Re: [Repeater-Builder] OT Fish paper
Bernie--- Home Depot sells a resin paper to the construction trade that is generally used to protect floors during a job. Unfortunately it comes in rolls about 5 in. dia. by about 3 feet wide but it is cheap and tough---I have used it for electrical fish paper. It's pink/brown in color and about half as thick as 15 pound roofing felt. The description doesn't say if there's an adhesive backing on this. I'd think you'd need something - glue or double-sided tape - to stick it on a panel you want to protect. As I recall, Heathkit used to use the self-stick stuff in many of their units, but after 20-30 years, the adhesive dries up and the fish paper falls out of position. Most annoying. I found it recently online, we use it for wrapping cables before 'sewing' them into place on cable tray in Central Offices. I don't remember where I got it, but if you search around for waxed string, sewing cables, fish paper, something like that you'll find a source for the waxed string and sewing 'needles' used for telecommunications work. Good luck! : Does anybody know of a good source for fish paper insulating material? I trying to find it available in small quantities.

Maybe google for Micarta. We use it for Hi-Voltage (480 VAC) stuff. Material we use is thicker than fish paper, though. If I find any info on fish paper, I'll post it. 73, kd6aaj --- On Thu, 3/5/09, dallasreact112 dallasreact...@yahoo.com wrote: From: dallasreact112 dallasreact...@yahoo.com Subject: [Repeater-Builder] OT Fish paper To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com Date: Thursday, March 5, 2009, 2:28 PM Does anybody know of a good source for fish paper insulating material? RE: [Repeater-Builder] OT Fish paper
Bernie, Scotch (3M) makes 2520 Adhesive-Backed Varnished Cambric tape in various widths, and you can purchase single rolls from industrial suppliers such as McMaster-Carr and Grainger. This stuff is much better than fish paper, both for its insulating value and its mechanical strength. You will not find this product at Home Depot or Lowes, because it has specialized uses within the electrical power industry. 73, Eric Lemmon WB6FLY -Original Message- From: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com [mailto:repeater-buil...@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of dallasreact112 Sent: Thursday, March 05, 2009 2:29 PM To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Repeater-Builder] OT Fish paper Does anybody know of a good source for fish paper insulating material?
