As it turns out, Coral calcium does have an
alkalinizing affect of the body. So does Vit D, in
large quantities.

In reality, if you were deficient in alkaline calcium,
you could eat all the alkaline-ash foods you wanted
and it would not balance your pH. pH is an expression
of the condition of the calciums in your body (the
ratio of alkalinizing to acidifying calciums). Our
bodies need both types of calciums.

I would think, complimented, not offended.

Have you ever done any blood pH tests?

I had a blood pH test done within the last year. The doctor
wrote 7.46 as ideal.
Also found this number another place or two. My reading was 7.51 at that
time.

Possibly there could be a .05 error in the test.

Could this vary a small amount from day to day?

Re: CSa simple CS maker

2005-11-17 Thread odecoyote

No generator will reliably or consistantly make 1PPM per minute unless 'Everything' is controlled and precise.
Most all people who say such things control nothing.

First off, how much water are you making it in?
What part of the current ramp-up did you start on?
Will current level off or keep accelerating?
Very small variations at the start make huge differences in the end results.

I order to use a timer to predict anything at all:
1] Electrode spacing and positioning must be repeatable.
2] Initial water temperature and conductivity must be exactly the same between batches.

This generator is no more than 3 nine volt batteries and some wire in a box.
You can get one at a fair price that may have a little bit more in it at Sunstone Herbals [$40?]

You 'can' make decent CS with devices like that if you have the time to watch it. It just isn't a no brainer and many things can be added to improve performance, but won't make it automatic.
Using a stir system and a PWT or COM-100 meter will help a lot.
Adding a reostat and digital multimeter allows you to tell something about what's going on, how fast and do something about it.

They get their measurement from a PWT and that is useless.

CSdiseased beef in non-organic commercial meat supply

This just came in from a friend. I am forwarding this not to promote fear, but
to advise caution and common sense. If you forward this, please remove my name
and email address. Thanks.

***Beginning of message***
I was recently visiting my mother in California and read the morning paper she
had sitting on the kitchen table. I was surprised to see an article, small and
not on a front page (duh) that stated they had found Mad Cow diseased cattle in
Dallas. There are 413 cows that have been 'lost.' Apparently, many cows lose
their ear tags when being transferred, and are just retagged. The group was
accounted for except for the 413, which have apparently entered the meat
industry!

I think it's important to NOT buy any hamburger from any grocery store unless
you know where it came from or it's organic. I personally don't buy ANY beef
from any store (only organic for me!). Hamburger is the worst, as it can
contain organs and blood from higher concentrations of contamination. Please,
be safe.

2005-11-17 Thread Marmar845
A publication of the World Chiropractic Alliance

September 2002
Placebo surgery
by Dr. Christopher Kent
Many scientists and clinicians consider the placebo-controlled trial
the gold standard for evidence-based practice. Coulter [1] notes
that according to The Office of Technology Assessment, Objections
are rarely if ever raised to the principles of controlled
experimentation on which RCTs are based. Others have stated that
placebo-controlled trials are needed to provide data on
effectiveness of active treatment. [2]

Interestingly, surgical procedures are often exempt from such
scrutiny. Ethical considerations are considered barriers to the use
of placebo-controlled investigations for surgical procedures. [3,4]
Interestingly, there have been five studies where placebo surgery
was used as a control. The placebo group generally did as well or
better than the group receiving the real operation.

In 1939, a surgeon named Feischi developed a surgical procedure for
angina pectoris. He reasoned that if the blood flow to the
myocardium could be increased, the symptoms of angina would
diminish. It was felt that ligating the internal mammary artery
would increase myocardial blood flow. The clinical results were
favorable, and the operation became popular, with three-quarters of
patients reporting improvement or elimination of symptoms. [5]

Twenty years later, The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM)
published the results of a placebo-controlled trial of internal
mammary artery ligation. [6] Of 17 patients, eight got the actual
operation. The other nine were anesthetized and got incisions, but
nothing else. The fake operations worked as well as the real thing.
As a result, internal mammary artery ligation surgery was soon
abandoned.

