you can write your own perl script and launch it in a terminal.

inside your script you will search for all revelent tickets and apply your 
modifications.

I finally got my ExtractCF working last night on incoming tickets to a 
queue, what I would like to do is find a way to manually run that script 
against the existing tickets in the queue (There’s about 2500). Is this 
possible at all? Please advise. Thank you!

I've installed  RT-Extension-QuickDelete, added it to RT_SiteConfig.pm and
restarted Apache, but it doesn't appear. Do I need to do anything else? If
not, where's it hiding :)

Hello,

here, when someone need help from someone else, he writes a comment as you 
do, and then gives the ticket to the person from who he wantq support. 
A scrip informs him by email, and the ticket is now in his list.
When this second person has finished helping/commenting, he can give back 
the ticket to the firt person.
This is a simple mechanism, but working here.

[rt-users] notify colleagues about a ticket in RT web interface (not by 
mail)






Hi,

we have just started using RT and come across this problem: a ticket has 
been opened (by one of our users via a simplified web interface or 
internally), somebody in the support group has started working on it 
(she/he is now the owner) but finds that other colleagues should be 
involved at some stage. Now using a CC or AdminCC with the comment 
action can be used to notify the colleague that help would be appreciated 
with this case. However, this notification is mail-based and (in our case) 
some members of the support group will look at the RT web interface more 
often than at their mail clients - but the ticket will not show in either 
of their default ticket lists (it is neither unowned, nor is it owned 
by them). Is there a recommended way to notify regular RT users (in the RT 
web interface) that they should look into a ticket - other than generating 
mail notifications for them or making them the owner of a case?

Hello list, 

i'd like advice on the following method i've implemented wich is working 
99%, just missing the last step. 
I've added a new Priority ColumnMap called PriorityArrows for our manager 
to be able to modify priorities rapidly while looking at a Dashboard 
during a meeting, without need to enter into ticket details. 
It is looking like this (other icons are working well already) : 

The arrows are href link pointing to an html page doing the priority 
modification, and this is working. 
In this html page, i've added a javascript method to go back one page to 
the dashboardn this is working too. 
BUT the dashboard has not been refreshed with the new value, as the page 
is cached (inside the browser?masoncache?). 

So now i'd like to know if someone would have a hint to force refresh of 
dashboard page after back(), or any other idea. 

I'm using RT 3.8, and here are the codes i've written :

Hi,

We have 2 email addresses (1 for english speaking clients and 1 for 
french speaking clients) that receive ticket requests.

I was wondering if anyone can help with an example of a scrip that would 
send a different autoreply (english reply if sent to supp...@domain.com) 
(french reply with sent to supporttechni...@domain.com) when a new 
ticket is created in the general queue depending on the email address 
that the ticket was sent to.

So if I understand how it works, the template would contain some perl 
code that examines the email address to and auto-replies using one text 
else it replies with another text.

from your explanation is to escape the html code with the \ symbol before

usefull color customization (see attached image).

thanks for the hint, but it doesn't work as expected.
In fact, in the advanced page, the fileds used are :
'__DependsOn__',
'__Children__'
each of them is, by default, creating by itself a List of clickable ticket 
IDs, and i'd like to add subject and formatting.

Also, in /share/html/Elements/RT__Ticket/ColumnMap, i can see that the 
'ExtendedStatus' is doing some query for dependedon tickets, so i can try 
to do something similar, but i can't find the same things for 'Children' 
or 'DependsOn'

If someone can point me at the sourcecode trigered by the above fields, i 
could change it to suit my needs

I have never tried anything like what you are trying.
It is possible that for this you might have to use a ColumnMap

However concerning display the Ticket subject next to his number
I believe that '__id__  __Subject__ ' should work.

[rt-users] adding Ticket links in search result

Hello,

i'm trying to build a search wich would have a colum displaying the 
tickets links exactly the same way as is TicketDisplay page (with 3.8 
install)
I found two things :
 - this code related to the above page is in 
/opt/rt3/share/html/Elements/ShowLinks
 - in ticket search engine, i can display children/DependsOn links, but 
the result will only show ticket ids without formatting.

Should i create a new ColumnMap (as recently discussed) pasting some code 
from the ShowLinks File, or any simpler way to modify the existing colums 
?
Could someone help me choose the best way to go ?

After a few month dealing with RT, i've been gaining some perl programming 
experience, thanks guys !

