If by glasshouse you mean glasscoder and glasscoder-gui, I would be happy
to help with that as well. I think I may need to try doing things the way
Lorne suggests. It may be simpler than how I currently start my clients and
make my connections.

Thanks Lorne

That's really helpful. Drew spent a great deal of time with me going through my

I now have Jack working and I'm trying to get glasshouse talking to my icecast

You could run a script that scans syslog (or whatever log rdairplay uses),
detects each song as it plays, and modifies its start date so it can't be
played again until a certain future date and time. If the jock wanted to
play it anyway, he/she would have to lanuch rdlibrary and reset the start
date.

This presupposes assigning all songs an end date in the far future, such
as January 16, 2038.

There are no predefined hooks, so you’d need to hack the code. Bear in mind
that there are several ways to add a cart to an active log beyond just the
‘Add’ button —e.g. drag-and-drop, log refresh, etc.

Cheers!

You could get it from the PAD updates (either directly, or via the PyPAD
subsystem). That does have drawbacks of course, the biggest one being that the
updates are emitted only when an active log advances —i.e. *not* in
synchronization with actual mode changes.

You hit the wrong day for me, but we do run Livewire to Fusion consoles,
and do quite a bit with the Livewire GPI and GPO's.

Hit me up next week, and we'll see.
A difference might be that we do NOT run livewire on a second network !
Steve designed it to co-exist, so that's the way we use it.

[RDD] Message Box after "Add" in rdairplay

2020-01-10 Thread Steve
Hello,

I'd like to execute an SQL query when someone adds a cart to a log in RDairplay
such that the RDairplay message box then displays the last time that cart was
played. The SQL query was the easy part, but is there a way to capture the
"Add" process so that when someone clicks "OK" in the "Select Cart" dialog or
even
when they click the "Where?" button, that the event is called? As an
alternative, can "Last Played" be added as a column in the "Select Cart" dialog?

The scenario is one of a live DJ overriding the log to insert a requested song.
We'd like to prevent the same song from being played out during X timeframe,

[RDD] Best Way to Get Automation Mode

2020-01-10 Thread John Boles
Hi All,
I am working on a python script that toggles(Automatic/Manual) / starts the
Stack on a GPI.
I have the toggle working great by monitoring the operations log file for
Mode changes and then update the database table HOSTVAR variable %PMMODE%
with either 2 or 3 depending on what the last mode was.
I have a macro cart that toggles the mode.
PM %PMMODE% 1! That gets fired from the board.
What I am wondering, is monitoring the operations log the only way to get
what mode RDAirplay is in or am I missing something in the docs?

Thanks

Mike,

I just went into the #rivendell channel on freenode irc. If you can get
there, the interaction may make things easier. We will lose the on list
documentation of this that might help others in the future though. Your
call.

all the best,

Each time I try to install a streaming client I cannot work out how to get it
to stream from Jack as it keeps saying things like Jack is not running.

Is there anybody who has produced a clear, step by step guide, to getting a
connection between RD -> Jack -> Darkice / Butt / Ices? I would really
appreciate some help as I've been working on this for two weeks and I'm getting
so frustrated.

Thanks a lot.

[RDD] Jack connection how to needed

2020-01-10 Thread Mike Cox
Hi all

I'm having real problems trying to get my setup working with Jack. I've read
hundreds of "How to" posts and tried installing loads of different software but
I'm getting nowhere and could really do with some help. I have a fair bit of
experience with RD but used as an analogue output and not using Jack.

I have installed RD 3.2 on a Centos 7 laptop. It works nicely and I've been
able to restore my database and audio onto the laptop from another machine.

I've tried installing Ices, Butt and Darkice to use as a streamer so that I can
connect the output of RD to the input of the streamer using Jack. This is the
bit I cannot get to work.

Apart from the difficulty of installing the various clients (missing
dependencies, failing to recognise Jack, etc), I cannot work out how to get
Jack to work between the devices. The Jack outputs now show in RD under Audio
Resources (24 inputs / 24 outputs). I can configure the outputs in RDAdmin
Configure > RDAirplay so that bit looks OK.

Mike
