go.I'm not sure what they are made of
but I know the carbon dioxide ones used in fire extinguisher systems
are made from cast iron and are lined with concrete.

[Repeater-Builder] Re: 6M cans still wanted in UK

2006-12-24 Thread dave_g7uzn
Thanks for the suggestion Erik but 2 site working isn't really an
option as there is only one tower in the area that I have access to.
Come to think of it I don't think there's even a tall building nearby.

I would like to try and use single aerial working so there is a good
balance between tx and rx paths.

   Cheers Dave UZN

Thanks for the link Chuck...I have seen it before but the irrigation
pipe is plastic in the UK! and to buy the raw materials new would
cost more than a second hand set INCLUDING shipping.

[Repeater-Builder] Re: 6M duplexer wanted in UK

2006-12-17 Thread dave_g7uzn
Hi Ian, All points noted and I do appreciate that a few 6M repeaters
in the UK do use the heliax design but I do wonder how stable and
efficient they are compared with a set of 4 Wacoms or similar. I
must admit that I have 8 suitable lenghs of LDF750 that has been
donated by our understanding aerial riggers but have not yet got a
soldering iron to them! I do however intend to make one stub and see
how that looks on a spectrum anyliserI suppose in this weather I
could leave it out in the cold for a couple of hours and test it and
let it warm back up and test it again to see it's stability.

Having spoke to those that have got proper cans on their repeaters
they all recommend going down the can route (despite the expence)

  Cheers Dave UZN
ps.Still looking for someone with a set of cans for sale.

Hi All, I rescently purchased a CSI 3850 shared repeater panel but
when I came to program itIn A_U_ section parameters
1.9 =
2.0 = 38.49
2.3 to 4.1 all = A !!

I performed a factory reset but this hasn't cured the situation then I
disconnected the backup battery for 5 mins and that didn't help either.

The eprom has a blue sticker on it and there is a date stamp on the
unit pp #3 11/89

Can anyone tell me if I need an upgrade or is the unit knackered?

the perameters have been set, even if a pin on the dtmf decode chip
need clipping or bending out of it's socket?? Any suggestions