Thanks for the reply, I've changed that setting but it doesn't seem to 
fully solve my problem (I do notice a difference).

I've modified the scrip a little, it now looks like this:

The first problem I have is that the SLA is already set to the value 
Normal, I see the scrip running but it keeps saying Set SLA Low to 
Normal or similar for Urgent (normal is ignored). So I get a feeling it 
does something, but it doesn't actually change the content of the SLA 
field.

Maybe it's the type of CF that the SLA field is, it's a dropbox with the 
three options Urgent, Normal and Low. But I thought it shouldn't matter?!

The second problem is that if the SLA field is set to (no value) then the 
scrip gives the error Low is no longer a value for custom field SLA, 
which could be the same issue as the first? Not able to fill the actual 
field?

Any thoughts on this? (the above code is a little different but I get the 
same results as the first code)

Hi All

I'm working on implementing a workflow based queue in RT3.6 based on the
instructions here;

How it works is this.

A master ticket is created with 3 custom fields. Each custom field can 
have
2 values Required and Completed

When Required is set, a scrip creates a child ticket.

When the child ticket is closed, a scrip updates the master ticket and
changes the Custom Field in that ticket from Required to Complete

Every thing works fine at this point.

I then decided that it would be a neat idea if when the child task is
completed, the next child task could automatically begin.

In theory, to do this would simply require that the On Resolve scrip
update the next Custom Field in the workflow, setting it to Required 
which
should trigger the next child ticket. 

After adding a few extra lines to the On Resolve scrip I am now
automatically updating the Custom Field in the next step to Required,
which should trigger a condition.

This is where I'm stalled.

It seems that the Condition is not triggered when you programmatically set
the Custom Field to Required. If you unset it and then set it back to
Required manually it works just fine.

This is the code for the Condition as per the Workflow wiki page;

I reckon the trouble is in this particular script, but I don't really know
perl at all so I could be wrong. I am assuming that I might need another
code if ($trans-Type eq '???)  /code block maybe?
 
If anybody has any ideas on what I need to do to make a programatically 
set
custom field trigger a condition I would sure appreciate it.

I don't want to load up this post with tonnes of code so if there is any
extra info you require please let me know.

[rt-users] RTx::BecomeUser feature

Hi,

I installed the extension RTx::BecomUser on my 3.8.8 RT, and the option 
displayed as expected in the menu.
I can choose someone to become, and can see the Congratulation messages, 
as well as the name changing on the top bar.

But this is short success as i have configured RT to have Apache 
Authentication for pages... so as soon as i click on another page, i 
become myself again

Is there any way to keep the selected user active with apache auth, or may 
i be a new feature for this plugin ?

Hi,

the email stay in the internal network of the company. From RT to SMTP 
sever then to mail clients.
Both server and mail client accept html email, and looking at the email in 
text, i can see that everything is kept es RT sent it.
Only Lotus Notes won't display PNG images, so i did the previous mentioned 
patch to have pie chart/Bar graphs working.

Raphael,

No it isn't. I have some graphs I send out in a dashboard and they all 
look fine. The only problem I've had with dashboards is the No Limit 
option doesn't really work and the output gets dropped after a certain 
number of lines. The graphs show up fine (I'm still in 3.8.7).

Two considerations, your email provider (Gmail, etc.) may not like the 
html or whatever format you are sending and it has to be configured for 
that type of info. Maybe it wants text only. The other consideration is 
what you might have to do to RT to configure output in email to make 
graphs display inline. I really don't know as I haven't had to look into 
anything like that as yet.

available)...

that images generated for the graphs have header :
 Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
 Content-Type: image/png
 Content-Disposition: inline
 Content-ID: 131002560331525265433
and are reffered with : img src=3Dcid:131002560331525265433 /br /

So probably Lotus Notes is either unable to display PNG images, or won't 
accept inline images (i can't have any answer from our IT department)

Is it possible to modify the format of sent image to JPG for example so i 
can make a try ? where to start with in the code, RT or external source ?

One step further : Lotus Notes won't accept PNG images, but will show GIF 
images

So for the pie chart to be displayed correctly, the following patch did 
the trick :
in  /opt/rt3/share/html/Search/Chart
line 191 
-my @types = ('png' , 'gif');
+my @types = ('gif' , 'png');

but for the tickets relathionship graphs things are harder.

