Re: [RDD] Schedule going blank in RDAirPlay
When the log goes blank, it shows what has played, but everything coming up disappears. I suppose it might relate to refreshing the log. We have checked "Enable AutoRefresh By Default" under "Edit Service" so that when we are importing voicetracks for the day they will be ready to play. Maybe this is causing an occasional problem. The closest thing I've ever seen to that relates to the use of the Refresh Log button. I long ago gave up using that button because often it would reload only part of the day's log, and when the last event on the reloaded log ran, the schedule would be blank and nothing would be on the air. Here's a question: does the right hand side of rdairplay, which shows the aired log events, show anything? Or is it blank as well? [RDD] Visually Impaired Voice Tracker
We have a woman who is visually impaired (legally blind) who is doing some weekend voice tracking for us. Won't RDCatch do this for you? RDCatch gets almost all of our program files for us, mostly via ftp downloads, but some are transferred from local folders. [RDD] Replacing Rivendell Server
I am working on replacing our current Rivendell server with a big fancy HP server that has dual power supplies, two Xeon processors and 32 GB of RAM, and I want to make sure I've got everything right so our clients will keep running properly. Here's what I've done (or will do when it's time): * Installed Rivendell 3.5 in Centos7 on the new server as a server install. * Copied all the audio to the new server's snd folder. * Given the new server a static ip. * Restored the database from the current server to the new server. * Added the name of the new server to the Hosts in Admin. * Edit the RDConf file in each client so that that new server ip replaces the old server ip. So the question is: Is there anything else I need to do? Is there anything I'm overlooking? Should I change the ip of the new server to that of the old server when I remove the old server? [RDD] ID Scheduling Problem Resolved
Y'all may recall that on the 23rd I posted about a problem with Rivendell 3.5 importing our Music 1 logs correctly. The import using RDLogManager was failing due to some issue with our Voice Track markers. I made sure the "Inline Event Start/Length" value (in RDAdmin - Manager Services) was changed from "Relative Position" to "From Scheduler File." Also I made sure that the "Insert Voice Track String" was "VT." Still there was a problem. After looking at our database and Music 1 log, Fred gave me this solution: == Your Music1 schedule file has the event length field in a slightly different location from that called for in the Music1 importer layout. To fix it, run RDAdmin and open the configuration for the 'Production' service. Then, in the 'Music Data Import' section, touch the 'Copy to Custom' button, then change the following settings: Length - Hours: 60 : 1 Length - Minutes:62 : 2 Length - Seconds:65 : 2 and then touch 'OK'. After doing that, your sample log data for 3 Jan 2021 appears to generate perfectly. === After making these modifications the logs are importing perfectly! If you're having any similar problems you may need to customize your import template also. Go to this page for info about "Inline Event Scheduling Parameters:" http://opsguide.rivendellaudio.org/html/sect.rdadmin.manage_services.html#sect.rdadmin.manage_services.general.inline_event_scheduling_parameters Thanks much to Fred! [RDD] ID Scheduling Problem
I sent out an email about this a few minutes ago with a screenshot, but it was too big and I got an automated reply that it had to be approved by the moderator, so here's another message without the screenshot. We just updated yesterday to 3.5, and just discovered that the schedules created for the new year are putting all of the legal IDs at the end of the log. We use Music1 for music and traffic scheduling, and the IDs are inserted by RDLogManager. This has been working fine until now. If I look at the log in RDLogEdit the Estimated Time for each song and item is there, but if I bring up the log in the Voice Tracker all of the items are scheduled for "00:00"00." The text log generated by Music1 looks fine. In RDAirPlay the log listing is blank in the field for Estimated Time. Obviously we need to resolve this problem right away. Any ideas? Thanks! [RDD] RDAirPlay Crash
We started using Rivendell on-air in February, and for the most part it has worked very well for us. Twice however, we have had RDAirPlay crash at midnight. The latest was Friday night. We are running version 3.4.0. We have our IDs scheduled as a timed start, hard start time, make next for 59:30 for each hour, including 23:59:30. We overschedule our hours a bit so that the ID will usually play near the top of the hour. I looked at the log for Friday, and everything looked normal. There was a correct "Log Chain" command at the end of the log scheduled for T00:00:00.0 that pointed to the log for 0815. Does anyone have an idea why RDAirPlay might quit under these circumstances? Would there be a problem if the last song of the day ended before the ID was scheduled for 23:59:59 and then the log chain command came in before 00:00:00? If you have any ideas, I would appreciate it! Thanks much! I'm wondering if there is a way in the Voice Tracker to have the Title field in the log window only display the Title information without including the data from the "Ingest" field? Thanks very much to the couple of people who have offered ideas for solving my Legal ID scheduling issue. Now RDLog Manager is no longer importing my music logs. [RDD] Major Problems
We were planning to put Rivendell on the air for the first time officially next Monday, but unless I can solve a major problem that came up Friday, it's not going to happen. We use Music1 for our scheduling software, and it's set up to generate Rivendell schedules, and seems to work fine. The trouble seems to be with the legal ID at the top of the hour. We overschedule our hours by a song or two, and we need the ID to run at or near the top of the hour after whatever is playing from the previous hour, and then throw out any songs or elements that are left over from the previous hour and go into the new hour. Scheduling the ID in Music1 had the ID running after everything from the previous hour had finished, obviously putting the ID too late. So, I tried scheduling the ID in RD, setting the "Start at" time at the top of the hour and ticking the "make next" selection. When I play it back in RDAirPlay and it gets to the ID, it will start to play it, and then totally crashes. RDAirPlay just quits. I've observed this several times. Maybe I don't understand how the "hard time" event works? I set the "transition type" to Segue, if that makes any difference. Thanks for any help!