The next wave of placebo surgery involved the human brain. Fetal pig
nerve cells were implanted into the brains of 10 patients with
Parkinson's disease. Eight patients had holes drilled into their
heads, but received no implants. It was reported that no
significant improvement resulted from implanting the fetal cells of
pigs into patient brains when compared with subjects who received
placebo surgery. [7]

A second study, involving the implantation of stem cells from
aborted human fetuses into the brains of patients with Parkinson's
disease, was reported in NEJM. [8] Twenty of 40 patients received
sham surgery, and 20 got the real thing. Holes were drilled into the
skulls of the patients receiving sham surgery. Thankfully, the
authors noted that the dura was not penetrated. Some younger
subjects were claimed to experience some benefit. Older subjects
receiving the stem cells reported a worsening of their condition.

The latest study was a controlled trial of arthroscopic surgery for
osteoarthritis of the knee. A total of 180 patients with
osteoarthritis of the knee were randomly assigned to receive
arthroscopic debridement, arthroscopic lavage, or placebo surgery.
Pain and function were assessed over a 24-month period. The
result? At no point did either of the intervention groups report
less pain or better function than the placebo group. [9] This
investigation followed a smaller pilot study with similar results.
[10]

The notion of being subjected to unnecessary surgery is horrifying
enough. Yet, that is only part of the story. According to one
report, arthroscopic surgery for osteoarthritis of the knee is done
on at least 225,000 Americans each year, termed a sham by Dr.
Baruch Brody, an ethicist at Baylor College of Medicine. [11] The
cost of this intervention is estimated at $3.25 billion per year. [3]

The power of the placebo cannot be denied -- mobilization of the
inherent recuperative powers of the body. With placebo surgery, we
must ask, At what cost, and at what risk? Keep this in mind the
next time someone tells you they have to have surgery. Where's the
science? Or are anecdotes and conjecture good enough?

CSTamiflu deaths

2005-11-17 Thread Nancy Venzon

This just showed up on YAHOO news

WASHINGTON - Federal health advisers are looking into the deaths of 12 Japanese
children who took Tamiflu, part of their annual safety review of the anti-flu
medication and seven other drugs.

There are no reports of deaths in the United States or Europe associated with
Tamiflu.

Based on the information we have right now, we cannot say definitively there
is a causal relation between the drug and the children's death, Dr. Murray
Lumpkin, the deputy commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration,
said Thursday.

CSDoes Silver Kill Mites??

2005-11-17 Thread Langsley
Hi all.

I originally saw this claim in a Sharper Image catalog we received in the mail
but I just checked their website to see if I could find the claim there as well
and this what I found. I highlighted the anti mite claim.

Naturally antibacterial.

Sharper Image's Contour-Foam™ Silver slippers feature insoles of
viscoelastic foam that's infused with microscopic particles of silver — the
antibacterial product of the latest nanotechnology. These ultra-fine
nanoparticles cannot be seen or felt but they really enhance these slippers by
killing or reducing the growth of odor-causing bacteria and of fungus that can
irritate your skin. This nanosilver is a mineral that is safely used in many
everyday products — such as adhesive silver bandages — because of its
all-natural anti-mite, anti-mold and anti-microbe properties.

My understanding is that silver only kills single celled organisms. Does anyone
on the list have any documentation of silver killing organisms as complex as
mites?

Is it easy to get? Where does one get them? Asian Market? Health Food
Store?

Thanks.

Blessings,

  Connie,

An umeboshi plum is a japanese pickled, fermented plum. It is
highly alkaline and a great aid to digestion. It has been known to destroy
food born pathogens and cure cases of food poisoning. It is used throughout
Asia and has been a part of their traditional diet for many centuries.

Better yet, don't eat red meat at all. Abstinence works!

This just came in from a friend. I am forwarding this not to promote fear,
but to advise caution and common sense. If you forward this, please remove my
name and email address. Thanks.

  ***Beginning of message***
I was recently visiting my mother in California and read the morning paper
she had sitting on the kitchen table. I was surprised to see an article, small
and not on a front page (duh) that stated they had found Mad Cow diseased
cattle in Dallas. There are 413 cows that have been 'lost.' Apparently, many
cows lose their ear tags when being transferred, and are just retagged. The
group was accounted for except for the 413, which have apparently entered the
meat industry!

I think it's important to NOT buy any hamburger from any grocery store
unless you know where it came from or it's organic. I personally don't buy ANY
beef from any store (only organic for me!). Hamburger is the worst, as it can
contain organs and blood from higher concentrations of contamination. Please,
be safe.