I made some tries on /opt/rt3/share/html/Tickets/Graphs/dhandler lines 71 
through 76, by changing png to gif
but the result is not so immediate. On the WebUI, refreshing my browser, 
the image alterns between, having a black backgound, not displaying at 
all, displaying correctly.
There must be another file to patch...

The subject pretty much says it all.  We are runing 3.8.10.  When you
create a child ticket, it is created in the same queue.  The ticket
creation page doesn't give you the opportunity to select a different
queue.  It is possible to remove that restriction and creaate a ticket in
a different queue?

[rt-users] Cannot resolve file, with NTLM auth

Hello,

we're now using NTLM authentification on RT3.8.8
On user side everything works fine, but in the logs, i have the following 
line written four times each time a page is displayed

component root?) at

For sure this file is outside component root as defined in my rt3.conf :

May i need to add more options in rt3.conf or modify others in httpd.conf

[rt-users] NTLM and fetchmail

hi,

on a RT3.8.8 i've successfully configured NTLM authentification, but now i 
have a problem with fetchmail wich takes the emails from an imap server.
Fetchmail is able to grab the messages, but when forwarding to 
/opt/rt3/sbin/rt-mailgate, apache is answering an 401 Authorization 
required so emails are not passed to RT (nor deleted from the server)

I beleive i have a misconfiguration either in apache or fetchmail rc file, 
but can't get it to work correctly, may someone have a look ?

not used here, but i beleive it's the RT internal logic.

/REST/1.0/NoAuth/mail-gateway location should be excluded from
authentication. However, it's better to limit hosts that can access by
IP.

it does work so i can click on the link and look at the ticket on the 
other server
but it does not display the ticket status compared to an internal link, so 
a depends on links doesn't really work

may it be possible to acheive this via normal http links ?

In fact it does work with FF4, even if the same SSO Failed and no user to 
test with. Nexting message appears in my logs... i'm just living with it
my  version of RT::Authen:ExternalAuth is 0.08 running on a Mandriva 2010
i have not tested with later versions of authen plugin (maybe i should)

well, and the LDAP authentication piece works but I have been unable to 
get the SSO piece working properly. Same error gets generated in FF4 as it 
does in IE8:

platform)? Not sure if you are on an earlier/later version, but if you are 
on a later version this may be useful information, as I may just need to 
upgrade it.

match list, you need to remove the , (comma) after the Name attribute
I think i remember having some error similar ; the last parameter must NOT 
have the comma, at the end of the line

Queues that are used to support Application Projects/Systems/Support. In 
most cases, we have a WorkFlow process that includes Review  Approval of 
requests before being moved to the support Queue as well as QA procedures 
that allow for separate approval of QA test results (by another team or 
the requestors, etc) before migration to production  Resolution. That 
means I the documentation will be referring to Ticket Status values we 
added, Custom Fields  Scrips created for these processes.

As long as you guys plan to rip out what you don't need, it can be useful 
as a baseline of instruction on understanding terminology, privileges, 
notification scrips, searching  reporting (including dashboards), and on.

I hope it will be useful for you.

in RT_SiteConfig.pm, change option UseFriendlyFromLine to 0 :

Hi List,

We have just upgraded from RT 3.6.7 to 3.8.8.

The first thing we noticed is that RT now uses the Real Name variable 
to show who posted comments/replies into a ticket, instead of the 
Username variable, which we were previously used too.

In our case, all staff members Real Names are set to our company name, 
so after the upgrade we are unable to tell which staff member posted a 
comment/reply because they are all listed as our company name. The only 
reason we have our Real Names set to our company name, is because we 
want our staff members names to remain anonymous in Correspondence to 
customers.

I have no problem changing our Real Names to our individual names, and 
that will fix part of the problem because we will then be able to see 
internally which staff member has updated a ticket, however doing that 
will then mean that when we send Correspondence to customers, they will 
see the staff members Real Name in the FROM field (eg John Citizen via 
RT).

So I believe as well as changing our Real Names to our actual real 
names, I am also going to need to mofify the correspdance template, and 
some how get it to strip out our Real Name in the FROM field, and 
replace it with our company name.

The problem I am having is I cannot find documentation on how I could do 
this.

If someone could please point me in the right direction that would be 
much appreciated.

 After installing  HistoryFilter(or BriefHistory) to rt3.8.8 the plugin 
RT-Authen-ExternalAuth-0.08 stops work. 
I could login with local account, but login with ldap account is not

[rt-users] multiple files upload not working

hello,

i'm using RT 3.8.8, and added a custom filed type multiple files upload 
(french Télécharger plusieurs fichiers) to tickets.
It shows correctly on ticket creation, but the popup box allows only 
single file selection. this popup is named (Choisir un fichier à 
télécharger) choose a file to download.
Upload multiple images has the same wrong behaviour.
Tested with both firefox and IE, and found no related information in the 
mailinglist archives.

Could Someaone help me find the reason ?

you will be able to upload more.

In other words, you can only upload one file at a time.

In addition, please check you settings here

Nothing else to match? If so, just to be sure, please delete the comma 
after
'sAMAccountName'.

Finally, I would recommend you to comment 'ssl_version'  = 3,

After you get this configuration to work, then you can play with the SSL
configuration.

[rt-users] changing priorities on the fly

Hello,
on a RT3.8.8

We're using Dashboards with tickets order by priorities to see current 
actions.
During meetings we want to change priorities of displayed tickets.
to achieve this we need to : click on the ticket name, go to essential 
view, change priority, validate, and finally clisk a shortcut to the 
dashboard.
this is not very user friendly

What we would like is to be able to change priorities while in the 
dashboard view.
  Either by drag'n'drop (ideal but many UI coding seems necessary)
  or having the priorities being combobxes (drop down list)
  or having +/- buttons next to the priority number
  or having http links in custom fields launching a scrip to update the 
priority (like an Up arrow, and a Down arrow)

the only solution i found is to have the priority number clickable to the 
modify.html page, wich save a few clicks

i tried adding a custom field style combobox to the tickets but the 
dashboard still display the actual value not the combobox.
 maybe it is possible to modify the ColumnMap to show the combobox 
instead of the value ?

The other solution i'm considering is in the ticket search engine
when adding a column to display we can choose a Format:Relation with 
standard transactions actions, and resulting in something like :

href=__WebPath__/Ticket/Update.html?Action=Respondamp;id=__idQueueName__/a'
 Would it be possible to start a custom Scrip action when clicking the 
link instead of a web page ?
 or maybe a custom html page ?

Does anyone has made something similar working, with any of these or

[rt-users] FCKEditor , browser, and colors

The quick descritpion symptom i have is sometimes RT is not displaying the 
colors edited in the FCKEditor.
RT version 3.8.8, and FCKEditor version 2.6.4

My analysis is :

When i edit my text with IE8, FCK Editor generates the following code :

Now, when i forward the ticket to my LotusNotes messaging, BOTH codes are 
displayed in colours.
So i beleive there is something to modify on the RT Side.

May i upgrade the FCKEditor to a newer version ? if yes, does a RT patch 
exist ?

Still i'm going to try and find why FCK generates different htlm code with 
different browsers, there should be something in its config, at least i

This is a result of RT's HTML scrubbing for security purposes.  In 3.8,
the CSS is unnecessarily restrictive to allowing only colors using rgb()
rather than #hex.  It's fixed in 4.0.  If you really wanted you could
backport the changes to ScrubHTML from 4.0, but that code has moved
around so you'd have to adjust it appropriately (and know what you were
doing).

[rt-users] attachments behaviour on ticket forward

hi everyone,
(on RT version 3.8.8, sending via smtp command)

when forwarding a ticket with several attachments, i have the following 
behaviour :
a zz.xls file is attached correctly as a xls file 
a xxx.TXT file is displayed in the body
a yyy.log (containing plain-text) file is attached as a yyy.dat file

theses are 3 differents things depending on the file type/extension.
what i want is to always attach the files with original filename/extension

where are the config option to setup attachments behaviour ?
I haven't found any revelant option in RT_SiteConfig / RT_Config files ... 
may it be in the linux smtp configuration ?

[rt-users] Dashboard not sent ?

Hi,

i have my RT3.8.8 running correctly on a Mandriva 10 machine, with mail 
sent through smtp working on tickets updates with scrips.

I have subscribed to a dashboard who is using a saved search (with visible 
results), But  i never receive the email.

whenever i change my subscription settings, i have the result yellow box 
showing something like

give me a hint ?

Thanks Gerard that works !

I skipped the step in the README when installing the sytem as it wasn't 
needed as a start.
Thought i couldn't find revelant help in the mail archives until i added 
the cron keyword following your email.

And the results are displayed corectly within Lotus Notes.

Another issue is that the field in the received mail are in english, 
although my RT interface is in french.

Is there an option somewhere to force RT using the french equivalent words 
in the email ?
